I marry a person from another faith under the sole condition that me and the children will follow Hinduism. I told this to people who made romantic advances and guess what? They all backed off. I have zero tolerance for marital conversions nowadays. In my past I also fell into the tolerance trap. It is very painful to wake up and realize that the other person and their family never respected your faith in the first place.

The trouble is that we Hindus are not confident of our culture, rituals , customs, traditions. We have been drilled in our heads that our customs are tribals and ancient and so they can supersede with theirs. And Mr Malhotra is absolutely right in saying that we need our priests to claim that they are more aware of the rituals than anybody else. We get driven down to believe that our tradition is useless and nonsense because we are not taught about our rituals and customs by our elders or our education systems......

Yes.... The Hindu rituals n customs, actually how it's practised n carried forward needs to be taught in our academic syallabus, not only this, also a method how best these can be passed on from one generation to the next must be framed.

Saif Ali Khan's second Hindu wife Kareena Kapoor is also confused/ignorant about Hindu Dharma. They named their new born son "Taimur", who was a butcher of Hindus. Whereas the other two Khans -- Aamir and Shah Rukh's wives are no different. All their children follow Islam. On screen, they preach Hindu-Muslim unity, sometimes make fun of Hindu characters/symbols, but in their personal life they are 'hardcore Muslims' and will never compromise on that. It's good that at least one Khan -- Salman is not yet married, hope he will remain like that.

Interfaith marriage is a weapon used by the Abrahamic religions to carry out inculturation of people from different faith. I still remember my father making me aware of how people must get converted to marry a Muslim. He is a lawyer so knew the legality behind this. But this video exposed me to the larger picture of Pop-Love-Jihad practice in US. The other day I was watching a podcast featuring an African American activist. He also pointed out that interfaith marriage is being used against Africans in US to disorganize them and confuse their identity. I know a man (Hindu Brahmin) who married a Muslim lady but refused to get converted. They had a Registry Marriage under The Special Marriage Act. Unfortunately, the family of the lady disowned her and didn't even attend the ceremony.

This is from my book, "All three Abrahamic faiths accept the teachings of the Second of the “Ten Commandments.” It states “I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God punishing children for the inequity of parents, to the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.” Successive Abrahamic scriptures have tried to perfect this jealous God’s message."

Fascinating discussion and thank you Rajivji and Dilipji for an enlightening talk on a very relevant topic. I myself married a white Caucasian but was lucky as he is a Buddhist. Hence we had a Hindu wedding ( our priest is a retired English teacher now teaching by Sanskrit and he explained everything- important for both of us) and a civil marriage. We have a temple in our home and our children had thread ceremonies( again beautifully explained in English by our priest)! We go to temples- Hindu and Buddhist- and my husband has no problems that children brought up as Hindus. I've been lucky that I've not had to compromise on my Dharma and have par by the way and in-laws who've been supportive. Also my husband became vegetarian too- this was non-negotiable for me! Regards

In India some states has bring laws about conversion that any person is converted to another religion has to fill out a form in front of magistrate of state and then and then that conversion will be legal otherwise not. Hindu priests are trained to perform rituals in temple. They are not the right people for prenuptial counseling! For that, Hindu Acharyas are preferred for this purpose, they have the knowledge of the religion and they can be trained in the legal matters as well. If you empower priests for indoctrination purposes, the very beautiful open ended fabric of the Dharmlc belief will be lost. Dogmas and casteism will creep in. Stick to civil marriage and have prenuptial written agreements in place. Children could be trained in both religions and let them decide which faith to follow when they come of age. This could be part of the agreement as well. Enjoyed the discussion.
@InterfaithShaadi7 жыл бұрын
Beautiful statement, "Children could be trained in both religions and let them decide which faith to follow when they come of age" but a church will want baptism, Jews will want Bris/Bar mitzvah and Muslims will want Shahadah (I used the term BBS). The BBS is a sign of exclusivity. In an interfaith marriage, if one manages to keep the BBS out, then above quoted statement is possible. Bottomline, the BBS is a social sin for interfaith couples.

I am in an interfaith interracial marriage. I come from a devout Hindu family and my wife is from a devout Christian family. My family opened a temple and lead services weekly. Her family is very involved with their church. In fact, her two brothers are pastors at the church. When my wife and I met we instantly fell in love. Religion or culture to us was not important. In fact to try to avoid the whole religious argument we were willing to just do a court marriage. However, neither of our parents were having that and we did both an American ceremony and a Hindu ceremony. Christians are taught to argue their religion well. Hindus I feel just go with the flow. However, I was forced to learn and actually grew to love Hinduism because of my wife. I had to explain things to her and her family. Going into a Hindu Temple can be overwhelming to a westerner, however, after everything is broken down it becomes clear and things become very logical. Her family has attended events at our temple and we have attended events at their church. The important thing is to have mutual respect for one another and understanding that everyone has their own views. I know this is not possible with certain people but there are good people out there. I am happily married just thought I would share.

But, the muslim is clear . He has to maximize muslim population on Earth . The Hindu is bheja fried .She cannot marry saif ali without conversion .mulla won't allow it.If she remains a Hindu , saif is still a pure muslim , but she is a kafir.If bollywood politics allows her to remain a Hindu/christian whatever, , her children would be "naajaayaz", as per shari'a. Therefore,only saif has property rights over "his" children . Even her love for them/theirs for her, has to be apportioned as "he" ordains. This is a disgusting topic. How and why would she be happy about the name, "taimur the lame" , The under -current of threat automatically goes with it . that the child will be maimed if she does not agree to that blackmail.Thu thu on bollywod and mulla's islam .The main CAUSE of DECLINE, DILUTION, DENIGRATION , PERMANENT LOSS, DESTRUCTION OF HINDUISM .The few good have tarnished their image too , with the promiscuous, insensitive company they keep.Bollywood, any film industry is tawayaf ka akhaada .

Namaste, agree with most points and in awe of the monumental efforts made by Sh Rajiv Malhotra ji and Dr Dilip Amin ji to warn and protect Hindu Americans and their new generations. But accepting Jesus,Allah,Yahweh etc is a meek compromise, an affront to our Dharma and ancestors,and a sign of weakness; high time Hindus everywhere take the Abrahmic onslaught head-on. Even the thought of any Hindu marrying outside of his/her religion and having 'composite 50-50' culture at home should be unacceptable.It wouldn't even happen if children are brought up in a Dharmic upbringing and where Dharma is followed by their parents.That is the surest protection against Hindu numbers decreasing through inter-faith marriage etc. ( excellent point made that interfaith marriage largely causes people going out of Hindu fold versus say Muslim interfaith marriage which helps increase Muslim demography ). Looking for any 'Equality' with Abrahamic ideologies will only get Hindus pain and extinction in the not so long term.You understand and state their 'exclusivity' well,why make Hindus lower their guard trying to 'assimilate' desert gods into our own pantheon . Here is a resource on Jesus that might help Dr Amin ji change his mind about him - www.voiceofin.com/index.php?p=sr&Uc=8185990166&l=0 Pranams

Agree to "Muslim interfaith marriage which helps increase Muslim demography." However, unfortunately Hindu parents and children are not any close to converting others; like Islam, we have not taught them exclusivism and superiority. With this being a reality, 50-50% is the best a Hindu parent could hope for to start with. However, this is a trick to expose the Abrahamic exclusivist while negotiating before marriage. A religious fanatic Abrahamic will NOT settle for "NO BBS" deal, and with that, hopefully our secular pluralist youths will get alerted and hopefully walk away. I replied other place why I said about Jesus and will not repeat it here. However, in an interfaith marriage with a Christian, if we agree to accept Jesus but no baptism, that is not going to be accepted by the fanatic Christian family, again it will help expose their exclusivity.

Koran requires that Muslims marry Muslim and spouse has to convert if they want to claim to be Muslim. In Hindu/Sanatana system the couple will become an outcaste/bahiskrita by jati, or news caste/jati will be formed. With such ethos conversion will be one way street. Lest we forget eminent R G Bhandarkar, a born GSB like me, and Mahatma Gandhi were thrown out of their respective jati/caste and this was not enforcement by Brits. Abrahamic religions are assertive and have set up an infrastructure demanding membership and loyalty to the faith, with strong "us versus them" attitude. On a different note, I'd like Rajivji to look at India from a different perspective - not religious but linguistic. The way Abrahamic religions have become a dominant system, the Hindi speaking "North Indian" mindset has become a dominant system in India. Non-Hindi speaking people feel the same way about Hindi speaking people - of being dominated, denied recognition, and digested. In my view, Hinduism is not strictly based on religious and spiritual pathways. Languages form an integral part of it too, Sanskrit included. So the linguistic prejudice and dominance is something that is dividing people due to sheer ignorance and lack of respect for each other. Both parties are Hindus in some way. However now they are divided due to fear of a dominant linguistic culture helping the other linguistic groups to experience atrophy of their systems. Everything is integrated - language, belief, philosophy and pathways. I think some soul searching has to be done to educate Indians to respect each other's language and not "tolerate" each other.
@sandeepba17 жыл бұрын
Linguistic differences within India is a tangential topic and I am not sure that we should expect Rajivji to explore this topic. There are other influential public personalities who can expound on that topic. Rajivji is a one-man army in defining, comparing, and clarifying Sanathana Dharma, against aggressive, global forces (Leftist/Marxist, Christian, Islamic), but don't think that his scholarly interest lies in analyzing intra-Hindu/intra-Indian differences. While regional and linguistic differences are present in India, and are cause for anxiety for some, they are still relatively small differences, versus the large divide b/w Dharmic and Abrahamic religions. Rajivji should continue with his exemplary work in shedding light on India's civilizational ethos and dharmic philosophy. The opponents of this ethos and philosophy are many, Machiavelian, well-connected, well-funded and powerful ..... and have 2000 years of experience in subjugating and conquering native cultures and peoples. So let's be clear-eyed in this Kurukshetra battlefield.

Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? Jesus said it himself, why then seek other ways to bring peace in his name repent.

Mutual settlement of hormonal needs are personal choice, but to form responsible societies we need to have responsible relationship. So concept of marriage originated that means at least we care and take responsibility of one person.

It is the same. For example, 45.2% of Muslim boys and 45.1% of Muslim girls marry outside their faith. Same for Hindus. Read more at www.interfaithshaadi.org/blog/?p=213 and www.interfaithshaadi.org/blog/?p=173

Thank you for a very brave, honest and timely discussions on sensitive topics Rajivji. But the fundamental thing missed here is that human relationships are inherently superficial. This is not a bad thing per se, just basic human nature. So we cannot blame Hindus (mostly looking to assimilate to a different culture) for not bringing up complex discussions - this does not help put food on the table for them. The people that should be blamed are the Indians within India itself who actively ignore their own cultural roots and seek superficial rewards when their responsibility dictates otherwise. This would include the IIT professors, Ivy League educated economists, Globalist MNC executives, etc. That's where this cultural shift should start to take place - unfortunately this is still a frigne view which is why we need more prople like yourself bravely speaking out.

Let Bismillah be one of Vishnu Sahasranama. In Rig Veda Vishnu is a minor god who acquired additional names over the time in the process of integrating immigrants/invaders to India. That was a "Sanatana" process of absorbing, in Rajiv Malhotra's language "digest", new comers to India into Hindu/Sanatana fold.

Sorry Mr Malhotra, giving pandits more power will make Hinduism just like abrahamic religions. Do you not see that the reason Abrahamic religions became so hard core was to put power in the hands of the priests? ALL dharmic religions provide less power to the pundits. Let's keep it that way.
@InterfaithShaadi6 жыл бұрын
It is not a question of giving power to Pandits but simply educate them. We should teach them about interfaith laws (www.interfaithshaadi.org/blog/?p=981) and practices of Abrahamic.

@MrDillbud7 жыл бұрын
swamiyogesh, furthermore, Hindu faith is a showbiz in the whole family. beef, pork, sub chalta hai.They belong to (pseudo)seculars. Atheism, as well as islam and christianity has to be strictly followed, at the cost of Sanaatana Dharma. I don't think Kapoor family is a good example. But , Rajivji is only mentioning it to make his point . He's not going deeper into their lifestyles. That is a totally different issue. secularism is a sham to insidiously pehle cchul se , phir dhamki se , and secretively as well as explicitly annihilate Hinduism , Convert the whole population to islam and christianity .If we Hindus don't become aware of this, we are idiots.
@gameprofile37257 жыл бұрын
That is why Hindus are confused ignorant people and end being taken advantage of . She has said she would not convert ,even her family members thought that .Look at what happened later . Her father was Hindu mother Christian yet Kareena if Christian then its the same thing ,Hindus are not assertive . Her sons name is Taimur , the person who created mountain of hindu skulls .

Excellent explanation.........on very sensitive issues......... As our Sanatan vedic Dharma, we must choose our life partner within our Dharma's . Doesn't matter which cast they are in. As my experience for we Hindus, Ibrahimc are not suitable for us because Sanatan Vaidic Dharma is only Dharma in the world, rest are tribes following one or two books for life blindly so they are never ever trust worthy in the world, and they never believe in reincarnation(its biggest differences). Many many thanks Rajivji and Dilipji. नमस्कार ।🙏🇮🇳🙏

Thank you. I experienced it...I was naive to think everyone was open and flexy......agree with what you have revealed. At least 1 Muslims are upfront that they are rigid so most folks keep away from them unless you are wiling to convert unlike the others. One method is to insist that he or she is superior and few go to impose the superior and colonise the other person.

Rajivji -- I admire your work and have been watching your videos and reading your books. I am reasonably well read and agree with most of your views but I think in this video, you are committing the error of over-generalization. I know this topic intimately -- at least on the topic of interfaith marriage between a Hindu and a Christian. I know people who did not convert. The children know their Hindu tradition and the Christian tradition as well. In fact, there are some Christians who are not fundamentalists -- they can be Universal Universalists. They can be open-minded and accept and respect other religions and traditions. Also to characterize Muslim males as being chauvinistic is unfair. I know a lot of Hindu males who are chauvinistic too. Also, why don't you bring up the topic of arranged marriages and Manu Smriti? It's great that you are defending Hinduism against Hindu phobia but at the same time you have to be critical of the bad things within our tradition.
@InterfaithShaadi6 жыл бұрын
Dear Shekarman, I promote the idea of interfaith marriage with EQUALITY. I have seen when Hindu marries a religious fanatic Christian, it creates lots of problem later in life. Most Christians (at least in the West) are not fundamentalists. Best barometer if a Christian or Muslim is fanatic or not is the expectation of religious conversion for marriage (baptism or shahadah, respectively). This old practice of conversion of the spouse for marriage should end.

Rajivji, you do a fantastic job. However, Shah Rukh's (SRK) story INDICATES that the father (SRK) is teaching his son that the Gayatri mantra and Bismillah are substitutes. It isn't PROOF that it does matter to him on philosophical basis, besides a father wanting to provide an alternate view SRK's action may simply be out of habit and cultural preference from what SRK was taught as a kid.

There is nothing wrong with Interfaith marriages, I don't know why I am seeing comments where people are saying it's wrong. If two people marry and they are very faithful to their own respective religions, both parties should respect each other's beliefs and have the tolerance to pass down both the beliefs.

Christian Divorce is an oxymoron. If you divorce you should be considered not a Christian. Same thing in Hinduism though it extends to seven rebirths but hopefully this your seventh rebirth with your spouse.
