Disney Cruise from Galveston (Better than Port Canaveral?)

I would suggest staying in Galveston the night before; I am cruising in December and will stay the night before (plus I love Galveston, so am looking forward to spending a little time there).

Sorry this is not about Galveston but for Port Canaveral. What do you guys think is the best transport from MCO to Port Canaveral?? I will be travelling with kids. Thanks

Great question. We’ve done both private transfer and the DCL bus. After our last cruise, we said we’ll always do the bus in the future. Our private transfer showed up super late to pick us up and we started to get stressed about making it in time. If you’re on the DCL bus, you know they’re in communication with the ship and you won’t get left behind if there are any traffic issues or anything else delaying you. Plus you get priority at the port and pull right up to the curb where the other private vehicles have to wait in a long line. I hope this helps! Let me know if I can answer any other questions!

No, it’s essentially a Disney branded charter bus. There are seat belts but car seats are not required or provided.

This has been super helpful! The bus to port has been so hard to get answers about! Does it pick up right at the Marriott front lobby or somewhere else?

Totally agreed. Yes, it picks up right at the Marriott, at the doors to the left of the front desk. My husband went down to the lobby around 6am to work out and there were already Disney employees in the lobby who were able to answer questions for him. They were the only ones who were helpful. The front desk employees were giving us conflicting info. 😕

I originally had the harbor house hotel in Galveston booked for the night before, but transportation to Galveston was either expensive, or would only drop off at the ports because there are 3 cruises leaving the day we arrive. I just booked the Marriott and reserved Disney transportation. April can not get here fast enough!!

Port Canaveral just has that extra something. But for the price, I’ll take Galveston for sure!

You keep using the word sailing, but a cruise ship is not a sailboat. And I kept hoping you would mention how much that "cheaper" cruise cost compared to the one in Florida 😢

Sailing is the terminology used for cruising, even if it’s not a sailboat. As far as pricing, there are many variables when choosing a cruise so I would encourage you to play around on the Disney Cruise website to find the best option for you!
