Idaho Viewers: Please keep trail names / coordinates out of the comments and if anyone wants information email me privately 🤙🏼 EDIT: In response to the high volume of comments about my mirror stem- I do remove it later in the video. Keep in mind the length this ride eventually becomes 30 plus hours and the mirror stem was only there for a brief 25-35ish minutes or so before I removed it. I should have removed it immediately, but I was tired from dragging the bikes under the log and didn't want to pull my tools out. Nonetheless, I should have.

I spent the night on the trail not far from where i think that is about 15 years ago. Learned to cut every log unless its a super easy ridearound (no dragging or tag teaming), and just turn around if we run short of daylight or baroil. Most serious riders here ride 2strokes so we never run out of saw gas, but its pretty easy to keep pushing forward until its too late to turn around.

My bivy was at home, my life straw was at home, my jacket was at home, and my motorcycle jump starter was at home. Those were all things I very much needed. We were very lucky that the water sources we had were very fresh snowmelt and were at high altitudes where animals like beavers and such aren't contaminating the water with giardia. You said that at times that trail was SKETCHY, no, that whole trail was sketchy. Even in my younger days, I would have never taken a trail like that. I made a mount for my Polaris quad, and my TW200, that with the release of 1 stretch cord I could release my chainsaw. On the TW I use a Ryobi 18 volt 12 inch cain saw. I have used it around the house a lot, and it cuts just fine. The Polaris has a regular Dollmar chainsaw. I carry lots of emergency supplies in my quad, but other than a good set of tools, I need to carry every thing else in my Hydration pack on my TW. I think that I am going to invest in a kick starter for my TW. One thing that I do have installed in my 2022 Polaris 570 trail, my 2022 TW200, and my 2017 RZR900, is an AGM battery. I recently sold my 2009 Polaris 550 Quad, and it still had the original AGM battery in it. The 2009 was my snow-plow quad, and it always started. I am impressed by the rugged trails that you ride on, and I am also impressed that you had another rider with you on this adventure. I paused the video at 34 minutes to write this comment. I am sure that I will have more to add after watching the rest.

It was definitely one of the gnarlier ones I have featured on this channel. Though, after this experience, I am going to tone it back a bit and maybe do some less edgy and more scenic stuff if I can. Saws are definitely a necessity when you get way out in the woods! I've never used one of those ryobis before. Are they at least light weight and easy to pack? We were carrying as much supplies as we reasonably could given the trail we were on, but we definitely needed more when push came to shove.. A kick starter is an awesome idea for your TW too!! It's definitely one of the more rugged one's I have featured on this channel, and I am probably going to tone it back after this one. This one really beat me to my core!

Idaho is absolutely beautiful. Not going to lie, i thought it was flat and boring. I'm now corrected. You guys got Bears over there ?
@madjack_7575 ай бұрын
It is super flat and boring. There’s nothing cool there at all. I heard Iowa is a much cooler place lol. Idaho has a very thriving population of predators such as black/brown/(some)grizzly bears, wolves, cougars, coyotes, foxes, etc.. where we were was somewhat kinda near the grizzly bear range too which is sketchy lol.

Please excuse my ignorance, as i'm not familiar with the area. Why are there so many downed trees?
@madjack_7575 ай бұрын
It’s all good! The downed trees are very normal this far north. Winters are rough and summer storms can be rough. Trees fall for a variety of reasons. There’s always new growth springing up though. It’s funny, I’ve been camping during a summer storm before and heard trees coming down in the forest nearby. It’s wild.

Its no joke! Every early season ride is a gamble. Unfortunately for us, we drew the short straw and the temps were in the 20s for us that night. We had nothing but our riding clothes and a fire to keep warm.

I’m 71 years old now. I don’t ride tracks like this alone anymore. In fact, I’ve never been in this situation before. I just traded my KTM 690 Enduro R for a BMW R Nine T Scrambler.

you do it very well. all time having to handle the bike, and non stop move the bars. BTW pouch weight on front bars doesn't really help, giving inertia, but I guess you had no choice to put things elsewhere ! you are a great example of super smooth throttle control. Having to focus all time is really sucking brain and body energy.... keep the good job

2nd log question? Would it, could it have been an option to use a smaller log as a pry bar either near the top or bottom of that log to see if a little prying action might loosen the whole thing (while keeping yourself at a distance of course) and let that big log take off and find the river? Yes, no? Even worth a try?
