Rajiv ji is right when he says there is rampant mediocrity today in the new generation.On the social media one comes across millions of nationalist youth who do the pak/anti national bashing, name calling, ramble rousing etcetera; but what we need are not an army of trollers, but an army of nationalists, who actually serve national interests by first developing themselves into individuals with skills/expertise/knowledge that can effectively be employed to fight the battle on a given plane(strategic /intellectual & academic/social/cultural/political & electoral).We must be in this for the long haul and that requires serious commitment. The majority of so-called nationalists are prone to a "feel good syndrome". This kind of attitude is not going to get us anywhere. We as a nation still lack collective identity, it is high time we should rejuvenate ideological and cultural glory of Bharata. This will play a crucial role in addressing the regional, social, religious differences and it will also help in addressing the inferiority complex in the minds of young Hindus and Muslims vis-a -vis West and Middle East respectively. Who is stopping the government from re-establishing Kashmiri Pandits back in their ancestral homes. This has to be done by force. Does Indian government have such guts and grits? BJP came to power twice since 1990 when Pandits were thrown out of Kashmir. It has done nothing so it is only all talk no action.

The window of Indian engagement with Pakistan is shrinking by the day, The quicker China gains leverage and deploys assets in Pakistan, the faster India loses whatever little advantage it currently has. Kashmir problem has been allowed to fester for too long. Sindh / Balochistan secession should have been supported years ago etc. Unfortunately, Indian politicians have lacked the interest & will to decisively engage Pakistan militarily or strategically, all actions are reactive. India is under active attack internally by Breaking India forces; externally encircled by China over land & sea; and shackled into inaction by US/Israel interests. In spite of this, Modi and his govt. seem more interested in burnishing their international image and to date have not taken any strategic actions on geo-political issues, other than to posture ineffectively using "surgical strikes" in response to extreme provocations. As has always happened, India's national security is mortgaged to outside influences and serious action never taken to end long-running problems, which are kept simmering until they become too big to fully resolve to a stable equilibrium.

The question of Rajiv Ji about pakistan been able to get multi aligned help from both communist and democratic countries like China, Russia and USA, while Indian diplomacy could not and also about internal disturbance from local Sunnis when an all out war is waged against Pakistan; has been intelligently circumvented by Gen GD Bakshi. The General, In ideal conditions is absolutely right about our military capabilities, but we are still a struggling country from within and do not have deep pockets like China to afford a long term war or even a battle. Analogy of India with a heavy weight elephant, who, when gets up will be relentless and unstoppable is a rhetoric that is not affordable lest it may not only empty our pockets even for food, but may also lead to balkanization of our country. We are so heavily dependent on Saudi Arabia for oil, and have to a heavy price to antagonise them. Our around 85% of defence budget whatever little goes in paying salaries and pensions, how can we swiftly modernise in mere 5-6 Lakh Crore rupees. Further unlike China, we are totally dependent on arms support on USA, Europe, Russia and Israel. Despite being 3rd largest economy, by way of sheer population, we aren't strong enough to be able to stand on our own feet, with little indiginisation of military weaponry. That means heavy investment in private sector RnD and industrialisation of defence equipment manufacturer. As Rajiv Ji has emphasized earlier we are decades behind china in AI, Avionics, military grade semiconductors and metallurgy to be able to fight even conventional battlefield. Focus has to be export of technology, and not just being servants to Google's, Facebooks and twitter...... But given present condition with danger from within like Kisaan, movement, NRC/ CAA opposition, Pro Pak mentality of good chunk, Maoists, leftist..... This is rather a pipedream.

The question put by Rajiv is straight forward and plain: What are the options available to India in tackling the Pakistani menace? Gen. Bakshi says many things in response, which are quite o. k. but not so straight forward. I do not know whether somebody in the government is listening and would take note of these suggestions or not. My take: We - that is, India - should be very clear of a few facts. 1. Pakistan as a nation is based on their religious mandate of cleansing of the world - including India - of the kafirs or non-believers. India is their nearest enemy, old sour in their side and target of their first fury. Till Pakistan is what it is, India can not live in peace and security. 2. The world is what it is. China or the US or Russia, all, have their own interests and strategy to kill two birds with one shot. So, India should take this reality into account and take the Pakistan problem as its own problem and deal with it by taking into account of the world reality. 3. Atomic weapons of Pakistan is a reality and India has to find an answer to that reality in a reasonable manner. With these preliminaries, my suggestion: Pakistan problem should be handled with a comprehensive approach. A. Help Balochistan freedom fighters in every possible way. B. Divert Sind River waters by unilaterally abrogating the treaty in question. It should be done quickly and before China is able to construct storage of diverted Brahmputra waters. C. Help and encourage the Pakistani thinking people, liberals, Sufi stream there. All possible help. D. India should inform and get united the world opinion against the Pakistani terrorism on the war footing. Hold urgent conferences, leaders-meets, cooperating treaties with the willing parties. E. India HAS TO BE READY to answer Pakistan nuclear blackmail. An open policy that if Pakistan provokes India enough it is not Pakistan but India that MAY use its atomic arsenal and not the other way round. Also get its own missile-shield, awaks etc. in place. Develop technology fast and fast enough, at whatever cost. F. At the same time, parallel with this approach, India must advance speed of the development of her economy, again at whatever the cost - defeating in whatever way possible the internal political opposition to such growth. G. Coordinate with the anti-terrorist plans and initiatives of the countries that are the sufferers of this menace, be they US or Israel or Russia. G. Try to create understanding with China; give the reasons that they understand. etc.
