For me, his role as The Chosen One is a continuous thing. He brings balance to the force at the end of his life, reconciling the light and the dark within him & now his eternal role is as guardian of that balance or harmony.

Letting Anakin retain mastery of both sides of the Force is a stroke of brilliance. What they did even better was showcasing it by making Anakin have to internally meditate to calm down from his Sith forward self, where you see him take deep breathes to collect himself before letting his eyes return blue. It's not a sudden shift, he has to pull back to let his true self shine through. It's not something that can easily be done, but the Chosen One with his training can overcome and retain his consciousness within the Force. It's magnificent and I love it.

@jhinabloomingflower807 I get what you're saying, I just don't think that was the intent in 1-6. And the balance being referred to was because the Jedi were literally losing their strength in the force and the dark side was more powerful. They couldn't sense Sidious and Yodas' visions were clouded. Mace Windu said they should inform the Senate that there power to use the force was diminished. This "balance" between light and dark is a new age Disney concept which isn't how it was written. Lucas had good guys are Jedi, bad guys are Sith. Of course our weird culture wants to change that. Either way I get how some of you guys like it, it's interesting and intriguing, I just still believe we need Anakin to by just a Jedi now, or that kinda craps on the original trilogy and the prequels. Just as the sequeals have done.

Anakin being an active force ghost means 1. The prophecy could still be proven to be true and 2. The sadness around Anakin's story may have a stronger purpose, resulting in him having true balance. It adds such a great aspect to his story. If he does become the balance keeper, it would not be completely out of left field. Obi wan said in the first movie that "if you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine" something like that. As we learn more, maybe some force ghosts are more than just passive entities in the universe. Maybe some are like Gods.
@brandenmarcum430
@brandenmarcum430 8 ай бұрын
That’s exactly what they are. The Disney sequels are bad, but they do actually explain things. We can see both Yoda and Luke in their ghost forms able to interact with the physical realm. Yoda used lightning to burn down the archives. Luke lifted the X-Wing and caught Anakin’s lightsaber with his hand. They’re low-tier gods, but Anakin should be even more powerful. His father is the Force itself, so he should be able to manifest a physical form at will, or possess someone or a cloned body. Palpatine was able to transfer his consciousness to a cloned body before he died, which is how he “somehow returned”. Qui-Gon Jinn, not yet being able to create the “ghost form”, was able to lift Yoda and other objects in his room, as well as talk to him, and that was with minimal training. The thing is, the Force Ghosts have to be light side, they can’t use the dark side because the Force hates the dark side. The dark side is corruption. The Force Ghosts HAVE to obey the will of the Force. The Jedi teach this. Anakin used the dark side, which tells us HE controls the Force. There’s no way the Force would have allowed a ghost to use the dark side. Anakin is different. He was born to maintain balance, to control the Force. He should be a high-tier god.

She made it there herself and Anakin showed up to help her. This doesn't necessarily has to contradict the sequel. It can, and I'd love if it retconned it, but I don't think Disney's self aware enough to allow him to do that, considering they're making a sequel to the sequels And that's debating if Dave wants to do so or not. I think, at the very least, he doesn't care too much about it and will do what he wants in service to a better story, whether it contradicts the sequels or not. He's shown the same level of care to other canon material. It's dumb of Disney to not let anyone work to one vision, but at this point it's too late and I think I'd rather follow Dave's side of Star Wars over the rest of the mess. I definitely wouldn't care if he retconned Kenobi for example. As fun as that show was, it was dumb as heck.

For me this is one of the greatest set of scenes of the whole franchise. Anakin’s reaction after being told ‘I choose to live’ is incredibly powerful. You can see the pain and regret of someone aware of making a terrible choice as a consequence of mental grooming from an evil psychopath. This initial reaction changes into one more ‘selfless’ when recognising his apprentice made the choice he himself wishes he had made. Ahsoka’s ‘I choose to live’ comment corresponds with her eye colour changing from Sith red back to blue- the way of evil is the antithesis of what it means to live. As Vader in various scenes throughout (but most notably in ‘Obi Wan Kenobi’) Anakin describes himself as ‘gone’ (I.e. dead). In many ways I see at as a compact depiction of his entire story, an ambitious, fundamentally kind hearted but troubled individual who falls into darkness but through guidance of others is shown the way back to the light. The tale of Anakin is, in my opinion, one of the saddest I’ve come across in story telling, for a whole load of reasons. But ultimately, an utterly brilliant narrative!

The story of the Galaxy. The Original Trilogy shows us a dark time, and it shows our heroes freeing the galaxy of that darkness. The Prequel Trilogy shows us a peaceful time and how it slowly falls to darkness. It does so brilliantly, too. So much nuance a lot of people refuse to see.

Yes! The dark side is corruption of the Force, but it can be used as long as you don’t let it corrupt you. Luke, Mace Windu, Yoda, Anakin, and Obi-Wan are great examples of Jedi who used the dark side lots of times. Obi-Wan used it to defeat Mail, Windu used it to enhance his dueling(it’s how he beat Palpatine even tho some will argue Palpatine let him win), Luke casually used the dark side the choke enemies and crush things. In my opinion, Luke is the prime example of the perfect Jedi. He used the dark side almost as much as the light side, and still was more pure than even Yoda.

The Vader meaning father is a common misconception for a number of reasons. 1. Vader’s name comes from the word “invader.” Palpatine follows this trend, as his name, Sidious, comes from “Insidious.” 2. A New Hope was originally conceived as a single movie, it was unsure if it would make enough revenue or gain enough popularity to create multiple movies, so Vader being Luke’s father most definitely was not the original plan, as evident by really analyzing the dialogue in New Hope. That said, it is really cool to interpret this common misconception in this whole new way, and how i plan to go on interpreting this lmfao!

It just feels like hollow key jangling again, like Kenobi, because nothing really happened in the story leading up to that episode, and Ahsoka's demeanor is exactly the same from before and after. The Mortis arc showed us that Anakin could’ve been effectively the same power as the Father. The whole point was to see if Anakin could find the peace needed within himself to take over for the Father while he presumably would rest as to regain his strength. Anakin eventually found it, and within the testing circle, tamed both the Son and the Daughter just as the Father was able to do. The problem was that the Ones presumably died, Anakin fell to the Darkside, losing over half of his potential in the process. We have no idea what that meant for Anakin in the realm of the Force after death.

@@eds1942 I believe this new anakin arc will be about replacing the ones and restoring balance once again, there always needs to be 3 to balance the force, and if the ones no longer exist, they gotta be replaced. Anakin as the father, ahsoka as the daughter, and someone as the son, this is what it looks to be building up to. It'll be interesting to see who the son will be, I've seen theories saying Ezra, maul, starkiller. Starkiller would make sense if he existed in canon, cause anakin as the balance would've trained ashoka in the light and starkiller in the dark
@eds1942
@eds1942 8 ай бұрын
@@kadefrost218 That’s a possibility. And probably Ezra. If that is the case. Though they’ve never explained what the Ones are yet. Being that the Force has been in and out of whack since around 7,000 bby, I feel that the Celestials must’ve created this as a test to evaluate if whether Anakin had what it took to balance his metaphorical inner angel and devil on his shoulders, which manifested as the anthropomorphized Ones; the Father (the balance, or wisdom), the Daughter (the good or innocence) and the Son (the bad or ill will). Which he did balance for a time while in the circle, which showed that he could find inner balance if he set himself to it. Or possibly meaning that he could replace the Father. But then again the Ones all died while he was there and then the Mortis pyramidal ship gave Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka the boot. And they haven’t said much more about it. So it’s ambiguous. It should be noted though, that while she had previously been to Mortis’ World, the World between Worlds is a different place, a place where she cheated death. And here she was facing life or death. Also, I think that we should take into account the things wearing on her, mentally. As Baylan pointed out before knocked her off the cliff, was that she was Anakin’s Padawan. Anakin, who he rightfully blames for everything that had transpired since Order 66. So he sees her as being tainted by him. Meanwhile, what Ahsoka experienced here was Anakin and her time during the Clone Wars. Anakin was forged in war. And war was where he was the most confident and competent. There was a war on, and so he trained Ahsoka as a warrior. He was great at war, but “war do not make one great”. War corrupted him and blinded the Jedi. Though he was instrumental in ending the Clone Wars, through his choices, he merely replaced that war with a long series of suffering, destruction and wars. That and her part in the war has been weighing on her, holding her back. She wasn’t just being presented with a choice between life or death. This “Anakin” was also presenting her with the choice to either embrace her and Anakin’s legacy, become the warrior and risk falling to the Darkside or blinded to the real threats, either that or to accept her past and grow from it to be a guardian and consular, to help heel the Galaxy from the scares of war and advert a new war from ravaging it again, and either that OR to let the past continue to eat away at her and die. From the start of the series, she had been wearing a grey cloak (meaning that the path that she was on was unclear), and by the end of the episode she was wearing a white cloak (meaning she chose to follow the path of the light), but she very easily could’ve took up the black cloak like Anakin did (but she’s not Anakin). This “Anakin” gave her a chance to chose her path and life or don’t and die. In this way, I guess you could say that Anakin was not the Father, but her conscience and her guide being presented to her as her old teacher who resided at the heart of what burdened her.

I love this. I think that while his quest in life was to prevent those he loved from dying, I perceived this experience with Anakin as not having that hang up. He was there to help Ahsoka in this moment to choose whether to commit to life or accept her death. Thus she set the scenes, her traumas and fears. That episode of the Clone Wars where she disregarded an order which left many clones dead and wounded was a huge turning point in Ahsoka's story. I loved that they revisited this as her fear. Anakin, from my understanding, was playing whatever role he needed to be for her to face her fears and heal or fail. So he imparted the Jedi ideals when appropriate and when she said, 'if the master and apprentice line is so important, then all I have to impart to my apprentice (Sabine or Jacen) is war and I don't like that. What if I fail, what if I turn into you, what if they falls to the dark side?' and so he went dark and had her face his darkside and instead of failing, she chose to fight him. To face down the darkside if it came up and in confronting this fear she chose to live. Absolutely inspired. This wasn't just Anakin in control of the light and dark.. this was an Anakin that was who Ahsoka needed him to be without his ego or power or skill.. Just her Master. It wasn't about him and this was the wisest image of a Master Apprentice relationship I have seen in Starwars to date.. and the beautiful part is.. it may not have been Anakin.. could have been her subconscious taking the form of him. Real or subconscious, it was is both irrelevant and another mystery of the Force.

I think he could be some sort of Guardian as penance for his crimes. What Disney has done here is find a way to keep Anakin as involved as he possibly can be. Yet at the same time, they've allowed themselves an out for why he you know, might not have shown up in the ST. or try and stop Ben from turning. As someone who could be the guardian of TWBW, he's like the guardian of the timeline itself. Like how He Who Remains was a time keeper. It's super fascinating, and they can do so much with this.

@@1918BARsam Not really. We don't know anything about how force ghosts or how they work aside from what they look like and the fact that they don't have lightsabers. Anakin already broke that by having his. It makes sense then, that to me at least, he could be like a guardian. Why else would he have a saber? Unless this is all in Ahsoka's head...but even if it IS in her head...it doesn't make it any less real.
@mar_speedman
@mar_speedman 8 ай бұрын
Eh, I disagree. There's no one to punish him for his crimes. Also he's already been seen appearing as a force ghost. Also what you said doesn't really explain the gaping plot holes of the sequels, because that still leaves Obi-Wan and Yoda who never bothered to show up. You could say they wouldn't have made a difference as just guides, but then Yoda did seem capable of great power even as a ghost No, what Disney seems to be going for, at least according to Kenobi, is that force ghosts can only appear to those willing, who are not clouded by the dark side. As for Anakin, he could've just gone over to the world between worlds to help Ahsoka for that one instance. Actually, Anakin could've been by Ahsoka's side the entire time and she just couldn't see him. He seemed to know what had happened to her. We really don't have enough to say, but I don't think Anakin is being punished by being locked to the world between worlds. Any bad deeds he's commited as Darth Vader, they balance out with the good deeds as Anakin Skywalker anyway

While I do think there's a lot of issues with the show I can't deny Dave did a good job with this aspect. It's very smart to add or expand on Georges original vision in a way which doesn't change or diminish anything. I like the idea that bringing balance in his life was only half of Anakin's destiny and he also becomes the literal balance of the force itself in his death. It could even be implied that he needed to experience the dark side in order to become the balance. Something which I always wondered about with the mortis arc was if Anakin is so important why would the father give him the choice to leave. He knew it was a matter of time before his son killed him. But time clearly behaves differently there and it makes sense if he knew Anakin would ultimately end up there in death to do his duty regardless.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the videos; great content. For the most park I agree with your assessment, however, storytelling in the world between worlds is precarious. That being said, as a fan of SW I would love to see/understand this new place in the story. I am concern though... Characters could potentially never die, Disney can spoil characters, refer to the Obi Wan D+ series, and the fandom can be a tad bit sensitive. I should state my bias on Ahsoka: I am really enjoying every episode; two thumbs up. My thinking on the WbW is thank goodness it is in Dave Filoni's hands. As a fan I cannot expect that he will write the story exactly as I would have like it, still, as long I feel like I am in the story, the SW universe, all will be good. Dave has the best chance to make that happen for the story and for the fans. Let's hope he has a good apprentice under his wing to always make SW feel like SW. Cheers.

Did you notice the titles of the Mortis arc? "Balance is found in the one who faces his guilt"; "He who surrenders hope, surrenders life."; "He who seeks to control fate shall never find peace." -They all relate to Anakin's lesson in Ep.5 to Ahsoka. I mentioned on Josh's channel that I think Filoni is carry Anakin's arc further (theme of his upcoming movie?) and may be setting up how Anakin will finally bring balance to the Force. IMO, maybe he had to learn lessons in the living world of the Light and Dark in order to understand how to Balance them from the afterlife. Mortis was a kind of WBW itself and since it was destroyed at the end of the arc, the WBW is where Anakin ended up.

Your theory got me thinking about when Obi Wan told Vader, if you strike me down i shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. He went on to mentor and guide Luke to Yoda and they both became mentors. Well, what if now Anakin having died has also become more powerful than anyone could have imagined? He can mentor Ahsoka and perhaps others. Maybe his "Chosen One" role is to wander the WBW and test fallen Force users to see if they are worthy of passing on or if they have unfinished work (or are needed/choose to) and are sent back. Remember: in the WBW he's had access to Qui Gon, Yoda, Obi Wan and could have completed his own training and now, as you say.. he's the perfect embodiment of balance in the Force. He can save or destroy depending on the situation and needs /desires of the person he's speaking to? So many cool and interesting twists and turns it could take. But.. i'm SO F-IN HAPPY seeing Hayden in a bigger role and seeing him as Ani is epic and what we all deserved!

INCREDIBLE theory, this changes a LOT for me. The prophecy of "the chosen one" is something I always thought of as within the parameters of life and when he died at the end of ROTJ, that's where it was over, and becoming a Force Ghost was the end of it. But I've always felt like once he became a Force Ghost, he was now just on the same level now as Obi-Wan and Yoda, i.e. just another Force Ghost, and in the end I had a hard time connecting to him being "special" over them. The only difference as "the chosen one" I felt is the journey he had to go through, i.e. that he fell to the darkside after being a Jedi, and became this powerful Sithlord and was then able to get back and ultimately become a Force Ghost. But now I'm thinking that he had to go through experiences of the light side of the force, and then the dark side of the force, and endure pain and suffering, sacrifice and death, and when appearing as a Force Ghost at the end of ROTJ, he STARTED his journey to fulfil the prophecy of the chosen one (Obi-wan, and Yoda by his side as Force Ghosts, now knowing that the prophecy was REAL and their beliefs and faith had paid off), and everything in his life was just preparation, necessity, and a part of the prophecy. And now from a position of supreme being in this "heaven", more surpreme than the other Force Ghosts, he can now save people, and who knows what else, as The Chosen One. Now I feel there are parallels to a CHRIST figure in this (earthly good deeds as a young man, then the downfall / destroying the temple / villainized, suffering, ultimate sacrifice, redemption, and then eternal life in Heaven, a SAVIOUR). I'm not religious by the way, but this really brings a new perspective to what "the chosen one" could have been all about (or at least, newly imagined in this era). What we were seeing in Episode 1 - 6, was merely Anakin's preparation as a living being to becoming the Saviour / Chosen One in the afterlife, which now (HOPEFULLY) we will see in more live action TV shows. Now I'm thinking, in the beginning, is Qui Gonn fully aware that Anakin would have to go through all of this suffering in his life in order to fulfil the prophecy of the Chosen One? That his turn to the darkside and death was an unavoidable and necessary part of the prophecy? And he took him from his mother and insisted on ushering Anakin toward it? Such a powerful theory. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO.

There is so much that goes on in The Clone Wars that I'm reluctant to call the Mortis arc my favorite without giving it some thought. It's definitely very close to the top. I know I find myself going back and watching it over again and again. It's just so very epic to see Anakin tap into the force that deep. Also the few times he lets anger and frustration get to him. Clovis hitting on his wife really set him off. His loyalty to Ahsoka through her whole attempted framing. There's just so much to his character. To see his journey to becoming the full on ultimate force user. Man, this could satisfy so many fans. Why wouldn't they do this? Makes perfect sense. When I read the title of this video I didn't want to watch it, because I figured it was bad news. Quite the opposite. Thank you for giving me something to hope for.

Technically, Han Solo isn't really a loner as he has Chewie and Lando as friends and eventually befriends Luke. But I believe George originally described him as the cynical loner who learned to join a group for the greater good. I think what happened was Han was originally supposed to be Luke's sidekick but Harrison is so charismatic and who got all the best lines, George ended up creating a sidekick for the sidekick which was Chewie that Han was his own Batman. Han also ended up with the girl at the end considering Luke and Leia were twins but the audience doesn't know this until the end of Empire. And you really can't call Han a sidekick when he's the one saving the main hero twice. Man, George's Alaskan Malamute was really awesome. He inspired Chewbacca and Indiana Jones' name. George's dog and Chewie are the best friends we all need.
@mar_speedman
@mar_speedman 8 ай бұрын
I don't think that part about Harrison being the reason for Chewy's existence being true, because Chewbacca was part of the script, and they would've hired the actors after the script was written. Han was definitely a loner, though, even with Chewbacca. At worst, you could say Chewbacca was more like a pet. At best, you could say he was the only real friend he had (Lando was more like a work partner he had a falling out with) He wasn't a loner in the sense that he was alone, but he was in the sense that he didn't care for social interactions. Until he learned to get along with Luke and Leia, at least. Also, Luke and Leia being siblings wasn't planned until Return of the Jedi. I think Han and Leia were always meant to be together though, because we've been having this love triangle since A New Hope, with Leia showing no interest toward Luke and a very strong chemistry (though antagonistic) with Han. She kissed Luke twice, but both times was to prove she didn't like Han. Of course eventually she admitted that she did love him in Empire Strikes Back. Also, Leia has been a subversion of the damsel in distress from the get go, so for George to have planned to subvert the idea that the hero gets the girl from the very first movie is a plausible theory.

Just noticed but that place is shown in the Star Wars Rebels, which is a place that is an nexus of time, so that may be the force ghost of Anakin far from the future, where he has learned the ability to switch at will. I remember that place because it got an episode towards the end of that series, and we see Ezra save Ahsoka, from the past, and that place looks extremely similar to it. So it makes me think that place is next door to the nexus of time, where time does not apply to those who have become force ghosts.

Hey Theory, I think I've observed something that nobody else is talking about it. End if episode four with subtitles says, "Vader (father) theme". That begins the world between world scene. Episode 5 at the end of world between world set when ahsoka is baptized there is music. When you turn subtitles on it says, "Celestial music". Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the Father, son, daughter celestials? This could be Filoni hinting that Anakin is now the new father since the whole world between worlds set is bookended by "Vader (father) theme" and "Celestial music". What do you all think?

I think it's actually quite amazing and fits perfect to the point it seems to have been an option from the start. It really fleshes out Anakin the character even more...especially with him being able to actually control both sides of the force since control was his biggest downfall.. He really had to train and dedicate his ENTIRE natural life to the art. Really good!

With all the turmoil going on at Disney and LucasFilm, would it be the move of the century if Filoni, who up till now, seems to has been on Kennedy’s leash, did have a plan to have an ace up his sleeve through Ahsoka??? This was a rumor we heard a year ago and since, the first episodes of Ahsoka seem crafted in Kennedy’s hands. Being on the scene, did Dave have some ‘insider trading’ that said ‘lay low for now?’ What’s waiting in the outer rim that Filoni had use to retcon the sequels, if not actually in Ahsoka, but in the reported upcoming movie??? Is it so that Favreau and he are just waiting? We’ll see.

Doesn't really matter, someone's always gonna be unhappy. There's plenty of people who view the prequels the same way most of us view the sequels. My own father and my uncle on my mother's side wouldn't even watch anything more after seeing Episode 1. It is what it is, Hayden is a great Anakin and I'm happy seeing what they're doing with him in the new canon so far

I like it. You're Description of everything mirrors. Some comments that I've copied were pasted several times on KZbin channels, reactions, and reviews of this episode. Which reminds me. You said that you didn't like it when Hera was able to hear the Lightsabers. Well, I think I got 2 points. That will help you rectify that. First point, Jason is Force Sensitive, and Force Sensitives can band with people like a Jedi Master and Apprentice Can bond to a point where each of them knows immediately when the other endanger. Like when Anakin felt Ahsoka's electrifying capture by Bain during the Clone Wars Second point. mother's bonds with their children. I believe that the familiar bond between Hera and Jason. That somehow enabled Jason to subconsciously allow Hera to hear the Lightsabers clash. May the Force be with you.

I like the idea that the force ghosts can command how they present themselves since they are in sync with the force and how Anakin can revisit his peace and his anger because that's a lot of how force powers come out and affects the body of the user, is the intentions. I don't think he's a Heimdall, but just a spirit like yoda or Obi-Wan that can, and do visit the last remaining force users due to how powerful they were in life with the force. Especially with how Asoka turned out as an adult, his abilities, his service during the clone wars, and his overall impact prior to Order 66; Anakin really was/is an unrecognized Jedi Master.

I think Ahsoka was only there mentally. or force ghost Anakin created this "illusion" in order to make contact. That would explain why Jacen could sense it. He did the same thing as Baylon and just felt what was going on in Ahsoka's head. Anakin wanted Ahsoka to move on with her life and not spend it grieving. he wanted her to stop thinking about him becoming Vader. he wanted her to stop thinking she was just death and destruction. because she is more than that. that was his whole lesson

The way I instantly took it was that he has either replaced the father or is some sort of equal in terms of power. From what we know in SW he is more than a force ghost and has powers equivalent of a Mortis God. Not only did he switch between light and dark on a whim but he bent space and time in the WBW to his will. He embodies the balance he was supposed to bring

I thought it was inferred that it wasn't Anakin "switching back and forth" between light and darkness, but just Anakin as a light side entity "modifying" his appearance to teach Ahsoka the lesson. To trigger her into feeling in danger and having to fight back. George never wanted Anakin to be "dual" when becoming one with the force, he wanted him to be fully, wholly good, purged from the evil within.
@EmpyreanDreamer
@EmpyreanDreamer 8 ай бұрын
He''s not dual. He's the balance. It makes absolute sense that he would be able to wield both sides while being neither. He's also not good or evil. Though given he retains his individuality you could argue in this case he's leaning more toward good given his connection to ahsoka.

Well technically, you can look at it this way anakin and, Darth Vader are two different people inhabiting the same body perhaps he was meant to bring balance but not In the way the Jedi intended, perhaps he was meant to wipe out the current Jedi order and the Sith order, and the force would recreate the two orders again and start the loop again and again

I also think it significant that the series is basically telling you that Ahsoka is Anakin’s successor. She is his, and has always been his official Padawan. Luke and Leia are his children, but Asoka is his official apprentice (& little sister “snips”). That means a lot for Anakin, but especially for Ahsoka. “You possess all my knowledge…. & you are more. Legacy”.
@jarebearart8926
@jarebearart8926 8 ай бұрын
I think that the force is kinda like the "cosmic wheel" it keeps everything spinning but it's machinations are beyond mortal comprehention. It eternally seeks to ballance and unballance itself. Keeping the eb and flow of life in movement. Anakin now exists as a conciousness in that wheel making sure it spins properly.

I think this wasn't actually force ghost Anakin, or real anakin. I think it wasn't anakin at all. I think this is like Rebels when the temple guard granted Kanan the Jedi Knight tittle but in reality it was just the force, somesort of force vision. So to me it makes sense for this to be just some sort of force magicness while Ahsoka is unconscious, like a dream provided by the force
