Before I watched this video I imagined the voice saying "English toffee" and then when the voice said "English toffee" it sounded exactly like I'd imagined. Perfection. I love How It's Made and the two different voice actors they've had. ...that I know of 🤯

Y'notice how in processes that involve 50 pound mixers, they no problem telling us "165 degress Celsius" and "35 pounds of flour", but in *this* -- where it's small enough to make at home -- it's "secret ingredients" and "a top-secret target temperature"? :-)

MrWnw You can make bread, pasta, stocks, grind or grate or chop your own spices, make your own food, but people still buy premade stuff due to any combination of convenience, lack of cooking skill, or indifference towards the quality of what they’re eating.

@@agentstona Dude, chill, it's only sweets. I'm saying this from the perspective of an English person who has been eating toffee all his life. When I think of English toffee I generally think of a chewy, dairy based toffee with no toppings or anything. Plus, we don't use pecans often in English cooking (at least not where I'm from, could be more common in other parts of the country but IDK). I can't even get this kind of toffee over here, all results on Amazon UK and such for "English toffee" are basically any toffee made in England, but primarily the aforementioned plain stuff. Also, check the other comments. There's tonnes of people from England who's saying the same things as me. In fact, my comment's probably the least negative out of any of them. I literally said that it looks good. I love chocolate and nuts and those aren't necessarily uncommon additions to English toffee. I totally think it (or at least some variation of it) could catch on here. If you still don't believe me or the hundreds of other Englishmen in the comments, here's a direct quote from the wikipedia entry for Toffee (a source is cited in the actual article) "A popular variant in the United States is English toffee, which is a very buttery toffee often made with almonds ... Although named English toffee, it bears little resemblance to the wide range of confectionery known as toffee currently available in the United Kingdom."

This is not, repeat NOT “English” toffee!! There are soooo many videos on You Tube making similar claims but none are the real thing. For a start off we don’t put nuts in our toffee ( not unless it’s labelled as nut toffee and that’s more of a speciality toffee than plain English toffee). Also, as others have pointed out , English toffee contains dairy products such as butter, cream etc. So please, enough with the nut toffee vids, they may be toffee but not what we eat here in the UK. Sorry!
