How to make an easy job look hard. Simply undo the heat shields off behind the LHF air bag (6 10mm headed bolts, loop a heavy duty cable tie loosely around the Elbow hose,Using Extra Long nose pliers squeeze the hose clamp open and Pull on the cable tie to loosen and pull the hose off the elbow. Tuck the hose out of the way. Use 8mm quarter inch drive socket with long extention bar and ratchet remove plastic housing (elbow) , clean the block ready to accept the new part. Spray around the block and Spray The replacement elbow with brake cleaner (this will help the elbow slot into position much easier). fit the new elbow with the 2 8mm bolts, remove the sping loaded hose clamp and fit a conventional hose clamp with an hexagonal head. Again using brake cleaner spray all around the elbow and hose (this will make the parts slide over each other much easier. Using A Quarter Drive ratchet with the correct sized socket and with a snuggly fitting tube socket and long extention bar attached to the handle of the ratchet tighten up the clamp. Fill with coolant , refit the 3 heat Shields job done. There is no removing of the top wish bone or sump guard nessasary, in fact you should be able to do this job faster than it took me type it up. Replacement part cost $24 from rovercraft in Bassendean.

Rovacraft had none in stock (along with everyone else I rang) when I did the job so that was a real pain. The sump guard was off due to the looking for where the leak was coming from in the first place. I'd struggle to get access with the top suspension arm still in place

Why are you running green coolant? I was under the impression that Discos ran on Red, mine all have.
@Shanes_Shed3 жыл бұрын
Colour is kinda irrelevent as there are no standards for coolant type and colour. This could vary between manufacturer to manufacturer. The coolant Im using is a HOAT (hybrid organic acid technology) type coolant. I was previously running a different brand coolant and that was blue. One thing I prefer with green is it generally shows up leaks better

Hey Shane, just pop'd mine and nearly cooked the engine. Looks like a bastard of a place to get to. Any update tips on changing it out. Thx Knackers

I found the job much easier with the upper arm removed. You may be able to do it without removing it so give it a go first, but if you struggle pull the top arm. Good extension bars with your socket/ratchet.
