Discovery 3: ABS Sensor Fault

Well done !! looking at the video I suspect that work has been done before on the hub --- the disc shields look new as does the calliper and the brake shoes...I bet it has had a new wheel bearing and whoever did the work forgot the circlip! Surprised the hub did not work all the way off, which would have been disastrous! Anyway job well done.

Hi, yeah I did a fair bit of work last year with the shields and brake lines. I remember putting back the original clips. I'm guessing that it was damaged some how and popped off. Quite frustrating as it is a large amount of work to replace something so small..

What was the symptoms of this problem did it cause the transmission to go into limp mode or did it just throw a check engine light or something? My main question is what's the transmission affected by this or did it still operate normally?

Hi.. So the symptoms were HDC and ABS warning on dash, ABS warning lamp, suspension lowered. Other than that you could drive as normal. Hope this helps..

I have a similar issue except I think the ABS sensor ring is so corroded the sensor can no longer get a signal so I have no speedo and ABS faults the codes are P0500 Vehicle speed sensor circuit A and C0037 left rear speed sensor, I've replaced the sensor and cleaned out what I can but its not mentioned anywhere on the internet and you can't buy the ring, you have to buy the whole CV axle halfshaft with the ring on it

ah yes, the spacing between the ring and the sensor is quite small, so if corrosion has eaten away the teeth then it won't detect or pickup the pulses.. i wonder if a ring could be made? a bit like hobbing a gear..

@@m0xya I crawled under, now it has Suncore Springs on, and sure enough there was a broken wire to the left rear speed sensor, this morning even the check engine light went away!

@@m0xya well it turned out to be a bad speed sensor wire, it was quite obviously broken so I rigged some pigtails and by jingo all the stupid lights went out and my speedo came back!!!
