Great to see a young man into an old Camaro and not a truck or JDM car. A man after my own heart! Keep up the good work, it's all worth it in the end.

Thanks Glenn! I actually like and own them all haha (51 chevy 3100 5 window project, subaru’s, Rx8 etc). This Camaro has a special place in my “collection” though!

Ryan, I’m sure you really want to get your engine built and installed but I totally understand what you’re saying about not rushing the machine shop and I would do the same thing. You’ve waited this long another month or two won’t hurt a thing. I’m waiting with you so I’ll be happy to watch when the time comes!

The VIN, have you checked for a build sheet on top of gas tank? I have 71 RS I’m starting to work on, took my tank off to clean out the old gas. Found a full build sheet, pretty awesome.

Ryan, i am a Little jealous. You're wearing shorts already. I drove my 89 Corvette up to the cabin today. Priceless. I bought it about 2 years ago and it only has 35,000 miles. It's almost like new. But my Camaro is waiting. I don't drive them enough. I will swap them next week. Glad to see progress, and I appreciate your response to my comments. Keep on posting the progress! Oh, it might hit 83 tomorrow. I brought shorts.

Hopefully it will be ready for cruisin' by the summer! Can't wait to see it all come together. Best way to get rid of smells in plastic is to put them in the freezer for a few days.

That’s a great tip! I will try that with the glove box door👍. Oh it better be ready by the summer haha; coming up on 1 year of ownership already in another few months!

on the hidden vin, the first digit is a 1. internally at GM the 1 signifies Chevrolet Motor Division. the second digit is year, 3 for 1973. the third digit in N for Norwood Ohio, were the car was made. the reset of the digits are the last part of your vin tag. one other thing to note is that all the sheet metal on the car also has date/time stamping on them. some times people mistake them for hidden vin numbers but they are not. for example there is on on the inside of the door, just above the door handle, there is usually one visible on the rear package tray and on the inner fender just forward of the hood hinges. as for testing the blower motor. one of the best tools for testing electrical on a car is a Power Probe III. it is one of my must have tools to troubleshooting electrical issue. you can use it to send power or ground to any device.
@RyanSampsonRPh3 жыл бұрын
As always thank you for the info shad! I will have to look up that power probe tool too 👍👍
@shadvan94943 жыл бұрын
@@RyanSampsonRPh your welcome Ryan. Glad I could share some of the knowledge that has been rattling around in my head all these year, and that it is useful to you. That power probe is a little pricy, but it has saved me hours tracking down faulty connections and bad grounds. I recently finished redoing a "painless" wiring harness a friend installed in his 67 ss350 camaro he is rebuilding. I think every ground on the car was bad and i also discovered that he missed the block to chassis ground strap. That power probe save us a weeks worth of work troubleshooting. Cant recommend it enough. I find I use it more often than my Fluke 87 multimeter. Which was my go to tool before the power probe.

Looks like your Z is right about 6000 units after mine & I have a quick question for you. Is your trim tag help on by screws or rivets? The upper cowl on mine was replaced with the cowl from a wrecked 72 before I got it & I need to reattach the tag but I'm unclear on when in 73 they moved from rivets to screws. Thank you in advance..
@RyanSampsonRPh3 жыл бұрын
Mine has screws which they changed from rivets to screws somewhere between late march to early april in 1973 🙂

I know right?! Mine isn’t super bad but it will probably return if I turn the heater on. I was thinking about painting into the ducts too if I get anymore whiffs of it. Someone else said freeze the parts and then clean but I haven’t tried that yet.
