Hi Christian and Vera, well again with your super German efficiency lol the last time was the "TUF" legal spacers you meticulously fitted, again with my typical English disregard for the law and climate change I removed my EGR valves and removed the DPF and fitted a straight through pipe and did an delete on my engine obd programmer. I am happier when the engine is breathing through a nice exhaust and not having its breathing chocked by pumping gasses back through the engine block to diminish its fresh air fuel mixture. Actually as long as the vehicle passes its emissions test on our MOT the removal of egr is fine also because of the weight of the car a dpf is not a legal requirement... the test isn't as bad as your "TUF" which I had to manage when living in Munster in the 1980,s Always enjoy your technical skills and great humour lol all the best Phil and Louise

As someone who has worked on Land Rovers for 30+ years, I'll give you a good tip. Get yourself a few old pallets, then when you are working on the Landy, put one in front and one each side and that extra 15cm is perfect. Pallets are free, environmentally friendly because they are wood, they have good grip on the surface and won't slip or fall over like a milk crate or step ladder, thy can live outside and when they rot, you can put them on the fire and stay warm.

That’s a great idea, normally I’ll remove the front wheels and put some axle stands underneath to drop the front right down to make it easier to work on , particularly the engines oil filter , at one stage I felt like putting a plank across the engine bay but seeing the wings aren’t metal thought it was a bad idea , good call 👍

Hi, hope ur both keeping well , fantastic video as always , ur spot on 👍👍pre 2007 don’t need the EGR software patch if the EGRs are blanked , mines a 2005 UK D3 , No DPF, must admit blanked mine , left the pipes in situ and slid a blanking plate between the engine block and pipe , then removed the butterfly valve , was amazed with how dirty the throttle body and MAP sensor was, runs so much nicer now and always passes the MOT emissions every year . If it also helps as know it can be frustrating sometimes trying to reach into the engine bay , that I’ve done the same , removed the negative battery lead, jacked it up, removed both front wheels and dropped it down onto axle stands , really helps by lowering the front for better access, of course know ur extremely knowledgeable , just something I learnt and hope that it may also help u, stay safe and of course if it’s ok will share ur video on the Land Rover forums , 👍ps, have u seen the new MOT regulations for northern Ireland seeing it’s still part of the EU , that it will include a code reader to be plugged in, also do u have any LR time stickers left please and purchase price as would be very honoured to have one in the back of my D3 , many thks

Yes, but for us, a project is stressful when an error is fatal to the engine, and that was one of those repairs. There are of course more labor intensive repairs, but when you make a mistake on those projects, they are not really fatal to your car, you just have to start over again. 🙋♀️ Vera

Hey Christian & Vera, good to see that you are enjoying sub-Australian temperatures and keep staying busy with your LR3. I just thought, how boring KZbin and your life would be if you had bought a Landcruiser 105 instead. No EGR, the water pump works since 23 years and apart from oil I barely replace anything. I thought I may replace the front wheel bearings and swivel bearings after 320,000 km, but just I watch your videos and become bored that there is literally nothing to do on this bloody Toyota. I'm so jealous. :-) Maybe I just make something up, knock it with the hammer and then finally I can repair something. People are right when they say Toyotas are boring. Keep up the good work, I still enjoy your videos and maybe sometimes, you come down to Australia for a beer and BBQ. See Ya!
@Vera_and_Christian3 жыл бұрын
That is excactly what I tell Toyota guys commenting that we should get a Toyota. 😅 I mean if nothing breaks, than what content can we provide here in Germany. No one would watch our channel. 😂 But here, a Toyota Landcruiser, a cool one, is almost three times as expensive as a Land Rover Discovery. So we do not mind fixing a Land Rover and are able to have a car like that. 👍🙋♀️ Vera
@alexandergabel27943 жыл бұрын
@@Vera_and_Christian Hi Vera, the LR Discovery in Australia are not cheaper than a Landcruiser, when you compare new ones. Landcruiser 200 series is about $90 - 120k new, very similar to a LR5 depending on the number of options you tick. But the LR's depreciate quite quickly once the warranty is expired while the Landcruiser keep their value extremely well and long. Due to COVID and our strict travel restrictions, some used cars are currently more expensive than when you bought them. Crazy market ITM. But you are right, pricing for a used LR is much better than for a used LC. We paid $20k 11 years ago and I would possibly get $20k for it again today.

Your video has given me inspiration to give it a go going through the headlight is ingenious and looks a lot more comfortable than some ways I’ve seen it done which put me off completely and I tbh was thinking it might be a body off job keep up the videos your helping me so much other day I tried to do the shoes took me all day watched your video and did both sides in under half hour 😂😂

If a water pump is on sale, you've got to buy it - LOL. The old one looked that it had some play in it already, so the sale was timed just right. Just changed my timing belt so I replaced all the pulleys and also the water pump and belt to avoid having to disassemble all the stuff later. Great video. These EGR valves don't seem to last. Mine failed at 48K km in my Ford Territory.

Do you intend to do a gearbox/mechatronics service on your LR’s?

Not if I can avoid it. 😅 But if it becomes necessary, we will of course do it. We have done that on our Challenger, but I don't think we made a video about it. 🙋♀️ Vera

Yes, time-lapse can fix lots of stuff. But I didn't understand what you were saying in the end about whatever it was that was in that bush. What was it?

A Unimog! When Land Rovers & Toyotas battle for who can get stuck in the mud the farthest from home, a Unimog happily trundles past.

Hi Vera and Christian, great vid again. What kind of hints and failures lead you to the water pump? Leaking drops of coolant undee the front?
@Vera_and_Christian3 жыл бұрын
None at all, impulse shopping, to have a spare one at home.😅 But our car has almost 230000 km on it now, and we knew that there was a chance that the pump might fail soon. And it appearantly was recently starting to leak, we only noticed it when we pulled it out. We did not see it while installed at all. It's an easy fix, most work is taking all the stuff out, and since we already had everything we just changed it. 🙋♀️ Vera

Thank goodness they managed to invest in a car lift two years later
