If the cars ride is actually on dirt, that would be a maintenance nightmare. Mud, erosion, dust, and stability issues would plague this ride.
@vrghr8 күн бұрын
Exactly! Have you ever seen a motocross track after a number of heats have been run on it? Ruts 2 and 3 feet deep! Dirt thrown up over the berms. Washboarding, and not just the woopdidoos intentionally built in. Pot holes. Etc. Now imagine a dirt track where the vehicles run in exactly the same track for 6, 8, 10 hours a day, every day. Then throw in water and erosion from rain runoff. And the dirt and dust drifting on the wind across the park. This would have to be a stabilized concrete or similar surface, no matter what coloring and texture they added to make it look like "cartoon dirt". And it would react like every other similar surface when it got wet; it gets slicker. Good luck running that in FL without a lot of weather downtime! And Jonas is right: The methodology doesn't matter if the rider's experience doesn't change. If a coaster accelerates from the launch at 3Gs to hit 80MPH over a set number of yards, it doesn't matter to the riders if that launch is linear accelerators, air launch, or some exotic never-before-system. It still feels the same to the person in the car. If it's a "trackless" ride system or a rail, unless the ride does something radically different the experience to the customer in the car is the same.

Disney: We can't seem to make a Dinosaur ride people like, so we are going to spent tons of money to retheme one of the areas that form the basis for Animal Kingdom to South America. (Without adding any animal exhibits) Also Disney: Designs a ride that is effectively legally distinct not copyrighted Jurassic Park. (The movie, not a water ride.) Get some animatronic Dinosaurs in sheltered areas to deal with weather issues (Caves, Fake Forest, etc.) and you have a Dinosaur ride unlike anything on the East Coast. If done with even an ounce of care it would print money. But, Disney hasn't exactly been good about effectively using money, have they? Add a small South America area? Nope. Demolish everything and start over. Genius.

In regards to Villains Land. To be fair, Disney has a massive problem with announcing things too far in advance. To be honest, outside the most basic details they *shouldn't* be making concrete announcements for upcoming things. Galaxy's Edge was a disappointment, Avenger's Campus was a disappointment, Pixar Pier was a disappointment, Tiana's Bayou Adventure is a disappointment. They keep announcing things in detail and then fall drastically short on delivery. They should not be sharing concepts of things until the concept is 100% finalized and construction has started. (The way Epic Universe has done it.) The second problem is time table. They could announce the greatest attraction of all time but, if it is 3 years from construction and 7 from opening then who cares. If anything they are showing their hand to the competition to possibly beat them to opening. (Imagine if Universal added a ride like the planned cars ride but had it open in under 2 years.) This is all in a desperate attempt to keep shareholders from running. But, they are digging a deeper hole for dirt in hopes they can climb out. I am sure Epic Universe will be fun, but it won't be so great nobody goes back to Disney World. (It's Disney's own prices and policies that will see to that.) Point being, not everything Disney makes needs to the greatest attraction ever created. For example, the Voyage of the Little Mermaid is a great addition but it's just Haunted Mansion featuring Jodi Benson. For that matter, some of Disney's best rides are decades old. What they *do* need to do, is make sure when they announce something they deliver on what they announce. You can't get people excited and then under deliver, that is how you get people upset with rides that otherwise are perfectly fine. Nor can you announce something then take half a decade to add it, because at that point people have lost all the excitement. (See the King Thanos ride in Avenger's Campus.) Bottomline, Disney's problem is not new attractions or things to do in the parks. It is the constant degradation of the experience in the parks they already have, and the unreasonable increases in prices that never seem to stop. If they had just maintained what they already had they would not be in the position they are now, desperately throwing out concepts and announcements in hopes that they can convince investors they can get back on track. (While at the same time, refusing to correct the mistakes they have been making.)

In the long run we don't know if this is going to work on our only time will tell
@ThemeParkZilver8 күн бұрын
@@animezilla4486 Normal I would agree, the problem is Disney has had a continuous track record of under performance or extended wait. Tron, Guardians: Cosmic Rewind, Journey of Water and the Epcot make over took years to make. (With only Guardians being well received.) Avengers Campus in both Paris and Anaheim got downgraded from the concepts, Galaxy's Edge in Florida and Anaheim is the same. (Galaxy's Edge was so bad in fact they removed it from the Paris expansion entirely.) World of Frozen in Paris will have one ride, and won't get the Oaken Sliding Sleighs from Hong Kong. (Despite otherwise being a clone.) The point here isn't, will it work. My point is they shouldn't be making announcements like this. Even in the best case scenario, they will get people disappointed by what actually gets made. Take Avenger's Campus, originally it was meant to be a living world of superheroes. Each location, Anaheim, Paris, Hong Kong & the Cruise Ship were meant to be unique experiences. But, between concept and execution things changed. The Spider-man ride that everyone thought would be suspended to make you feel like you were swinging became just an upgraded Toy Story Mania. This would be duplicated for Paris without even taking the time to change the scenes. (Tivan Tower isn't in Paris for example and the Pym Kitchen looks different from Anaheim's.) In addition, Anaheim was intended to get a Quinjet ride which took you to Wakanda. (Still waiting on that over 5 years later.) Hong Kong is also short a ride with a coaster intended to take over the old Autopia area there. Like Galaxy's Edge the intended "Alive" area was reduced to occasional meet and greets and characters waving from a balcony. It doesn't matter how much I like what is in these areas, it is still a let down from what was promised. (And that will always have a negative effect on how I view the areas.) The same principle applies to Tiana's Bayou Adventure. For all the complaints of "isms" the simple fact is they didn't give us half of what they promised. They cut the boat in the tree, they cut Naveen from nearly every scene, they cut the brand new soundtrack and songs (plural) they promised. Beyond that, the concepts make the bayou look alive with critters and music like Splash was. Instead we have a small handful of things, playing songs from the film, even though it takes place after the film. Even the big drop scene was downgraded from what should have been a Dig A Little Deeper style showstopper to a tiny cameo from Mama Ode. I don't care if Splash or Tiana is "better," Tiana did not live up to the attraction they promised, and if for no other reason is a let down because of it. The one place Disney didn't let people down recently was the Anaheim ToonTown remake and that is largely due to the limited press and concept sharing it had before being open to the public. Again, my point isn't will it work. My point is they really need to keep the concepts and announcements limited until they have significantly more concrete plans to make it. You don't have to hate something to be disappointed. But as an entertainment company something Disney really doesn't want is a pattern of disappointment. Because eventually you get people expecting it. (Listen again to how some of the panelists talk in the video and you'll see what I mean.)

Disney needs to create a fifth park. It needs to be called “fantasy land” or something like that where they can throw in all their IPs for rides that don’t make any sense anywhere else. Sort of like how EU is doing. However, as a civil designer, I know that most of the surrounding land is wetlands. And according to federal law, if you remove wetland, you have to build wetland somewhere else in the area or state. So while removing 100 acres of wetland doesn’t seem like an issue, it’s a massive undertaking as they now have to find more wetland to build do to the wetland reserve and conservation laws. Not to mention most of those wetlands catch the water drainage from the parks. So removing 100acres of water retention means that you have to be able to distribute infrastructure in order to handle the excess water drainage. DeSantis has made it a bit more difficult on the RCID (or whatever it’s called now) to just do what they want over there at Disney. They would need more than $17bil to create something like that. That being said, I still think that’s the best idea as they can incorporate all kinds of IPs and rides and have way more room than ruining the Magic at Magic Kingdom.

What gets here has less to do with The Bob Iger Company not willingly backing off of their horrendously destructive project and more to do with how they’re still saying construction will begin on it next year when the permit issues have yet to be sorted out. Not only does it show the sheer hubris they possess in regard to their standing with the state, but it also shows that they’ll continue to lie about being “shovel ready” when they don’t have full control over that anymore. Even if they do somehow get their way with this in the end, these kind of announcements only contribute to their worsening reputation as a respectable organization.
