On any container that has a seal like that, whether it's peanut butter, oil or DEF, I take out my pocket knife and cut the seal around the inside of the opening. It will be a full size opening and the seal will be in one piece instead of little pieces in your Miracle Whip.

This is a classic case of carrying a knife 364 days a year....but the one day you need it, it's not there. My dad carried an Old Timer pocket knife every day of his life. I carry one often, but there are a lot of times that I don't. You just saw one of those times. LOL. In the end, I stopped by Tractor Supply and got a cheap plastic filter. Teaches me not to cut corners. Thanks for sharing. All the best.

@@discoveryboundrv I never forget my pocket knife. It has a clip on it so you can hook it on your pocket. Frankly, I think that's a good way to lose it. I use the knife as a money clip so I pretty much can't leave home without it. I keep it very sharp. This knife is special to me since I won it at a benefit for my youngest son that was killed in a workplace accident 3 years ago. I learned about carefully removing these bottle seals years ago when specs of foil were found in the engine oil of one of our airplanes during an oil analysis. Keep up the good work !

Backwards spot? They have these set up this way in campgrounds? I’ve not heard of that before. Of course we haven’t travelled the US yet.

Any time traveling always keep a eye out for truckstops or gas stations. You never know when the last one is behind you.

How large of a tank do you have in the truck? Did you do a tank upgrade?
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ileana! We have a 48 gallon fuel tank. No upgrades. The F-350 dually comes standard with that tank. It helps out a LOT! 😀👍

Very cute family. I just started watching you guys. You’re entertaining and the videography is really good. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to future videos.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Our first videos are a lot different than our latest ones. Not only did we have an RV learning curve, but a videography one as well. However, it's 100% us! :)

You most likely stated this already, what truck are you using?
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, we are using a 2021 F-350 DRW 4x4. We call him “Maximus”. 😀

I understand how u feel. My dad and I almost got stranded in Montana and with some luck found a gas station in middle of nowhere. Would yall consider getting a toolbox with an extra fuel tank for maximus?
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, thank goodness you guys found that gas station. It's so unexpected and happens so fast. You are traveling for hours and then find that the gas station you're heading towards is closed. We have had many conversations about adding in an extra fuel tank to Maximus. We aren't 100% sold on the specific type, but the next time we head out West, we are definitely going to do something. Extra gas cans are important to have, but an extra fuel tank solves the problem. It's funny you mention that, because EVERYONE has external fuel tanks out West. We laughed cause we were such RV newbies and thought that was so amazing. :) LOL.

You're right about extra fuel out west. It isn't so bad along the Interstate highways but the back road highways can be very problematic, especially for diesel. We always carry spare fuel (10 gallons). If we don't use it, we can help others who may be stranded. I've done that many, many times. We don't use gasoline but carry 5 gallons just the same for others who ran out or who are too low to make it to a fuel station. Oh, by the way, the "poop pipe" is properly known as a "Stinky Slinky".

Did you get air bags for your truck?
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
You're my hero! The short answer is no. Pam and I both have our list of things we want. My problem is that her list takes priority. (Except for a Washer and Dryer...) My goal is to outfit Maximus with the full package including: On-board air tanks, air bags, train horn, and more. It makes life much easier when they are sync'd together. We haven't seen any issues with leveling when hitched up. The dually is a beast! Crossing the country and back again, I have found that Interstate bridges are the absolute worst for turning you into a bull rider in a national competition. I need the air bags to help in those instances and provide more shock protection. More to follow. We will do a whole video on this.....when my list becomes Pam's priority too. :)

How did you miss Riverton, Wy? They have 20+ fuel stations and a Walmart to boot. Oh, well. Beautiful family. Just quit drinking so much of that FORD koolaid you’ve been drinking.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
Riverton looks like a fantastic place to stop by. We drove to Cheyenne via I-80 East. It was just too far out of the way. We did pass by Little America, but we weren’t thinking about fuel at that point. Thanks again and all the best from all of us here. 👍
@prolinebuilds73602 жыл бұрын
I’m curious on why you chose to go that direction? If you were headed to riverton there is a fuel station every 50-80 miles and you would’ve run into a travel plaza as you expected.
@discoveryboundrv2 жыл бұрын
I-80 runs directly from Salt Lake City to Cheyenne. It’s the shortest distance and an easy trip as it’s all interstate driving. There is no direct path from Salt Lake to Cheyenne via Riverton. It would have added an extra two hours to the trip. We will definitely check Riverton out on our next Wyoming visit. It looks like a great place to stop. Thanks for the reference and safe travels. 👍
