Brayden, I'm a former CM and GSM of over a decade at WDW and SHDR. A significant reason the parks are in their current state is much of the upper management and executives don't experience the parks, let alone know anything about their products. I can't tell you the number of times I was standing with an exec or a member of upper management in the park when a guest approached to ask a simple question about the location of an attraction or land, and they had no clue. How can you claim to carry the legacy of Walt Disney when you don't even care enough to educate yourself on the experience you sell? It was frustrating and disappointing. If you want to see real change, we need people in positions that matter who actually know the parks and experience them like the average guest, not using DSA or backstage drive-ons.

I was an analyst on Disney’s Corproare Strategy team and asked if I could do the tradition where corporate new hires work a day in the Parks. They said they don’t do that anymore and laughed at me. Word for word: “we’re corporate, we don’t have to do that.” 🤡

Not to start a political brawl but maybe Disney is too concerned about being woke and has lost sight of who their real customer is or should be. I remember going to Disney World in January in the 70's, early 80's and many of the attractions were closed to be refurbished.

They need to replace the glasses more often at all 3d rides and shows. They are all warped from the heat of sanitizing them. For the cost of the tickets, we should expect good 3d glasses.

i have two local cinemas in my area: One is cleaning 3d glasses, at the other one you can buy them. I prefere to buy them to get good ones because i was in the cinema that cleans the 3d glasses. When i arrived for watching avatar i got a broken "cleaned" one. I complaint and the they put out a new Charge of new ones. But come back to disney: Creating one of the most expensive rides in the world and than just destroy the experience is simply just stupid! Just only stupid! This is one thing that is destroying the Disney brand!

The last time I rode FOP it was blurry enough that it took me out of the experience and made me look around to try and focus instead of enjoying the moment. I chalked it up to: “this is how it must have been the prior year but I was somehow remembering it as better than it was.”Thanks for confirming I’m not crazy.

I worked for the company from the late 70's to the mid 90's, and it saddens me to see how bad the company is getting. I've gotten to the point when I go down to visit family I won't even go to the parks anymore. It really bothers me how expensive it is getting, I feel like the company is growing to fast and all they think about how much more money they can get out of people, and they could really care less about they guests. To me it is really a shame to see what is happening, it used to be a great place to work, but seeing how it's being run now, you couldn't pay me enough to work there now.

Just got back yesterday and I noticed a few things: 1.) Lots of rides were down for lengthy periods during our four-night stay: Rise of the Resistance, Test Track, Remy, Pirates of the Caribbean, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Space Mountain, Tough to be a Bug. 2.) The 3D glasses on Toy Story Midway Mania, Muppet 3D Vision, and Mickey's Philharmagic were all noticeably much cheaper and thinner than the ones from our last trip. I was getting a headache during Muppets. 3.) We've been going to the parks at least once, if not multiple times, per year for the last 10 years and we're letting our APs expire on January 22. There is very little new and what is relatively new is often not running properly. Our next trip to the Orlando area will include Universal for the first time ever...and it's weird to say that.

Funny cause Universal rides also breaks down a lot. Some even half a day when we were there but they don't get blown up and reported on social media like Disney so people think it's only happening to one park 😂

I can tell you this the last three times that I have been to Universal which were in like 2 years I only experienced some minor delays. I will list all of them. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey: went down just for less than 5 minutes The Cat in the Hat: when I walked up to the ride it was Delayed, I rode One Fish ,Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and The Cat in the Hat was already back up again. Are there times that weren't during my trip that I see that rides are delayed for a pretty long time? Yes, but usually Universal takes action, they get the ride back up and running eventually. At Universal there are many people that say the operations are great, key word great. At Disney it feels like it is more of a 50/50. Don't get me wrong there are some days where maybe a ride at Universal has to go down for the rest of the day, but usually it's back up the next. Not only that, people noticed it with Disney because over the years maintenance at Disney has gotten worse. Don't get me wrong it depends when people go, there can be times where some people get unlucky and it is a day where a lot of rides go down, but other times someone can go and never encounter a delay during that day. But even if it depends when people go like I said, I usually see very good things about operations.

@@bryancurdi451 Damn, you typed all of that just to defend your case. I don't believe the breakdowns at Universal don't get reported as much as Disney cause there are literally channels dedicated to report on it. MIB and ET was down for half of the day but I didn't see any report on X.

@@gissneric Do you go to Universal, more than that one day you were there?? The two rides you mentioned, are older rides, ESPECIALLY ET. Universal rides go down sometimes, sure, but it isn't NEARLY the amount and length that Disney rides go down for, Velocicoaster was doing previews when I went once, before it was fully open, and even that had more uptime than some of these Disney rides.

@@gissneric yes I remember seeing the app on that day, however later, after noon they reopened. I don't know if I added this above, but obviously there are going to be times where rides might be down for almost the whole day or for half the day, (even with good maintenance things can happen) however having rides constantly breaking down for about half the day isn't normal and that is bad. How could it be the Pirates of the Caribbean was closed for weeks or days without warning, I forgot for how long it said in the video. The last time I saw a ride at Universal out of nowhere go down for a week or two was the Hogwarts Express when supposedly one of the cables snapped and then I think to order the cable it was taking a while. I remember there was a day that it was reported that like 5 rides at Universal Studios were delayed or down in the morning, I checked the app and yeah like half of the rides were delayed, but then I checked later and some/most of the rides were back up, and then I checked again and all of them were back up. That was a one time thing and luckily they were able to get all the rides working again. Actually I just remembered, I think this was like 2020 or 2021 where it was reported that a power outage affected Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure one morning for half the day. Again I'm not saying Universal maybe doesn't have their maintenance issues, (I can't say for sure) but aside from media outlets, and channels that report things like that, hearing from people that have recently went to both Universal and Disney or just Universal or Disney, I mainly hear that at Disney there are more breakdowns/delays, again that's not to say that these people didn't experience delays at Universal, but they (probably) didn't experience/see as many delays as they did at Disney.

As a Disney Park fan from the U.K when we visited last year it is obvious there is so much cost cutting happening in the Parks. FOP was really blurred after queueing for hours, Rise of the Resistance half the attraction wasn't working still in B mode like year before. Most popular rides had significant down times complained to Guest Services only to be told the down times were normal for the parks! So much money, so little enjoyment, Disney is failing its guests! It's sad to see how far the parks have fallen in such a short space of time.

Once again you understand the situation. I am so glad we visited Disney since the 80’s - it’s hard to believe the changes. I know profit is always the motivation - it is a business. That said, a prudent company adds value to the experiences offered which in turn can help ease the pain of the increased costs. I’m uncertain when the company thought only profit rules. I started worrying when Disney stopped training craftsmen in-house. They had their own carpenters, painters, electricians, plumbers, gardeners. They had their own plant nurseries. This built loyalty among the employees and encouraged craftsmanship. They knew how to build their own animatronics. Broken parts were manufactured in house. Perhaps they should have taken a clue from Europe which maintains its historical treasurers by continuing to value craftsmen and restoration skills. Who better to work with the imagineers to build new attractions then in house employees with a vested interest in the success of the parks!!! Thank you - keep it up!

After 20+ years, we let our passes lapse in September because the park experience has been so disappointing. I’m actually worried for the future of Disney World.

I was telling my wife about a month ago that I get nauseated at the cave/luminescent scene so much that I don’t even wear the 3-D glasses anymore on the ride. THANK YOU FOR REPORTING THIS! Disney is massively failing on ride maintenance and just park cleanliness in general. I really hope that a major ride accident doesn’t occur.

To us Canadians. The $8k trip for family of 4 you mentioned is $11k for me after exchange rate. I usually go every year but the magic is burning out. Disney is really cheaping out. Less characters out to meet and greet. I say dump the streaming business and focus on parks. Expand and people will come from all over. Parks are the bread and butter for Disney since the opening. I'm from the UK and I used to love going to Disney in the early 2010s. I always felt that the extras you used to get for free, the staff and the cleanliness was above and beyond. I used to have my own Disney blog as I was so invested and truly used to tell everyone no business cares about their customers more than Disney. Over the last 4 years though, honestly I don't see me returning or telling people to go with what I have heard and seen. No point wasting (a lot more due to increases) money on an ok experience.

As someone who actually works at FoP, there isn't a *chance* it will be blurry--even with brand new glasses, it *will* be blurry. I was told the 3D doesn't do well with the dark scenes. That's why once the caves get brighter, it magically gets less blurry. I know we have new glasses because I've seen people a week or two ago opening new boxes of glasses.

A few months ago we actually threw them all out to replace them regardless of if they were blurry or not. So braden is here saying we don’t care when actually we do and we do test rides every morning and evening to make sure the ride looks good. I have ridden it over 100 times since it opened in 2017 and it looks the same as it did back then.

Every time a guest approaches me after the ride with concerns about their glasses being blurry and it's just that 1 scene I tell them "that's just how that scene is" if I want to be brief, but if they ask why I tell them all of that👆👆. Sometimes people also ask if the glasses are clean & they get to learn about that process too. These aren't really secrets.

Great observations Brayden. When people like me leave the parks and hotels feeling like they didn't get their money's worth we won't be back. The problem with the Disney executives is that they don't have any skin in the game. They are outrageously compensated while they and the board implement DEI and worse, disrespect their customers and drive the company into the ground. It's a very disheartening situation.

Part of the appeal of Disney was confidence in the rides' safety and having that out of mind. I'm in Vegas. If coasters are smoking and glasses aren't being fixed and themeing is low I might as well just go to the adventure dome at circus circus for rides. Their is even a new ride somewhere in town using tech from ride of passage and soaring. That would only cost $30 as opposed to the pice of a Disney park.

I rode Flight of Passage a few weeks ago, and I had this exact problem! It's my absolute favorite ride and I hadn't ridden it since 2020. Its sheer beauty usually makes it an emotional experience for me, however, the blurriness made it so I kept adjusting my glasses. I was thinking, "There's no way the glasses are blurry after paying $20 per person and waiting three years😒" Half-way through the ride, I just accepted it and tried to enjoy it as much as possible. And yeah, the cave scene was particularly blurry.

Here at Great America we have a 4D show with glasses similar to those. They will simply not run the ride if they don't have enough that are scratch free. How is it that we could drop 5 figures on new glasses and this billion dollar park cannot? Mind-blowing.

Not only should Disney have built a brand new attraction instead of gutting, splash mountain, if they really wanted to be more conservative, they could’ve just saved all of that money stocked up after Covid on parts that are probably difficult to get overseas now with rising supply, chain costs, etc. so that at least the attractions that they already have remain open

Disney is cheap with maintenance lately. You can see it in every park. You would never see garbage anywhere or trash cans overflowing. Flooded sidewalks, rides down. It shows everywhere. I pray there are no real bad accidents because of the lack of maintenance. Guest experience is suffering and it'll come back to haunt them. It's sad.

I just got back a few days ago from my first trip since 2019. I just felt most attractions have not been kept up with as much as I remembered in the future. Lots of wear and tear on newer rides in little areas, tons of wonky animatronics, and just lots of little things that I kept noticing that could ruin magic

Can we talk about how the ratatouille ride is brand new and is constantly breaking down. I went with my family their first time and once in a lifetime trip and I wasted 4 hours in line for ratatouille, we got on the ride and half way tru the ride, the ride broke down again! It was so bad I heard the cm yell “ I GIVE UP!!!” Turns out the 4 hour wait time was due to the ride breaking down multiple times during the day. Not only was the standby line long but they had been giving LL during the day due to the issue. So LL was also a long line. The park was about to close once they finally got us out of the ride and they gave us a LL for our next park day. A lot of people were upset because it was their last day at Epcot. We were lucky that we still had one extra day and park hopping. Disney needs to do better. It’s so expensive to go to these parks these rides shouldn’t be breaking down especially when they are BRAND NEW!!!! 😢

Totally feel this report. I think you're nailing this. We were at Disneyland/DCA 1/17 and nearly everything you discuss was happening in spades in Anaheim. Yes, there are a lot of seasonal refurb walls up - I get it. That kind of thing has to be done. But rides old and new were dropping like flies. 'Rise of the Resistance,' down. 'Runaway Railway,' down. 'Radiator Springs Racers,' down. 'Grizzly Peak,' down. Hell, 'Peter Pan's Flight' went down twice while we were in line and we ended up never riding it. Point is, with 'Fantasmic,' not back, with fireworks gone, with Splash Mountain in transition, with Blue Bayou Rest. down (and on and on and on), it was impossible to feel like we were only getting a part of a park, with hgue crowds of people in oppressive standby lines... And that's after shelling out a LOT of money for the privilege. My God, even the 'Pizza Planet' experience was 3rd rate, with two cashiers taking orders after you had seconds to review a laminated menu while lines of people breathed down your neck after which you take a ticket to an ad hoc collection of rolling counters where harried cast members shuttle back and forth collecting food. Yes, the I.P. is the heart of Disney, but the parks are the lifeblood, and if we're going to go and feel like we're getting nickle-and-dimed, and like we have to have our faces buried in our phones the whole time coordinating reservations for rides and food and being up-charged at every turn... I'm sorry, but something has to change. Because many of us truly love the parks, and to see anything less than a platinum-standard experience that increasingly feels like a shakedown operation... well, that's just tragic.

100% correct. I took my family 1 to 2 times a year. I could do this because up until about 4 to 5 years ago, the pricing I felt was fair. Not cheap but fair. For a family of 4 on a 10 day trip, hotel tickets, including park hopper plus would be roughly 8 to 900.00 a person. Not 1 day but for the whole trip. Most of the time, they even gave the dining plan for free( the seat plan). What makes me so angry and sad is that many are priced out now. There was something unexplainable about how special it was there. Sadly, that is now gone

James Cameron wants a way of water film to be added. I think that could add some freshness like star tours. Thats the whole point of screen based rides. They sell everyone onbeing easy to update but rarely do

I tried to get on Rockin R.R. twice last November. Both times it shut down before I could get on. I tried to go to the gift shop and was blocked off as well. I know Braden likes to blame the parks presidents but this is really an Iger issue. He uses the parks as cash cows to prop up the messes he made in other areas, slowly killing the parks in the process. The next few years I will be going to Universal or nothing. This year was my last time until Iger is removed.

Great job as usual Bradon. I think, in the case of the Pirates being down, it's bats. Seriously. They've got a real bat infestation issue. Pirates down for outer entire visit this past August. You can see video, photos from attendees if you Google Prates, Disney World, bats. They need to spend money to end this issue.

Bats are a protected species. It’s illegal to harm or kill them in Florida. In order to remove them, Disney would need permission from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, but removal becomes complicated when baby bats are present. Maybe they need to create some animatronic owls and hawks that screech ultrasonic threats. And, create a double-fenced cage aviary-type system to enter/exit the building once all the bats are out.

I just got back from WDW, and can confirm FoP is as blurry as it has ever been. Every ride with the exception of Tron has multiple things wrong with it, and in some cases like Everest, Big Thunder, and It's Tough To Be a Bug, over half the special effects are completely broken.

The sad thing is this degrades the guest experience. Disney use to be all about that. Also Disney needs to remember they will be competing with Universal who will have interactive attractions with Harry Potter and Nintendo. If they can't even keep the existing attractions functioning they will be in a world of hurt!

The last time we were at Disney my kids ran over to Hollywood Studios to ride Rock n Roller Coaster before the park closed. The people on the train right after them reported smoke and the coaster was shut down for the rest of our trip. They were grateful that they got to ride before the shut down. I was grateful that no one got hurt.

I've stopped renewing my Disney Passholder tickets because I've seen that the ceo"s were getting bonuses and they were taking away perks and raising prices. They're upkeep of rides have gone cheap and front line workers were screwed. I started going to Europe for vacation and it ends up almost the same cost but you feel better. It also gave me a perspective of maybe moving over there.

I used to go to Disneyworld every year ! But last spring I had the honor of bringing my wife and kids for their first time ! I was so excited . Only to experience my kids and wife have the worst time . I felt horrible for bringing them . Will never go again until Disney gets fixed

It is obvious that the parks and guest experience is not the top priority. The inflation of the prices of literally EVERYTHING paired with long lines that get jammed at the loading platform because you have to wait for the Genie+ line to go first. And don't even get me started on the virtual que. I left disappointed after my last trip. The whole experience was greatly lacking compared to previous vacations.

There's another situation that affected Pirates of the Caribbean back in 2023, and that was the bats living in the area---according to my secret sources. Whenever the bats get "too comfortable" in Pirates they have to shut it down completely. Complicating matters is that Disney had to wait until the breeding season was over before applying for permits to even begin the process of catching/relocating them to a safer area.

I can confirm this 100% another cast member told me that they don’t care for safety for cast members as they get attacked from bats all the time while walking to different areas of the ride having to put on hoods to avoid being scratched from the bats and they told me that last week

FOP has been blurry for me 3 out of four times I’ve ridden it! I was pretty sure it was the glasses so I would make sure to inspect mine first and also clean the lenses as good as possible before riding. The last ride that did not work at all and it was really blurry! Thanks for bringing this to attention!!

The best thing for Disney will be when Epic opens. Smaller crowds, no year long prime time crowds and now you have the time to do the proper refurbs. Also can the bonuses for these greedy execs and if they are that talented as an exec than pay them what they're worth and do the job. If the suck continues than the board should what needs to be done and get rid of these talentless execs. Great video as always.

I was evacuated from 3 ride queues at Magic Kingdom last October. I can’t tell you how defeated me and my partner felt by the end of the night. We missed out on Seven Dwarves Mine Train because of it all, and that’s WITH purchasing an ILL (it was one of the 3). Guest services ultimately did their best to take care of us, but it was such a rough day.

This is truly disturbing and disgusting. Now that all the old guard that developed Disneyland and WDW have retired there are no longer anyone in management that cares about customer satisfaction or the quality of the show that Walt and his team felt was so important. It's all about squeezing as much money as possible from the suckers while exerting the least amount of effort. The only thing that will wake them up is for people to stay home or visit other parks like Universal who seems to have grabbed all the talented designers that Disney no longer wants to have on the payroll. Let's just retheme a couple carnival rides and pretend we've created a new attraction. I'm doing my part as this revelation has convinced me to cancel my upcoming WDW trip as I can no longer see the value based on the overblown prices and changes that force the guests to use their cell phones to navigate a day at the parks. It's become more of a job than a vacation.

I just found out today that I was ripped off by disney. I got a table service dining plan just to find out that they're charging 2 table service credits per restaurant. Plus, they're now giving one snack per day. 4000 dollars for two people. Yep.

As a note: rockin's 2 part refurb to increase reliability and efficiency was originally planned that way due to procurement issues that would hit the holidays. PLC was updated. Also the original final brake design change is simply for reliability issues due to the stress and heat that first design carried. The new magnetic system with controls reduces all of that significantly.

This is like a restaurant. The day it opens the food is phenomenal. You go every week to eat and try THIER new dishes. Then you take a break for a few months. One evening you decide to catch dinner. You are shocked by the poor service and bad taste of the food! Then you notice that the food is of poor quality. You get home and your stomach is rolling. You Get the runs. You wonder the F happened. A few months later you drive by and it’s closed. This is called bad management and poor planning. You end up drinking peptobismo from a wine glass!

Flirting with disaster by not maintaining the rides. A bad accident would be the final nail for them. All these stories would come to the forefront and the lawsuits would be flying all over the place. Disney would lose trust and good will that will not come back for a very long time.

I think you’re doing a great service talking about these things. I’ve been looking at ride times at Disneyland recently, and I am amazed by how often so many rides are down at the same time. Four out of five days rise of the resistance is closed every morning when the park opens

Definitely noticed that on flight of passage! However, I actually have not been using the glasses on it almost since the ride opened because I feel more immersed in it without them! It's actually become less blurry without them VS with them! But I don't get motion sickness, so I wouldn't suggest those who do to try this just in case.

I noticed Pandora was not great, but thought it was where I was sitting or needed focus adjustment... sad that corporations generally suck... but its not the corporation its the top 20-25 people that make corporations suck... so you can actually name names as to the cause of the problems. Maintenance is a huge issue. I am a Passholder and I do go more than the average guest. That probably helps me to notice malfunctions a little more easily, but it really is getting bad. Rise of the Resistance is amazing. Great ride. But it seems like every time I ride it there is something new that isn’t working properly. The first thing I noticed were the big canons. Only one had stopped working. Now none of them work. When I rode it in December, the canons still don’t fire. The guns on the front of the AT-AT did not lower and point at the ride vehicle. Which looked silly as laser blasts flew by with the guns pointed at the ceiling. Kylo Ren’s lightsaber did not come down through the ceiling even though the cutting effect remained. I do think the last scene animatronic of KR was working in December, but several times that I have ridden the ride it was only a video through the window instead. (B-mode). It’s just bad that so many things are broken on one of their newest, and certainly most signature ride of one of their parks.
