Yeah, that's why I made a material function.You can just drag and drop the material function into any material you want and you will get this same effect. I forgot the mention that in the video.You might have used material functions like world aligned blend in your material.This will work in the same way. You will be able to add it to any material.

Ok, It looks like a very complicated material.When you connect it to the character mesh, it is not working?

I just wanted to check though, I'm not using the shooter-template, so I tried just using the Even Beginplay, but it doesn't seem to be working there... any idea of where I'm going wrong?

If you want to change the disintegration effect from a fire texture to the hex texture he showed at the beginning inside of your material instances, you can convert the fire texture you copied into your material to a parameter!

So when I put an object with this material it works fine with the emissive, but when I click Play, the emissive doesn't show up. It disappears as it should but the emissive doesn't show... and as mentioned, this happens only after I click play. Can you tell why that can happen?

Thanks for such an informative video! Could you pls advice why changing of the color param in the material instance changes not only the color of the edge but the material entirely?

You need to connect a color node to the base color for that.

great tutorial... but i am having an issue with the function. I followed you perfectly throughout and when it comes to just before making an instance... it doesnt compile. In my material I wish to use the function in it says "Function dissolve_material_func: [node if} Arthmetic between types float and float3 are underfined" and then under that another error saying "Function dissolve_material_func: [node if] Cannot force a cast between None-numeric types" please help

Hello sir. Could you tell me why a disintegrate will work on an actor but not on a character?
@UnrealCG6 жыл бұрын
It's probably because you have multiple materials on the character if so you have to add the material function to all the materials

Is there any way to make the material disintegrate when the value is 0.41 instead of 1?

Just multiple the scalar amount value by 2.43 then clamp it between 0-1

Hey thanks so much for this !! But what to do when my mesh have several materials instead only one? I tried it with mesh with 3 materials and always only 1 material disintegrate, other ones stays same
@UnrealCG6 жыл бұрын
You need to drive the scalar parameter of all the materials with the timeline or you could just create a scalar parameter collection and hook it up with all the material

I am getting SM5 error ... (node if) if input B must be of type float
@UnrealCG7 жыл бұрын
I think you have a vector 3 connected, Change that to a scalar input function.
@awesome2-bers5876 жыл бұрын
2 questions: 1. How would you make it so that it disintegrates into another material? For example instead of transitioning to 1 which makes it invisible, it does all the effects but the invisible part is changed for another material. 2. How do you repeat or reset the effect? I have it set up so that it goes from 0-1 and then 1-0 using the timelines and a flip flop node to use the same key, but it can only be used those 2 times. Any other time I try to use it, it just pops between 0 & 1 (and vice versa) instead of doing the disintegration effect. It seems to me like it's completely ignoring the timelines after doing it the first 2 times. Other than that great tutorial although the audio volume is a quite low.

Question 2: To me that sounds like you have your blueprints plugged into the "Play" node of the timeline. You want "Play from start".
@RexArtTv6 жыл бұрын
How would you add a faded sound effect to this?
@UnrealCG6 жыл бұрын
Download some sound effects and play it when the projectile hits the mesh.

Greetings! This is a great tutorial! I would really appreciate it if you could explain how to apply this effect to a 2d sprite... as of an effect to disintegrate a character when it teleports in a 2d platform game.... I couldn’t apply this material to the animated sprites without compromising the sprite itself... Thanks in advance!

Everything works great, but I'm having an issue with my projectiles. They are still disappearing after the object is gone, as if it were still there. I'm sure its an easy fix but I don't know Blueprints well enough to make it register that the object is destroyed. Any tips?
@UnrealCG7 жыл бұрын
That's really easy to do, just like how we destroyed the bullet.Just Drag from the finished output of the timeline and right click and search for destroy actor, for target right click and search for self and connect that to the target. Hope this helps.

Awesome worked like a charm. Thanks man! You got yourself a sub.

I was gonna say the same. After the effect is said and done, just delete it. Kinda like when you hit the object with the projectile, it deletes it, same thing with the rock. Good tutorial, You were hard to understand due to your English, but it was very well informative and I learned quite a lot. Thank you!!
