Rode it top to bottom by myself my first time in 2020 during covid. So almost no one on the whole route. 2nd time i made it top down to that awesome road yoi mentioned jusy south of Yellow Pine....Warm Lake Road. One of my most favorite roads i have ever riden. I grew up on sport bikes and really wish i was on one on that road. But incredible road. Curves and massive elevation change.

We also rode it in 2020 but only made it so far before we ended up taking a couple of detours cause of people getting injured. That’s why we picked up where we picked up on the trail to try and finish it out. Warm Lake Road was incredible, I would’ve loved to ride that without my gear and I could see a sport bike being really fun to ride on it too.

Great video, how about a version with no music.
@e2interactive8 сағат бұрын
Thanks. I hadn't thought about a cut without music mainly because I edited a lot of the scenes to the music. I am genuinely curious why you'd like to see it without music?

@ I’ve owned and ridden motorcycles for 49 consecutive years and have owned over 30 different motorcycles. I only mention this because I feel I don’t fit into many of the different types of motorcycles cultures with their “presentation” of music. I just love the sounds of the bike from the different environments I’m riding in. Music, not saying it’s bad, I’ve used it too, but music to me is someone else’s’s interpretation of the moment imposed on me. Many times I will watch others videos with no sound because I find the music not even close to my lifestyle/taste/liking/ or it’s offensive. When I just hear the sounds of the bikes ridden in its current environment, I better connect to my own experiences and enjoy the ride also. Just my thoughts.

Anyone ride the Mcgruder this year? Curious about conditions.

Yeah we rode it in August this summer and it was amazing. It was Day 5 of our trip. We did get rained on a couple of times that day but it was beautiful and roads were nice.

Sad news... someone went out and painted over ALL of the stickers on the Old bus late this summer... so many years of history erased... But at least the bus has been restored to its natural state of heaping rusting junk... but for the spray paint... 😢

Bummer, must have been painted soon after we road the trail. I guess it can be added to again and start over with adding stickers from all over the place. One of the riders in our group went around and took photos of some of his favorite stickers, now they are all covered up by paint.

Thanks for uploading the movie. My son and I did the Idaho BDR about 1 week before you in 2024 and it was nice to see much of the route again (we started in Jarbidge, NV). No fires along the BDR at that time so we did not need to deviate. Seem there was much more rain during your trip as we didn’t have to actually drive in rain but of course there was much more dust. I’m not sure why your group went to Grangeville instead of the BDR route to Florence but I assume there was a reason. I was interested to see how the route was near Florence since there was a logging operation going on at that time and the route was quite torn up and difficult to navigate. I didn’t see that Trinity lookout was done in your video but nice to see Burnt Knob which had great views to enjoy. I’m not sure where you stayed on day five (around Hamilton) but when we were in that area a fellow traveler told us about several free dispersed campsites around Lake Como. It was nice with a great view of the lake. Looks like you took HWY 12 from Lolo to Powell as the BDR site recommended (because of the Elk Meadows bridge repair) but Montana’s forest service site explained that by going to Forest Road 37 you could get back on what is the BDR route. Actually, this section was our favorite and it’s too bad the BDR site neglects to mention there was a way to enjoy this section via FR 37. The BDR site says it is a “bridge washout” but actually it’s a scheduled repair. Look like you also skipped Char Falls, Lunch Peak and Roman Nose. I assume there was not enough time.

You bet. We diverted to Grangeville because one of the guys in our group was knew the people who ran the Red River Hot Springs hotel and we wanted to make it there in time, it was a small detour to get there, plus he grew up in the area and he wanted to show us some spots. We ended up staying at a campground just west of Hamilton from a suggestion from our waitress at dinner, it was close by and it was called Blodgett Campground. Sounds like Lake Como would have been a good spot to try, maybe next time. After riding the ID BDR, I think we all have decided that we'll do this one every couple of years, we enjoyed it. We'll have to go check out some of those spots you mentioned.
