Each week it seems the productions just get better and better. You've come a long way in a short amount of time Gly. Seems you may have found a second calling. That drone was a great investment, and your narration skills are some of the best I've ever heard. Thanks for sharing and caring about the videos you put out. I believe you're on your way to your wish of having the best mine exploring channel out there. Awesome job as always Otto. I hope one day to run into you out on the trails. You never know, as big as it is, this can be a small world sometimes. Stay safe Buddy.

In my 60 years of exploring mines, I've collected many dynamite boxes and this is how I learned to estimate their ages- 1st the notched wooden boxes, then the nailed wooden boxes and last, the cardboard boxes like you found at the mouth of the mine. I watch a lot of mine videos and you bring a lot of expertise in many areas that ad a new dimension to mine videos. Great job.

I just had the funniest thought of you stumbling across active mining on one of your explores, and just walking up to them with your pads and helmet and cameras etc, and the only thing you say is "What year is it, Citizen?" and then walking back into the mine and out of sight after they reply. I mean, go back and talk to them, but that would be a GREAT prank for about 3 min while they all just looked around like you were the terminator or something LOL

Nice to see this one hasn't gotten gated like so many others have. I was at this one eight years ago, so I always wondered if it had gotten gated in the meantime. Things still look pretty much the same in your video as what I found when I was there. We didn't explore this one as much as you did. Ours was more of a cursory exploration. Really wasn't into climbing ladders back in those early days. Nice video!

“Gly”: Thanks Frank! I liked this location allot because it had that really old mine classic look about it especially the portal. This was a really great site to document.
@AbandonedMines11
@AbandonedMines11 4 жыл бұрын
Abandoned and Forgotten Places I agree about that portal having a very classic look to it. In fact, I really have never seen one like it since. Also, the tram station at the top of the hill is cool. Never have seen something like that, either. It’s a very unique site! I was just glad to see that the portal is still open at this late date. Like I said, I had always wondered about that one. By any chance, did you stop at the small talc mine that’s lower on the mountain? As you’re going up the road towards the Soaring Eagle Mine, it would be off to the right on a branching road. I never made it over to that talc mine, believe it or not! I got a report, though, years ago that there is no underground access there even though ore cart tracks can be seen in the satellite imagery. Heard it was collapsed.
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces 4 жыл бұрын
“Gly”: I know exactly the one your talking about. I have that talc mine on my itinerary but I waiting for all of these after shocks to settle down a bit before going into soft strata mines. It does look interesting and your right... it does have noticeable rail that can be seen on Google Earth. While I wait for things to settle down a bit I’ve been working on a very large mine over the last week. You may have documented the one I’m working on once before, Part 1 begins this coming Saturday. No spoilers! Lol
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces 4 жыл бұрын
“Gly”: Followup: Indeed, you Paul and Justin did document the mine I’m working on now back in 2016. Part 1 and 2 will be similar to what you guys discovered but after that Part 3 or 4 has me exploring the escape routs and stopes. I think you’ll find it interesting that the mine hasn’t changed much since you guys were there.
@AbandonedMines11
@AbandonedMines11 4 жыл бұрын
Abandoned and Forgotten Places If it’s the one I’m thinking of, be careful on that one level where the major collapse was! The rock down there is very crumbly compared to the rest of the mine. That collapse has pretty much sealed off that level anyway so there’s not much to explore on that level from what I can remember.

Can't get enough of your adventures. Living in Florida we do not have scenery like those you show. Beautiful. Hoping one day you will find an escape route in one of these mines. I heard you say that you have done mining in the past and it shows. I would be claustrophobic as heck. Watching you go up those terraces and janky ladders, just to have to turn around and go back. I have been watching older videos. Love the intro of you scratching your butt puts a smile on my face. A little comedic goes a long way. Be safe.

Might I suggest that with an explosives box at the adit, you might want to turn it over with your walking stick as it is a great place for snakes to hide. I learned the hard way that scorpions and snakes find the boxes to be an excellent shelter. This is a great tour and shows a lot about the geology of slip faults. Looks like it might be fun to see if that last passage on the escape route could be cleared. Thanks for another great video !!

Realizing this may not get read as it's 3 years old but anyone else notice that the "right-hand" rule seems to have gone out the window on this haulage adit, Gly seemed to bounce back and forwards on which way he was going, I think he missed another drift on the way back to the escape ladder? At 16:37 he didn't explain the sacks (no doubt samples) and the other tool next to those modified pieces of rail. Love the site, nice seeing the upgrades as I follow each episode chronologically. Stay safe!

In a book called 'Death Scenes' I found an old photo of two, '..Teens who found dynamite at one of our dams..' It HAD gone-off and they were Not in a good way .. (at all. Actually, no one in that book was.) The book is a L.A. homicide detectives scrapbook. Only interesting here, in that you see the extent to which just 2 or 3 sticks of dynamite had done to the delicate human frame. Nasty. They were dead from the blast in their hands. The photo itself looks circa 193/40's. Great channel man.

You definitely have more guts than me, I would have not gone up that one later, I've faced death enough already, don't need to tempt it in my old age 😅😅😅 great explore there Gly I don't think anyone has been there for a long time. Well I'm trying to catch up going back wards seeing your videos. 👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸

Gly @ 24:36 the date code is on the label. looks like others have noticed it too as I scrolled down in the comments. I believe the B after Aug15 is the shift that manufactured the explosives. The box of nails looks to be a MRE box and I like the helmet cam, too bad it wasn’t in 360 so you can actually see what it is your pointing at. I would have liked to see the bottles but you didn’t show it with your cam set up. always looking forwards to another great episode Gly👍🏻😎

“Gly”: I agree, I think all of those dynamite boxes were from the early 70’s. I wasn’t happy with the performance of the new helmet cam after making this video so I’ve made some major modifications. With each mine I’m getting it dialed in better and better.

Watching this great episode just before Halloween a thought occurred to me that those signs did not say escape route to OUTSIDE, but just escape route. Now I have to wonder about WHAT they were trying to escape from? LOL

I have to place this adventure in the category of... "It's o.k., I'm seeing this video so I know that he made it out" Ladders hanging by a wire going up into something "Mole People" would have dug out. I mean for crying out loud Gly.... Great episode!! Easy thumbs up.

I have My QuakeFeed App configured to monitor the seismic activity in Nevada. I had no idea it is so active. Every day there are at least two 3M temblors in the Tonopah, Nevada area., and a 3.5 to 4M at least once a week. Must be an interesting experience to be deep in and old mine when one of these events happens.

“Gly”: i’m staying out of soft strata mines like tungsten or talc mines for right now. I have been seeing recent earthquake damage in mines and you will see that in upcoming episodes.
