Why is it always the responsibility of the owner to do the thinking for everyone? You hire someone with loads of experience (pun intended) to get a job done, then why can't that experienced person do some thinking for themselves, and when they get stuck on a problem go to their superior for advice, feedback, or clarification? He knew the purpose of the pad, and really did know how to build it if he actually thought it out, and if not, then ask what to do (hey Parker I don't know how to figure out how to get all the equipment on the pad. Can you help me run a tape measure?) Yes, that sounds ridiculous - because it is. It seems many of these comments are based on throwing blame at owner, which is the mentality of an inept employee. Why can't people think for themselves? this is not a management problem, this is a mindset problem of people thinking the manager has to tell them every single thing they should be doing. He made the guy Foreman to figure stuff out not to simply follow a manual of directions. Then the employees expect to get profit sharing, when they just want to money, but aren't willing to figure out the difficult problems to get that money. Do some thinking of your own, and actually solve problems and provide solutions to your manager, or owners, and you will see how quickly you will be promoted.

Everyone makes mistakes and you have to take your lumps but if you’re fed up then leaving is the best thing no matter if the boss wants to “let you go”just make sure you and your next boss both have a tape measures.

So if your a long distance driver for 30 years+ and you strap down your rig yourself and during the journey your load falls off whose responsible(supervisor)..(manager).🤔

i don´t think parker would have fired him. But Dean wanted to go. But they handled the goodbye well, like men.

Totally his fault. He should have made it the proper size

Dean f'ed up and blames everyone else except himself. Then blasts Parker. Prime example of a POS person who shouldn't be on any crew

Dean was in the wrong 100 cement. If your boss doesn’t tell you the measurements and you built it exactly wide enough for the big red you would say something when the boss complains about the measurement. Also those saying “they’ve got heavy machinery it wouldn’t take long to fix” it would take 2-3 days as they need to make the foundation stable enough for the loaders, the dozers, the dumps and the excavator. At 150 dollars a minute which is how much money is wasted on excavation 170,000 is lost each day when nothing is running now add that for 3 extra days they have to spend a lot on gasoline for the extra trips to keep dumping to create twice as wide of a space that’s 500k lost in 3 days. After dean quit everything started running like clockwork on the site yet people claim Parker was the problem. Pure copium the boss isn’t at fault for everything that ever goes wrong ever with 30+ years of experience he should realise ”hmmm I built this road exactly the width of big red maybe I should make some space so we can actually pass it and do the work”.

I agree. I think being paid as a foreman comes with it a higher degree of standards. If it was just some regular worker on the mine and he didn't plan things out well, that's one thing. But a foreman is supposed to be on top of things like necessary dimensions. A foreman doesn't say he did what he was told and is absolved from whatever happens. It's his role to see it's done right, not to take directions and call it a day. That's a worker's M.O., not a guy in a management position. And for him to then think he's in position to be fresh about it too is just beyond. Like he won't even entertain the criticism. It's embarrassing.

True but this ends up costing the crew big time. Spoiler alert that berm he built was not enough to handle the the volume of dirt they end up processing through the sluice.

Whats the point of hiring an employee if you have to do the employees job? Basic measurements of a wash plant pad falls on the Foreman, not Parker.

Yeah well his grandfather live the great life and taught him how to be a great worker and Parker really shined he gave that gentleman his last check and was polite to him in front of his family all respect to Parker

The blame lays on parker. You should have been monitoring something so crucial to production. Terrible leadership with no sense of direction.

Seems like lack of communication problem. Probably should have been measurements before starting the job, not after.

in any successful business, the boss needs to acknowledge and understand what social skills are. Even in the most of blue collar jobs -
