Hello all. I had this problem about 7 years ago, wouldn´t start so rolled it down onto the road and went to work in a different car. Came home and got underneath and did what you just did and cleaned it up enough to start it, drive it up under the car port, onto ramps. Ordered a solenoid repair kit from a UK company, took about 2 weeks to get here (Australia), then pulled out the starter. What a fun job that was when the top 15mm nut had to be screwed off all the way with a socket. Replaced the solenoid assy, cleaned up the offending stud and put it back. Hasn´t missed a beat since.

I have to say, the chipmunks did a lovely job of that starter motor . . . ! Interestingly, that Disco still has the original splash shield under the engine. Look after it, you can't get replacements. The ABS light came on on Old Stinky just after I had wire brushed the suspension strut. A quick drive later and it went off. Muck under the sensor I reckon.

We did one a while back so didn't do another. Unfortunately on doing this one a brake hard line snapped at a point it had been corroded so new lines needed too.

@@wardysworx Good effort. I won't do brake pipes. I leave that to people that know what they are doing!
