Leaving Villa del Carbon, we head west and into the beautiful state of Michoacan. There is much to see here including the pueblo magico of Patzcuaro and the colonial city Morelia. Should we make this our home for a few months?
My name is Mora Margaret and I'm traveling with my two dogs by car through Mexico, seeking a special place for relocation.

Hi Mora, I just happened to come across your video because the title grabbed my attention since I am from Michoacán but live in the Seattle area. Michoacán this time of the year is so lush and beautiful because of the rainy season. After a down pour, the sun breaks through and you can enjoy a beautiful blue sky and some incredible sunsets. Take advantage that you are so close to Morelia, the state capitol. You will love the architecture and its ambiance. It is also a colonial city just like Guanajuato city. There are lots of outdoor activities, concerts, bars, cafes, etc. Visit downtown (La Plaza), The Rose Garden, El Jardin de las Rosas is a good place to sit down and drink coffee. El mercado de dulces (the candies market) is near by. La casa de la cultura, La casa de artesanías in San Francisco is also near by. On Sundays, Avenida Madero, the main avenue in downtown is closed to vehicles so pedestrians can enjoy it while biking, skating, etc.

Saludos, Walter

We are in an RV exploring and slow-madding for now. We stayed in Patzcuaro several months last summer and really liked it. Saw some good prices on rental homes around the lake but we don't have a second vehicle to get around so that is a deal-breaker for us. Took the combis everywhere including to Tzentzunzan and if you are close to the main road it's very doable and cheap. We're spending around a year in Oaxaca right now.

I made a decision to leave and after 5 months traveling all over Mexico's beaches, I settled into Michoacan for similar reasons as you mentioned. That was 2 years ago. Beaches are nice in Mexico but these mountains here in the highlands do offer tranquility and opportunities to improve your Spanish. If you're looking for a house sit between Morelia and Pátzcuaro, let me know... I'm looking to get to the coast sometime soon and could be a nice exchange. Let me know if you're interested, and we can connect through email or WhatsApp. Heidi
