I feel I gotta share my opinion with our age gap, I was 10 years old when I discovered the show in 2011 and started from 2005 and caught up in 2012. I’ve loved the show all the way til 2017 when capaldi left. The show started getting bad and it finally gave me an excuse to start from 1963 and watch the classics (currently on the final season in 1989 and sad I’ll be done with good episodes soon) They claim they do this for the “under 30 year olds” they are trying to apeal to us but as a 23 year old I don’t know ANYONE including the LGBT community that enjoys this garbage. I can’t find one positive review from anyone I know. We all hate this shit

In 1963 my Dad and I sat on the couch and watched the very first episode of Dr Who. I was 6 years old and was in awe of what I watched,it became a ritual for us. This is totally unacceptable - you want to mess with things mess with them,but leave Dr Who alone. The whole point of the Dr is he is compassion,courage, innocence and wisdom rolled up in a neat package - in our fantasies he's saved us from Daleks, Cybermen, Silurians, The Master, Weeping Angels,Davros,The Silence,Zygons,Ice Warriors,Sontarans - there are so many I can't remember them all. I'm heartbroken at this tomfoolery - yet another beloved character has been dismantled and destroyed in the name of DEI and political correctness. The Beeb should be ashamed to let this happen,I'm going to go out and get every damn OLD episode on DVD there is and then never watch a new episode again. If every fan did that the whole thing will collapse but at least our precious memories of the Doctor won't be sullied.

Unfortunately, the BBC are funded by a compulsory TV licence fee (currently £169.50 per year) that anyone with a TV in the UK must pay. So, BBC funded shows, such as Doctor Woke, can continue to promote "The Message" even if the show loses the majority of its viewers. This also explains why the writers and actors feel free to hector, berate and chastise the remaining viewers for being gammons, while promoting their peculiar forms of degeneracy to younger, more malleable minds. Personally, I haven't watched Dr Who since the great Tom Baker played the lead role, but I still have nightmares about The Brain of Morbius.

I agree with the broad thrust of your argument , but must just point out you are not quite right about the TV licence , it no longer applies just for owning a TV anymore that went out some years ago. It is for watching the Iplayer or watching/ recording any live TV channel even overseas channels on any device. So basically you could have TV in every room in your house and be legally licence free as long as you only watch streaming on demand content from the likes of ITVX, 4 on demand or paid for streaming services such as Amazon, Netflix etc as long as you don't watch any live services, ie TV that at the same time is also being broadcast over the air to the massess . Sorry perhaps you already know , but many still pay the licence in ignorance of the rule change and the BBC /TV licencing deliberately try and confuse what you can and can't do

As a Brit, Dr. Who was always on TV in my household. My parents watched it from 1963 onwards, my earliest memories are of Peter Davison, and I became a proper fan in 1987. Two years later the show was cancelled but i spent those "wilderness years" becoming the biggest fan you could get. I met all the actors, writers, directors, producers at conventions, bought all the merchandise, rewatched the stories continuously. This was all while the general public laughed at the old show and it became a joke for being cheap and silly. I quit the show at the same time Clara left, and your clip compilation at the start of your video shows why. Before the race or gender swapping of roles and before the show became overtly woke, there was ALWAYS this constant anti-male bigotry in the show. Constant digs against white men played for laughs. Subconsciously it turned me off the show even though I couldn't put my finger on the problem at the time. All I knew was that it stopped being fun, it stopped being enjoyable, and I was enjoying new anime and shows on the Syfy Channel more than my beloved Dr Who. I see that clip show at the beginning of your video and I cringe at how cheap, camp, and silly it all is. I see it the way the general public saw it in the 80s and 90s, and if that's ME seeing it that way then imagine what the general public feel about this crap.

I think the most infuriating thing about it is that they act like we can't be real fans if we don't like their changes. I don't care about inclusivity, it's fine, I don't find it off-putting. It's the way they're going about it that rubs me the wrong way. They talk down to us like we're stupid little infants who couldn't possibly comprehend the GENIUS of their storylines when said storylines are as elementary as they come, so much so that it's insulting. No one (no one who is worth listening to, anyway) is arguing against racism being bad, or sexism, or pollution. We all know these are issues plaguing our society-we don't need reminded of them constantly to remember that they're bad. The problem is that subtly is dead-the most masterful of writers can weave real world issues into stories without the readers/viewers even realizing it, unless it speaks to them directly (or the viewer is just particularly philosophical). The beauty of such subtlety is how your fans will debate its meaning for YEARS to come, a lost art that seems impossible to find these days. As for sexuality in Doctor Who as a whole, I think any true Doctor Who fan has always, ALWAYS known or at least assumed that The Doctor is not simply straight. This isn't a NuWho thing either, I remember reading something about the Eighth Doctor being in relationships with men, or at least one of them being considered 'more than a friend'. And Jack Harkness was very openly pansexual and no one batted an eye! Even the older fans who have stuck around longer than I have even been ALIVE. So for Ncuti Gatwa to flat out say that we're not real fans after EVERYTHING we have seen and accepted, even LIKED up until now is frankly spite masquerading as moral superiority. I think that Ncuti Gatwa has probably received a lot of hateful comments his whole life and I hate that for him, but in my opinion, it seems to have turned him bitter and jaded, so he lashes out. This causes others to see his behavior and continue to speak badly of him. It's an ouroboros, a never-ending cycle of perpetual, mutual hate that would take forgiveness to put an end to. This is precisely the kind of forgiveness that The Doctor used to champion-to be kind, to break the cycle, to choose to forgive instead of using what was done to you as an excuse to be crueler to those who were cruel to you. These are the lessons that have been lost to NuWho. Gone is the kindness and compassion. Now, we mock our enemies, we hurt them and berate them and tear them down because they deserve it, right? Because we hate them, right? I don't know. It's sad what's happened to Doctor Who. I was 15 when I first started watching Doctor Who in 2011, and it taught me a lot of important lessons that have framed my perspective of the world. The nuance and gentleness of someone who has done terrible things and is instead choosing to be better now is gone with the newer episodes. It's disappointing, and the fact that David Tennant and Catherine Tate read the script and went ahead with it unflinchingly is also a let down. I would have thought they would see how far it was from what used to make Doctor Who great and would say something, or at least TRY and advocate for a change in the script, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyway, I have a lot of thoughts on this, I could write all day about it, but in the end, nothing I say will change what is happening to the show. Rest in Peace, Doctor Who, I wish we could have done something to save you from this fate. 😔

It doesn't even work in terms of enlightened values. On the woman front, treating them as innately better seems a dubious victory. It also doesn't work super well on the LGBTQ front. The old rule was 'don't stereotype'. Now you have the creator of this thing saying vivacious, curious or having a basic capacity for joy is gay. A lot of TV shows rely on gay characters as being uber fashionable. It's incongruous with the goal of normalisation. When you saw the clip from the female reboot of Ghostbusters, the gay character licks her gun. Why? What are they trying to say about gay people? I think they said the doctor dances in a nightclub in a kilt (so skirt basically) and has a more hip version of the sonic screwdriver. It's... not challenging stereotypes exactly. You have the option of treating people like humans. Treating them as magical elves or pandering so hard you pull a muscle seems you've been turned around.

I am English, live in England and one of those fans. Been with Doctor Who since Tom Baker. I saw the worst of the classic series with Sylvestor McCoy. I did not think it could get worse than that, till Jodie Whitaker. And that was truly bad. I checked out of the show and the merchandise, books etc at that point. But I never thought it could get even worse. Till Gatwa and RTD the 2nd. A big part of the problem is the BBC. And its woke agenda. This time they have let Russell off his leash, out of his sex dungeon and he has gone fully gay warrior with the series. I was upset at how bad the Whitaker era was, now I am just numb. I went through the hate phase, then the despair, then slight hope...Now I am in apathy, and just mock what used to be my favourite show. My childhood. This series taught me to read with its book tie ins. Irony is no one watched the Christmas Special. First time its been back on Christmas day for years, millions of people at home watching Tv, and no one watched Doctor Gay and the Goofy Goblins....and even less will be watching the series.....

On the plus side, there are lots of worthwile seasons. And the adventurous may even be so bold as to check out Blake's 7.
