I dont mean any dissrespect to Popcorn, but we cant honestly say he made the best shine ever (that said it probably is one of the best in our days), but we do know he was the last legitimate moonshiner. @totallylegalshit75792 жыл бұрын
Even triple run your probably pushing 140 proof if you are running a pot still, not 180. Funny thing is, if you want a beverage Id aim for a lower like 60, 100 max. Its the water with the alcohol that absorbs or carries flavour.

@totallylegalshit75792 жыл бұрын
@@grahamwagner1880 actually if you got 89.5 im really impressed. Sorry if I came off like an ass, I can do that at times. Did you build a reflux still or just a pot still? I always had heard it was near impossible to break 75% with a pot still, and you needed a proper reflux with plates get near 90. Am I wrong? Educate me, because I'd love to build a better still on the cheap.
@grahamwagner18802 жыл бұрын
@@totallylegalshit7579 ok. I used an old stainless steel pressure cooker with some old copper line for a hot water tank. I found it all in my garage that my dad left behind years ago. I started watching the show “moonshiners” and realized they were giving hints at the end of every episode. I replaced the valves with attachments for the copper tubing and a plug for a meat thermometer. I set my temperature low but gauged it with a laser thermometer to get it right. I just let it drip, never a stream, while I sat at the table keeping an eye on it and tasting it once in a while to separate heads, body and tails. I then would distil the body 2 more times and my product was done. I certainly didn’t expect to get that high quality but my father told me about sugar-shine. Get turbo yeast and nothing but water and sugar, in 5 days you are ready to cook… and I didn’t mean to imply you were rude, so the apology is all mine brother. Have fun with this info sir🙂
@totallylegalshit75792 жыл бұрын
@@grahamwagner1880 i run a similar setup, but I switched from a pressure cooker to a giant stock pot that I seal with flower paste. One improvement I made over my last still was to have a way bigger lline leaving my kettl, reducing down to my half inch line for my worm. Got the idea from old school still, think the parts called a "lynn arm". Condenses vapour before the line, sped up my drip but stayed just as potent. Next im going to add a thumper, maybe 2. You have fun as well, thanks for the tips.

I have family that makes moonshine down in Kantuckee and I just want to say that while Popcorn was 100% legit, he wasn't the ONLY actual moonshiner left. He was however one of the last remaining OG's left that used to run moonshine the old school way and fr is a living legend. However, everyone and there mother with legit relatives there knows where to find the stuff so I would imagine there is still some kick a** moonshine rolling around. In Kentucky, living in those mountains it's not like you can just run down the road to the corner store... well, you can but that "corner store" will be about 10-15 miles MINIMUM if you are lucky. Realistically 20-40 miles, and that's driving slow speeds of 25-35 mph navigating up and down hills. So, you have to make do with what you have as best as you have it. It's all about sustainability and a far less reliance on outside resources compared to other places. I don't think many people understand how isolated these mountain treks and backroads can get. Those Appalachians are freaking huge. When you can see for dozens of miles and you don't see s*** for civilization, the mountain dew coming up as the sun increases the temp outside, and the sounds of nature are echoing down the valley... you know exactly where you're supposed to be and where you're not all at the same time lol. At least you can look around and admire the beautiful works of art that nature has provided for you to ponder upon as you stand there lost as f***.
