You can see what she brought to Disney from her past life at Marriot Hotels. Look at what she did to Boardwalk refit, and Splash Mountain. The Disney themeing has been removed completely under her watch. That’s why the Disney resorts now look like standard hotel rooms with no themeing. She doesn’t know anything different.

She was challenging the norm of how expensive things should be, bringing a global industry perspective means taking advantage of cost cutting measures used elsewhere. Look at some of the recent refurbishments which Disney contracted out to the same companies that Marriott uses to create the most neutral and least offensive decor possible instead of creating decor that tells a story and evokes emotions. Lets hope Bruce Vaughn is given a budget to allow Imagineers to do what they do best and return to the top creative group in the world again. Maybe he can convince Bob Weis and Joe Rhode to come out of "retirement" and return to Disney Imagineering.

2. Universal includes "Express Pass Unlimited" when staying at their Premiere hotels (closer to a Disney "moderate" priced hotel). Express Pass Unlimited costs roughly $100 per person and you can get in MUCH shorter lines (almost every attraction) without having to plan them on your phone. Now if Universal included a shuttle to and from the airport, that could really put some pressure on Disney to drop the paywall to magic.

Brayden - you discussing the old Imagineering legacy certainly reminded me of "The HP Way" which was born of the operations of Hewlett-Packard under their founders and several subsequent CEOs. I happen to be the son of a career HP employee, and one thing I certainly witnessed was the incredible commitment HP employees had for their employer and therefore many would stay with the company, and continue to share their talents, for decades in not their entire careers. Not surprisingly, when the company broke from the HP Way in the early 2000s, things started to fall apart in an almost dazzling fashion. How can you drive success with a rotating door for your workers? Invest in your employees, commit to their employment long-term rather than fire at the hint of a downturn, and you'll get valuable assets that won't seek the quick buck elsewhere but instead be the true in-house boosters you want.

WDW in particular needs positive headlines, QUICKLY. Officially announce the conversion of Dinosaur to the Indiana Jones attraction, give it a budget and a timeline of one year. The infrastructure is already there, the ride system just needs to be reprogramed, and the sets redecorated. Officially announce the renovation of the EPCOT Journey into Imagination pavilion. Don't gut the ride system this time (as much as I hate to say this.. just leave it alone). Instead, rip out the sets, add more Figment, fire Nigel Channing and the Imagination Institute theme, and re-introduce Dreamfinder. Can't do the rotating stages with the Dream Catcher anymore, but they CAN projection map the heck out of the attraction and and more Figment animatronics. And, if you want MAJOR WDW fan positive online chat... bring back Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, place it in the UK Pavilion at EPCOT... that can be done in less than a year, for less than $100 million.

Merit Based Hiring Please Disney. Enough experimenting with "The Message, and its Messengers", merit based hiring please and we should be just fine.

Another thought - Disney has 12 Theme Parks around the globe - $60 Billion over 10 years - average $5 Billion per park over 10 years? It doesn’t seem anywhere near enough to catch up with all the delayed projects, let alone all the delayed preventative maintenance that keeps rides breaking down and off-line. Too little, too late.

It isn't. It just sounds pretty when Boob Iger says it and the Disney fluffers get all googly eyed over it.

That break down is essentially operating costs and maintenance. It's such a deceiving figure as there is likely no funding left for big projects

You're forgetting that "parks & entertainment" includes the cruise lines, and the dvc resorts in Carolina & Hawaii, and the hotels at the resorts & parks too. The $60 bil is not just for the theme parks. It's less than you think.

We spent our 20th in WDW in 2014: It was Bliss! We spent our 25th in WDW in 2019: It was quite nice. We spent our 30th in WDW last week, 2024: It was not great. Disney Tokyo Sea is looking Extremely appealing for our 35th.. But, here's hoping we can actually get some positive changes for the Orlando parks! Maybe this year will bring the turning of the tides. 🙏✨🤞

Imagineers used to make waves. Now the administrators have metastasized into the creative spaces and poisoned the well. Disney needs to be purged of the smothering mothers. You made a great video. Powerful critiques and analysis

Unfortunately I think the first move for Imagineering is to rip up everything they've done to Epcot for the past 5 years and return to something approaching the real Epcot, the world of imagination and exploration.

So when she thinks of the creative process, her mind goes to race, politics, and societal crisis? Yeah she seems like a great Imagineer. I can't blame her though, necessarily, as I'm sure the "allies" Bob and Josh thought they were doing good by hiring her and demanding a shakeup.. turned out America didn't want a shake up but just wanted good attractions without divisive rhetoric attached. So they're letting her go after their little experiment failed. But her legacy is going to make the next decade of Imagineering work twice as hard to win back the trust of Disney guests.

I’ve never understood why they would think it’s a competitive strategy to be more like everyone else 🤔🤔 We love Disney specifically because of the immersive themeing. Not making a Hilton-looking hotel slightly themed.

So WDW might stop making everything look like a generic Marriott expansion? Sure would be nice if creativity made its way back into WDW.

Another very interesting development! This gives me hope that Disney will return the fun creative imaginative place it once was. Walt was a good storyteller because he put a lot of work into the details. Thanks for the update!

One thing I wish Disney would do-DUMP ESPN. How is this doing the name any good? Its not like having ABC and using it to help push their brand name.

I heard Disney hired someone for the position who wasn't a Disney fan. 😅 Like why would you do that? That makes absolutely no sense at all! 😕 Make the president of your imaginary department someone who appreciates your company and your brand and who is a fan! ❤️👍🏻

Still don't get why a theme park would want to look like an office campus. It baffles me because if you apply for a job at a sized-up playground, wouldn't you have an idea what you signed up for?
