@@frankiemoi I have no Doubt that Disney knew Universal was planning a 3rd gate 10 years or so ago. Did they have any idea the scale they were planning? Probably not, They just knew Universal was working on something with the land they got from Lockheed Martin in 1998, but probably thought they would be expanding slower not essentially doubling the Universal Orlando resort space in one go.

Yeah but the uber rich are also bringing us Epic Universe. It’s not all bad. Not a huge defender, just saying. I love these massive rides and experiences these companies bring. I just spent three days inside the parks and a week at one of the animal kingdom Disney vacation properties. Our day in the Magic Kingdom opened with space mountain closed for the previous day and expected to be closed all day. The mine ride was closed. Throughout the day thunder mountain was railroad was closed for the morning. The jungle Cruise was closed at least twice during the day. The carousel was closed at least twice. Pooh was closed at least once. And there were several other closures but I can't remember which ones. We had similar issues with ride closures at the other parks, but not as bad as this. Who says there's a maintenance issue in the Orlando parks? Iger, and crew, are doing a wonderful job and should continue...

I'm sorry that happened to you. That's the exact reason I stopped going to the parks 2 years ago. Disneyland is the same way. It's especially frustrating if you were already waiting in line for one of them for 45 minutes.

Doesn’t this happen at every theme park though? I’ve been to six flags and universal besides Disney and most of the rides break down. I’ve been stuck on rides and seen multiple rides down for a whole day every where, it happens.

@@jornelas12 The simple answer is, no. Not at this percentage. I''ve been going to the Magic Kingdom since 71 or 72 with quite a few visits one year with the annual pass. And many visits over the years. For a couple of rides to be down throughout the day is normal, but this percentage has to do with saving money on maintenance and spare parts. For the simple Carousel ride to go down at least twice in and of itself tells me there might be an issue. But it is really significant in combination with all the other issues.(My background is 30 years as a mechanical engineer in a factory environment.) I've been to Six Flags and Universal, but not enough times to make a comparison. And I don't recall how bad they were in this respect.

Last trip to Universal we experienced closures of Velocicoaster & Hagrid’s for much of both days. Gringott’s crashed on us mid ride, with the screens no longer working and the ride stopping and then finishing without any screens on at all. This stuff happens.

Soooo.... it's taken a decade to bring epic universe to a reality & the swelling crowds in Orlando have proven they can more than support the expansion. It feels like cleanliness & maintenance of WDW are the current most pressing challenges. I WISH they would cap capacity in the parks! Add a parade and 2 more alive shows to HS & 2 more live indoor shows to MK.

Pandora and Galaxy’s Edge are a preemptive response to Epic Universe. How about a late reaction to Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley that cost us the Osbourne Lights for a world that had not existed in the Star Wars universe!

For comparison's sake, let's look at what Universal has done in the past 10 years: 2014: Diagon Alley Harry Potter expansion at USF 2014: Cabana Bay Beach Resort 2016: Wizarding World of Harry Potter at USH 2016: Sapphire Falls Resort 2017: Volcano Bay water park 2018: Adventura Resort 2019: Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure at IOA 2019: Jurassic World Ride Retheme at USH (which IOA badly needs, yikes) 2021: VelociCoaster at IOA 2021: Universal Studios Bejing Resort (theme park, hotels and infrastructure) 2021: Secret Life of Pets Ride at USH 2023: Super Nintendo World at USH 2023: Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast at USF 2024: Dreamworks Land at USF (opening this summer) 2024: Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift at USH (opening this summer) And all this while planning and constructing Epic Universe, new hotels and new infrastructure for the Orlando Resort!

@@nopenope2601 Don't confuse quantity with quality. While Disney may have more than Universal, the guest experience is abysmal. It's at an all time low because Disney's current management has and continues to mismanage funds. Universal offers a much higher quality experience to Disney, especially if you do a cost-benefit analysis.

More and more, I believe by the end of the year that Iger will change his mind once again and will extend his stay at Disney for another few years. Just hearing him in the CNBC clip confirms my worry that the board doesn’t have succession plan and their only path is Iger continuing to do the job.

Brayden, channels “That Park Place” and “WDW Pro” sing your praises and quote you all the time. I’ve learned a lot what is REALLY going on from those channels as well as yours. “Thank you” for telling the truth and not sugar coating everything like other channels. I have to say I am very concerned for the “Iger” company. I recently watched the opening day of Disneyland’s dedication ceremony and WOW has this company changed from Walt’s vision. I had forgotten how it once was. So sad. 😢 Also, it was revealed that if you were voting for Peltz or/ and Rasulo on the website, you had DEselect one/ two other current board members as well. If you did not, your vote became null and void and AUTOMATICALLY voted for the board to stay as is. This was not clear in the voting. Shady? No, not at all! 🤔😠 This was exactly how Peltz expected the vote to go. He’s actually smiling. This gives him more leverage for next year and more board seats. Plus, now Iger has no one to blame but himself for the company’s failure. It’s going to be an interesting ride. Everyone, grab your popcorn. It’s going to be one “exciting” year. Oh, one more thing…did anyone catch in the interview Bob “forgetting” when the shareholder meeting even was? It was just the day before this interview and he forgot? The question is “was he even present for the meeting?” We never even saw his face except for the prerecorded speech at the parks. Okay, one more. I was able to attend a LIVE shareholder meeting when it was in my state and the Q&A session lasted for thirty minutes. This was just ten and it was even from real questions. Sad and disappointing. 😢

Nelson p had admitted he voted for HC in 2016, then voted for trump in 2020, then after january 6th 2021 he regretted his decision to support trump, but now (since donald has been determined to be a rapist) nelson came out for the donald duck. Nelson even plans to donate $20mn toward the rapist's re election campaign. Myop nelson should not have said he was pro rapist until after the Board voting had been done. But rapists and their friends seem to imagine they can touch the pussX. some Board members feared donald showing up to DWorld and touching Mickey's Mouse or touching Minnie's Pouch. that would be NOT Good for a family themed park.

Disney's issue is that they do not reinvest the money the parks make into the parks. They use it to offset losses on garbage movies like Strange World and horrible decisions like buying Fox and Hulu.

The amount of arrogance of Iger and the board is so thick, you can cut it with knife. The condescending tone, arrogance and spite for their own customers and the lineage of the company is beyond words. We don't need the corporate speak, it's disgusting and insulting. You don't need to worry about the loyal families from generations past. You can fill your accounts with a generation of suckers who will buy your used car sales tactics for years to come. But now we feel like we got taken. Current and former DVC owners, annual pass holders, cruisers and frequent visitors of the parks. We bet on your loyalty. That you would always come through and deliver the magic. But now we're the ones holding the bag, Bob.

Mickeys Runaway was not an investment. The Great Movie ride was not only memorable and nostalgic but it was perfectly themed for "Hollywood Studios". I would have much preferred to have seen a revamp of GMR with tributes to all the great movies they missed, like Apocolypse Now, Godfather, Ben Hur, Citizen Kane, and add tributes to movies like Shawshank Redemption, The Matrix, There Will Be Blood, Mad Max... How good would that have been? And why have they not updated The Muppets 3D. I saw a sketch of the Muppets reeancting great movie scenes... that would be a fantastic addition. Instead, they built the world's most expensive Office Park in EPCOT.

Not a good enough answer Daddy Iger. I'd rather him have said we know the guests want more and we are full ready to ramp up and push these new projects forward faster than ever and make it our top priority. We really need some money where your mouth is moments and projects here, period. It's to the point where people don't get excited for new announcements from Disney and make jokes about it. That's not a good look or place for Disney to be. Meanwhile Universal fans have been ecstatic and following along and looking forward to Epic Universe.

Pandora and Galaxy’s Edge were Disney’s weak catch-up attempts at a response to Universal’s Wizarding World, which weren’t able to reach the success of Harry Potter’s lands commercially or culturally. Disney are caught on the back foot AGAIN for Universal’s next huge hit in immersive storytelling

My question is... Who wants this? Who loves Avatar so much they are calling for Disney to build another Avatar land? Disneyland is more of a 'locals' park than WDW, so is there a big demand/fan base for Avatar movies in California? Or are they doing this because using IP has become such a crutch and they can't come up with any new non-IP ideas? Maybe announcing they were moving Imagineering to Lake Nona, FL and then cancelling it a year before it happened caused lots of the more experienced Imagineers to leave Disney and find work with other companies who might value them a bit more and not threaten them with relocation as some kind of loyalty test?

This needs to be a year of green lit projects to a scale we haven't seen in a decade! I admit I cast all of my votes(which are only what a normal person would hold) against the Disney ticket. The reason was 100% to do with the wokeness, which needs to end. I mean, look at The Eternals, was not that the most pathetic attempt at wokeness, and contrary to the story telling we all love? It was awful. I didn't expect my vote to make a difference, but I hope there were enough of us to send a message.

Come on…cut the snark. He didn’t say we gave you Moana. He made the legitimate point how Disney has built several projects at WDW over the last decade…the $450 million Cosmic Rewind, and more as you know. (And yes, one thing was Moana). Disney doesn’t need to build another gate to respond. When Epic Universe is built it will be their third park. Disney still has four. We aren’t discussing the elephant in the room. When Epic Universe opens the biggest nagative impact will be on Sea World .
