My prostate was removed on 8/20/24. My surgery was 9 hours because my prostate was the size of my fist. Came home the next day and recovering . My reconnect isnt healed yet so the cath will stay in til the 16 of September. So almost a month cathed. Fun times. I also had a reaction to the CT with contrast. That was 3 days of pure hell. I couldn't moveas my groin and peepee hurt. My bladder needed some reconstruction also because my prostate pushed up on it. Without God, this would have been worse. I'm 58 years old. I have suffered neuropathy for the last 30 years. If affects pretty much most of my body. I'm also a Type2 Diabetic for the past 10 years. Many diabetes urination issues can mimic other prostate issues. My PCP ordered a PSA test during my last A1C lab. My PSA was 38. They ran it again 2 weeks later and my PSA was 43. The later biopsy confirmed camcer. I had my radical prosectomy on 9/11/2024. I also had a hernia repaired for the double surgery. 6-1/2 weeks I am doing pretty good. Everything is healed. Restrictions are no more. PSA is undetectable after my first follow up test. Biggest issue right now, is the incontinence. Getting better, but still have some trying days. I start physical therapy next week with a therapist who specializes in this area. Hang in there guys, it will get better.

Hey Ty, I just found your channel and I feel a little less alone now. I had the robotic prostatectomy 30 days ago. I’m 54. Mine was a 4+3 and the pathology report revealed it’s a T3b. I also had chronic prostatitis with extremely painful episodes. Recovery has been mostly good but got a uti from the catheter. I really appreciate your efforts to share your knowledge and experience. You have a nice easygoing manner and I wish I could meet you in person. I will be watching more of your videos and commenting. Hope you’re doing well man!

Hey Ty, your channel is very refreshing because you speak from the heart and are real. I am 63 and 8 month's ago found out I had prostate cancer. A PET scan showed the cancer was contained in the prostate. My a gleason score was 3-4 and after considering the options I decided to have the robotic prostatectomy surgery. After the surgery the lymph nodes that were taken out showed no evidence of cancer & after 2 visits with the urologist my PSA levels are undetectable. I feel blessed in my journey so far and am very grateful. But, as with you the side effects are challenging. I have viewed many other channels of others that have shared their experiences and advice. I really enjoy how you can relate your every day life experiences/challenges with practicable advice. Thank You!

Hello Ty, I found your channel while looking at other people's experiences. You caught my eye because, as you, I 'm African American and our journey is little different than others. Let me give some background. I am 65 and had a history of BPH for over 10 years. Had 2 biopsies which were always negative for cancer. Of course, with BPH, you can have high PSA's . Mine were always under 7. Anyway, a friend who had prostate cancer told me to request an MRI with contrast dye. I did one back in 2022 and nothing was found. Somehow, I missed one in 2023. My PSA increased to a 6.8. I told my urologist to schedule another MRI. I took it in April of this year, and a small tumor was found on the left side. He scheduled the biopsy, and it was confirmed, 4+3 =7 grade 3 staged at 2. I have family history, my brother and 2 cousins have it. Thank God, all doing well. I'm scheduled to have my robtic radical prostatectomy on July 9th. I had a PET scan, and it was favorable with it being localized in the prostate with no spread. Many of us have our prostate cancer missed because we don't know to ask for that test if we have a family history of prostate cancer in our families. You are on the right track. You are researching and doing the correct prep work. Make sure you watch the video on the catheter and kegels that I posted to make sure you don't have any setbacks because of that. I am sure your mind is running a mile a minute, but be sure to take some time to enjoy the next couple of days.. Hang in there!!!

Ty, I just got my results. I had a 6 Gleason score, 3 + 3 with less than 2% in 3 different areas. Thank you for your videos, they are very reassuring and informative. You are indeed a blessing. I have opted for the DaVinci radical prostatectomy. I have scheduled the surgery for January after wedding anniversary, wife's birthday and the holidays. Thank you, I can face this with less apprehension.

Hello there. I also have Gleason 6, but cancer in 4 cores with one core at 55%. I'm 54, and my urologist says I'm not a good candidate for Active Surveillance because of my age and cancer volume. I'm curious as to why your doctor recommended surgery with a Gleason 6 and 2% volume. Did they tell you why Active Surveillance was not a good option?

Hi Ty, I wanted to get back to you about my radical robotic prostecmy that was peform on 7/9/24. The procedure went very well and well over 3 hours long. I went to recovery and my journey began. My prostate and lymph nodes were sent to pathology for exam. I was really sedated so it took me awhile to come around. Long story short, my worst night was my first night home bc I didn't have that bowel movement and pass gas. I was up all night with severe gas, cramps and bad stomach pain with spasms. @ericb2397 Thank you for the update. All things considered, I am glad everything went well and hopefully the outcome of the pathology is great news. I will take this information you shared and turn it into positive for someone else. I will make a video to try to remind those who are having the surgery that they have to find a way to get up and move around so they can pass gas and have a bowel movement. Remember the importance of your catheter care keep it clean and untangled. sit so that it can easily flow and take it easy. One step at a time.

PSA is an interesting marker. I've been on Active Surveillance since 2017 or so, my initial readings were 6-7 and my father had prostate cancer. Had a double whammy of BPH issues as well as Gleason 3+3 with two cores positive on biopsies. Opted for TURP surgery a yr. ago to deal with the BPH and my PSA readings were now in the 20's (with medication) That was a success but my PSA has not decreased as it should have post-surgery; surprisingly a recent PSMA-Pet scan revealed nothing outside of the prostate either. After discussion with a radiation oncologist will likely opt for treatment if my next biopsy reveals more cores are involved.

Hi after years of digital exams back in 2018 my urologist gave me a psa test came back a 9 I was taking trt at the time gave me some antibiotics and did a retest and mri , psa came back less than 1 did active surveillance every 3 months still less than 1 said I had prostatitis last week did a psa with my primary doctor came back 4.1 have a follow up with my urologist next Thursday

Whassup Ty, I am Stage 1. My urologist and PCP have been monitoring my PSA for a year. It has been over 4.5-5.5. The Docs state because we caught it early that we should just wait and see. I don't want to do that. What Can I do. Please help. V/r, Roy

@roymyles5863 Thank you for sharing. I can imagine that this is a tough situation for you to be in. Finding out that you have prostate cancer early and then being asked to wait to do something about it. I was stage 2 so I was in a similar boat because I knew I had some time to decide but I also felt a more immediate need to move forward. I think it is important to share that all of us, no matter what stage we were in, felt conflicted about moving forward with our treatment at some point. I appreciate you seeking my advice but I do not believe it to be my place to provide that. I am not a medical professional and I believe any decision being made about selecting a treatment option is personal in nature. I do believe that there is some value in taking your time to do all of the research that you can before selecting a treatment option. All of the treatment options come with outcomes so you have to keep that in mind. I am wishing you peace as you decide and the very best outcomes going forward.
