There aint many talented fighters in the world, most of them just grind to the top thru really hard work and competition in K-1 is really low level compared to MMA or Boxing nowadays, that opponent really no talent

I understand the need for fighters to push their limits when training, to develop endurance, mental toughness, and a never say die attitude. But I don't think that you should train a 44 year old with the same sort of intensity and frequency as say a 22 year old pro fighter. Yes, he should push his limits, and train like a pro, but he's going to need more recovery time because he's over 40. Training him like someone in their 20s will most likely result in injuries. Yes, you have to train incredibly hard, but you also have to know your body and train smart. The old school no pain, no gain attitude can be counter productive if it causes an injury.
@Sirwastealot
@Sirwastealot 7 жыл бұрын
It's a fine balance, Randy couture would agree with you and he was a champ at 45. He trained a lot less than most fighters for the same reason. But there's so many variables involved it's very tricky. Especially for someone new to it like Idris. He has to train very hard to catch up in terms of skills and his body. But still not so hard that it drains his body completely. It's really up to the coaches and you need a smart and attentive coach. Have to say he looked decent here though.
@EmbddedJiuSage
@EmbddedJiuSage 7 жыл бұрын
The guy who starts early will retire early, because the weight cuts and head blows will accumulate over wars in the gym and in the ring, That's why those who start early retire early. Some people start at thirties and are still keeping up. From what I see here, his body responds in a good way, and he looks fantastic.

There was a huge change in the pace of things after the taunt. In the beginning Idris got wailed on and couldn't land a thing. Afterwards he was too tired to keep his hands up but still nailing the other guy because his opponent just sat there with a weak guard waiting to be hit. Pretty sure it was staged and that was the signal.

Idriss Elba is thoroughly inspiring! I will get my are to work and implement work out routines of interval sprinting, interval running, calisthenics, abs training, ploymetrics, and weight lifting at least three to four times per week for not less than one hour per session over the course of the next four months, and when I've got significantly improved fitness levels especially in terms of endurance, I will then go into kick boxing and boxing heavy bag and focus pads workouts and intense amateur sparing, while periodically interspacing these with the sprints, interval running, calisthenics, ploymetrics, abs et al . And yes, also stretching. I will NEVER miss a leg and abs day again unless I'm sick or flying...

If they did a movie on an aged out boxer wanting another shot? Idris is perfect for that role. He has the body and training for it!

His opponent: "I think I'm in the best physical shape ever." Bruh is at least 20% body fat...

if you think bf% plays a part in how good of shape someone is in then you obviously have ZERO knowledge in fighting or fitness in general, really.

Can't tell if trolling or stupid. How can you NOT think bf% plays a huge role in the fighting game? Sure you can be 'in shape' at 20% bf. But to say he's in the best physical shape of his life and he's a professional fighter is a bit of a laugh. Why wouldn't he cut down and fight smaller opponents? He puts himself at a disadvantage for what reason exactly? Edit: Liking your own comments? Really?

Since you're THIS ignorant in your unwillingness to listen to someone who is vastly more knowledgable in fitness than you, there is simply no point in arguing. Thanks for starting your comment off with "Can't tell if trolling or stupid" because immediately I knew not to read another word of your nonsense. FYI. Save the insults till the end. Moron

'Unwillingness to listen to someone who is vastly more knowledgeable in fitness than you' -anonymous keyboard warrior. Let me spell it out for you. In the fight game, opponents fight each other within an agreed weight class....Meaning it is to a fighter's advantage to be at a low body fat percentage (not including heavyweights for natural muscle growth limitations on the human body, after a certain amount) so they can pack as much muscle onto their frame as possible. Does this mean more muscle=better fighter? Obviously not. Why do you not see any 'out of shape' fighters in professional fighting organizations? (again, not including certain heavy weights) Because carrying extra, unnecessary weight (read: fat) not only slows a fighter down, it wears on their physical endurance as the fight goes on. Skill is the most important aspect in a fight and a close second would be cardiovascular endurance.

1) You're guessing he's 20% body fat. And 2) It would be EASILY argued that having less than 10% body fat is counter-productive to being in 'the best physical shape'. Body fat reeeeeeally doesn't determine 'peak condition'.
