1. I get it, it’s normal for a paid game to have expansion/ DLC, it’s normal for a paid game to have micro transactions and it’s normal for a paid game to have battle pass/ star path .. but to have all of them in one game, and given that this is heavy on decorating - cosmetics are important hence having all mechanics in one game like this may not be as tolerant to many. Plus I agree with you - moonstones feel a lot easier to farm these days but today I was told off by some that farming moonstones aren’t easy that they still spend money on it. 2. Isn’t this a normal reaction from players? Furthermore they decided to announce after > a year of letting people think it’s a F2P. I say just let them, if people are happy about it, let them, if people are sad about it, let them! I think it’s good to have reactions now so they know what to gauge and deliver on Nov 1st. I know most of you in this channel would be elated cuz you guys don’t mind spending money on these, but not everyone is fortunate enough and I believe their feelings are valid. Let Gameloft see all the comments - after all I think these noises actually helped shape the solution of Dreamsnaps. Maybe they could meet them halfway? If it’s getting too much, stay away from those comments.

If Dreamsnaps weren’t a thing I would feel differently about having micro transactions and DLC. But it balances it out for me. Also I have to defend ACNH. It’s a great game. But I do wish it had continued to get more updates/DLC even if it was paid. 😊

Same I would have snapped up lots of DLC content for ACNH. I was desperately wanting them to open a fortune cookie stall where we would spend real money to buy them for exclusive items. And would have lapped up any other DLCs like HHP. It’s all optional after all. Not owning the DLC had no impact on the main game. That’s the only concern I have for DDLV. I hope that biomes/characters behind paywalls will not affect players who can not afford to buy them. Like star paths shouldn’t have tasks involving paid biomes/characters.

I completely agree! Dreamsnaps completely changed the way I see moonstones now. Even if I didn't do good on one week, I know I have the opportunity to earn more later. And like you said I wish ACNH had more updates, I probably would pay $20-30 for some new DLC.

I think dreamsnaps has nullified the negative impact of the premium shop. I have played Sims for many years so I expect paid dlc. The devs did tell us that there would be paid dlc from the beginning.

Also...they have said since DAY ONE that additional paid content was coming, even when the plan was to be FTP.

I absolutely love this game and this channel. I don’t do discord or twitter because I don’t have the time. I watch utube only and have my favorites that I watch . I paid 79.99 for this game and it is worth every penny. I have been playing for a long time and I laugh and have such fun! I love all the character that I get to visit with, I buy things that I think are cool, and I’ve spent money on the things I want by choice. Do I buy everything no… I am not a true gamer really I’m 60 years old and this is supposed to be fun and I continue to play as long as it is fun. I don’t understand dream snaps but am trying to learn. I watch you on this channel to show me how to do things, and how just finish quests etc. You are also fun to watch so I keep watching.. I don’t need any more negativity in my life so I don’t read negative information lol it’s that simple. Don’t like the game then don’t play… You don’t wanna pay for transaction then don’t buy them. Everything is a choice, don’t ruin everybody else’s fun. I’m excited for all the new things that are coming to dream light valley! I expect to pay for entertainment, and so should everybody. Developing a new game, character and gameplay cost money and I don’t mind doing that. I have had so many hours allotted to this game, and I will continue to play because I get to stay home in my chair play with old friends and characters from my childhood.

I'm not at all upset with the changes Gameloft is making for this game. I'm sure it wasn't an easy discussion and I think there are so many positives from what they are doing. I don't mind having paid expansions if it means the content will stay consistent (and hopefully improve over time). Looking forward to what Disney Dreamlight Valley brings us in the next and future updates!

Sure, it's disappointing to see they're capable of going back on something promised, but isn't that the point of early access? To see what works and doesn't? I have only purchased the ultimate bundle at this point, no other $$ for moonstones... and I have been able to get the premium star paths, wall-e and ursula bundles, castle skin for my house etc... and I still have plenty of moon stones saved up. Y’all paid for a game a year ago and wanting everything that’s added on for free?? Doesn’t work like that. I completely agree with your view point. I think before judgement is passed, we should gauge what happens on Wednesday, but I am definitely happy it isn't going free to play because that means there's still guaranteed revenue to pay the people who make the game so we can still get updates

If the DLC is for a year's content, I think it will be ok. If we have to pay a big price for these relatively small 2 month releases... I may have to reconsider continuing playing the game. Going to hope for the former. As far as the micro-transactions, they're pretty much free if you put in the time to do a decent dreamsnap every week.

I feel the same. I would be ok to pay every year a ''pass'' with a full story arc. But if we pay to have 5 days of playing time I'm gonna be pissed I have to be honest and yes I think I will stop playing sadly. That my biggest concern about that news (because I'm ok not being f2p I don't care personally but I don't want to have to pay every 2 months for basically nothing) The second concern is, as a switch player, we ''accepted'' (not really but ...) Bugs and item limit lower because it was early access. If now the game is fully released and p2p this need to be addressed immediately

I think it will come with x amount of hrs of gameplay but I also think it’s more about the separate biomes that will hopefully have a separate item limit to the 3k on Switch. Hoping players will be able to move existing characters houses there to free up space in their main valley. Let’s see what’s in store I guess. 🤞🏻I don’t play on switch myself but I feel for those who do.

Two thoughts: Social media has been a garbage fire since before it was called socila media. People have taken the disconnect from being alone with a keyboard to forget they're talking to and about other real humans since the old newsgroups I used to go on in the 1990s. 2. All I want DDV developers to do is fix the glitches that prevent us from finishing quests. I'm stuck in the Ursula premium quest because I'm still missing one ice shard.

@@lilliam2532 unfortunately, it's a know bug. I cleared the entire biome of every piece of furniture and landscape elements to look for it. It's an annoyance but they are working on it, so I'm not overly stressed

There is so much to be said about all of this but I can understand why creators like MrStarinSky and players (myself included) are taking all of this to heart as I'm sure most of us are. I think free content maybe should be been teased just as equally as the expansion pass, as I feel those who "wont be purchasing" are feeling a little unheard or unappreciated. But, I feel like more information in the showcase will ease some people's hurt feelings. But for those who are willing to pay, for possibly a year's worth of content AND community, are just not affected as much by this news. We wanted something exciting and thrilling and we got what we wanted. But right now, those who are not willing to pay, are feeling left behind. Again, I think everything will ease once the showcase is released. As most people said on these comments too... we actually don't know the full extent until the showcase. And unfortunately, some players may not hear about the "showcase" and all it's information until the end of the week due to having busy lives and work and other distractions... For us that love and adore this game, or gaming in general, it is worth every penny. But this is only because gaming means so much to us, but for some people, "gaming" is not worth the money. For me, gaming has got me through some much within my life, that I am willing to pay and spend time on it. Not everyone feels this way, so I can understand why some people are "happily" deleting this game or not continuing to play. I think people forget how much goes into game creation, and listening to the audience (not many gaming communities are heard!) and having such a wide audience too (for all ages, really...). A long one, but I think a lot of people will feel the same.

I had a very small amount of moonstones & was late to the game in starting the most current Star Path, but was still able to earn enough moonstones to unlock the premium Star Path & complete it with days to spare. It is definitely possible to achieve some goals without spending additional money

Also, in terms of them talking about the negative feedback. That will also likely depend on if this showcase is actually filmed live or if it was filmed already before things were announced, so there won't be anything in there about the feedback, because it was filmed prior to it. tbh a years worth of content with a price point of $30 is sooooooo so so so worth it in my eyes!! i understand that not everyone may agree and there are some concerns and harsh feelings about this but the game has to make money somehow you know? the gold items (cottage, clothes, cabybara) being given to the early players is incredible generous in my opinion. i'm honestly not seeing what some people are getting so upset about but maybe i'm not super educated on what all of this means for the future of ddv..

It’s wild to me that people see this as a decoration based game. You don’t have to decorate at all if you don’t want to. It’s completely optional, just like it’s optional to spend moonstones on items. You still get so much from the game without it, there’s a storyline and quests and you get free currency from chests, dream snaps and also starpaths are basically free. There’s way too much complaining so I’m happy that this community keeps it positive at least, for the most part!

Well the storyline and quests are not enough tho.. If you don't decorate you have what maybe a week of playability if you take time to do the quests. So yes decorating is a big part of it.

A yt channel is putting out misinformation who said they refuse to play this game showed the new price list for December and stated that everyone will have to pay one of these tiers in order to continue playing this game and if you don't pay again you cant play and when i pointed out that that tier is for new players and not current players and gave links etc explaining my comment was deleted and i was blocked.

Personally, I believe that if the game actually went free to play, it would get to a point where we'd be paying moonstones for realms/ individual characters ON TOP OF the battle pass and premium shop. But by keeping this a paid game, I doubt that'll happen and they'll just stick to full on expansions and optional cosmetics. So, in that regard I'm actually kind of relieved. I feel for the people that have waited for free to play because now it's all moot and they've missed out on a year's worth of cosmetics via star paths and events, but honestly it's probably better for game health this way. I do get why some people might be a little soured by this. I feel like the devs knew they weren't going to commit to free to play- at least for awhile now- and I believe this should have been announced more directly and explained fully as opposed to being stuffed into a packed announcement like it was. This just feels a little too careless regarding a promise they've broken that, for a lot of people, was one of the big selling points of this game. All in all, this is the best chance for the game to succeed with minimal micro transactions, but I feel like the announcement could have been better and understand why so many people are salty.

Paid expansion packs Your biggest defense is “It’s too soon to judge.” Is it really though? If consumers don’t speak out, Gameloft will continue to bend its players over. Animal Crossing had paid DLC, yes, it was $25 but there were no micro-transactions. It had premium currency but you had to grind for it in-game. There was never an option to pay for the premium currency, from Nintendo. There were, however, players who were more than happy to pay OTHER players, real money, to get this premium currency as it could be given from player to player. But Nintendo NEVER made this currency locked behind a paywall. I think the biggest issue people have had with this whole thing was the initial promise that the game would be F2P, and then the lack of transparency from GameLoft as to when this decision was made, to now make it pay to play. So, their "promise" that there will continue to be "free" updates, feels less genuine, seeing as they've backpedaled on something they've already "promised." Because who's to say, somewhere down the line, they decide now everything will be pay to play, like EA with Sims 4. That's how I feel anyway. I also feel that those of us who paid $70 - $80 for the ultimate founder's pack, should at least get a discount for the DLC, if not for free.

I’ve been really lucky that any games I’ve played long term have been strictly base game and dlc, so I can buy exactly what I want and know I’ll love it. Never any micro transactions, but I’m aware there are a lot of games out there with all 3 paid elements - I just don’t agree with it. So I agree, now we’re all paying for the game and the expansion, the premium shop prices should drop a bit. No one should be losing out on a item they’d really like, especially now it’s not F2P. If im understnding right from their first post about what was coming up that the expansion you can pay cash or its 5000 moonstones. Also ot showee with the expansion you get 5000 moonstones. On top of that they are giving alll players who own the founders pack before dec 5 which includes everyone who os playing now a house sjkin, companion skin and some objects as well as 2500 moonstones. I think people are getting ahead of themselves getting so upset without truly knowing whats going on. Nov 1 we will lnow more and then people may complain if they want but lets see what they say.

I got the game for my birthday and have been playing it for almost a year now and I haven't had to spend my own money yet and I don't think the DLC is expensive at all, look at Pokemon or Animal Crossing, they also have a DLC that you have to pay for, the only thing What I'm waiting to see is how it will work on the switch. @MrStarInSky i have no issue with the game or dlc, my main take away is they lock these exclusive items behind multiple versions. im glad they are giving us the gold edition free, its just that like for example the cozy edition items (sweater, inside out racoon companions) nobody can get unless we buy the whole game again. thats my main takeaway from this. as for the moonstones thing its fine since even tho the pass we dont earn all of it back we can earn them thru dreamsnaps and chests while every other game ull get all ur currency back plus 300-500 extra like fortnite it 950 vbucks but in a pass ull earn around 1300 for example same for apex so dreamlight in their way is actually giving out more. the last thing to clarify from what i know so far, the free dlc is most likely jack skellington while the expansion looks like the new biomes/char/act 2 start which if i remember they did say were gonna be paid dlc stuff which i can see since technically it is like other games where dlc continues the story. other then that, im down for the future of the game im just heartbroken that im gonna have to rebuy the game for exclusive items if they wont give it to the day 1 loyal players. i hope that was ok to say and people can understand where im coming from since by the time i get cozy ed plus the expansion on top of my ultimate founders edition, im shelling out around $150 for this game and then for them to say its staying paid and not free to play leaving alot of players who were hoping to play this now cant i feel bad for them

MrStarInSky thanks for being the light when the DDLV community goes dark! 🥹🥰 DDLV is a de stressor for me and all the current negativity surrounding it is depressing. I wish others would learn to be more grateful instead of critical and picking apart everything about anything DDLV. While I understand others have a right to feel the way they feel and their feelings are important, I just wish we lived in a world where others weren’t so quick to judge others and in this case a game by it’s cover. I’m looking forward to the live stream on November 1st and hoping others can find peace with the decisions DDLV has made! 👍🏻⭐️

I feel like people don’t understand that free to play is not free to play. They’ll be doing the same but 10x more expensive. They’d most likely nerf dream-snaps bring in some sort of gambling & lock almost everything behind paywalls if it goes free to play.

People need to realize to make a good product you need to make money. Look at animal crossing. They have no way of making money anymore so they just quit supporting it. Paradise Island was their last on years ago

I don't understand all the hate for this decision. Star Path is basically free with dreamsnaps/chests and premium shop is OPTIONAL. I know people want cute things but if I go to the grocery store and I would like to buy prime rib but my wallet says I can only. afford hamburger I don't blame the grocery store and call them greedy. And that is food for survival not a game played for fun. I do feel sorry for the people who have missed things because they were waiting for free to play though

I think we don't know what we don't know, right? I think the trailer for the Haunted Star Path implied that Skellington Hill was a premium item but it was part of the FREE Star Path, so I am not sure I 100% trust that their advertisement means Eve & Rapunzel are only in the expansion pass. Also what's the difference between expansion PACK like Sims calls it and Expansion PASS like DDLV calls it.

Im personaly fine with the route they have taken, i mean i agree they didnt go about it the best way they could have and i really hope DDV address the whole situation on there live stream because people on twitter have there pitch forks out, theres so much incorrect information being spread on there by angry people who have misunderstood what the whole free to play actually ment and are telling people thay have to repurchase the game or have to pay to progress with the story and it makes me so sad that people believe the crazy things that some are saying 😔. As a successor to Disney Infinity, DDV is totally fair with pricing. Choosing not to go F2P hurts NO ONE. If you paid for the game already, you have the game and more content. If you were waiting, you are literally out $0! For Disney Infinity on console, I bought literally EVERH new character and game levels/worlds. I probably spent over $300 for that game over the years they were releasing characters. And to me it was worth it. But no one is forcing you to buy any of it. The base game has so much content it’s worth the price. And we are still getting more characters for NO ADDITIONAL charge.

I am struggling to understand the reason for the amount of outrage due to these changes. As a regular Sims player, this is nothing compared to what other games do in the Simulation genre. The Sims costs over $1000 to have all content they offer, with more and more dlc added every quarter. This is nothing , especially for a potential years worth of content. If Gameloft ever hits the level of greed that Ea does, then there would be reason to be concerned.

I've been playing DDV through Xbox game pass on PC since release. Will I have to purchase the game to get the free content from the Gold edition? And if I purchase it on the Switch will I be starting over or will it be all of my progress that I've made? Thank you to anyone who can help me figure this out! 🥰

From what I've seen on their Discord, they said the core game will be free with free upgrades. But any paid DLCs are extra extra (and doesn't pull from the storyline) and accessed through the raft by Skull Cave. But the free stuff will be the castle's doors that slowly unlock. Nothing crazy... I don't know what people are freaking out about.

I am mostly content with the recent news. I hate F2P games because the whole point of free is no money needed to enjoy but usually a lot things are dangled at you to make you want to pay. So I’m fine with them being a paid game. They could also take a note from some F2P games that I like for future expansions so it doesn’t feel like I have to spend x amount of money on the same game for more content. I don’t mind buying an expansion (did it for years with world of Warcraft). However, as someone that got it free with game pass but then bought the ultimate edition for switch, ps5, and Xbox when ever they had a sale so I could get more moonstones and extra stuff. I personally feel that I’ve given them a good deal of money in early access and something that would be a nice gesture for all founders is that you get all the digital goodies from the cozy edition as well the expansion pass and all the stuff they are letting us have in the gold edition for free. Sure there will be future paid things but their fan base has been paying to play since basically we got early access. Also I want more decorating capacity on my Xbox one since ps5 isn’t actually a cross save and only new consoles get the capacity increase.

people that say this game has freemium content for premium price.... its not true anymore because you can earn moonstones. in freemium games there is literally no access to that premium free to play currency. its hard locked behind real life money.

Dreamsnaps are the biggest win that they have brought to this game. I was able to buy the starpath, all current premium shop items, and even the ursel bundle without spending a single dime on them. I have enough saved up for the Dec 5 update.

I don't have issues with a paid DLC (unless it's expensive and only a week's worth of content) nor do I have issue with cancelled f2p (though imo they waited way too late to announce that) what grinds my gears is that there is still so many bugs and things that need to be adjusted but they are giving us the launch of the game? Unless they somehow magically fix EVERYTHING by dec 5, they are not launch ready. Fix your damn game first.

I am very excited about the expansion pass and everything coming up. Initially I was gonna wait for free play but I found your videos and finally bought it in early September. No regrets and so happy it’s not going f2p and relieved. My one gripe, I want to angle my furniture and stuff lol

The absolute negativity that the devs get is heartbreaking. They do what the community wanted and now theyre getting backlash. I wish we could all flood the devs with positive and uplifiting comments. I am excited for the future of DDV. Also they are acting like bigger MMOs like FF Online or WoW dont have have micro-transactions, expansion packs, seasonal passes, and subscriptions in the SAME GAME. Just remember these people are the same people who are so miserable they reported a positive poster on the DDV Reddit for su!c!dal thoughts to get them suspended so theyd stop posting.

Based on what we do know the $30 expansion pass seems to have way more valuable content than the $40 dlc some people bought when they got the ultimate founders pack and it’s being released over a year after the game launched. I get people being upset over f2p being cancelled but not the expansion pass.
