One of the most overlooked things about ask this is that disney isnt built to have a fast pass system. Look at Universal for example. Most of their rides have dual loading platforms so one line doesnt affect the other. And if for some reason the express is empty, they allow the regular queue to load on the express side

Disney's greed just doesn't seem to end. Not only are they hurting the parks, these increased prices affect the surrounding businesses and their employees. People can't afford these extreme prices.

They had a system that worked and broke it. Listening to these options discussed must be what a stroke feels like. With attendance dropping and Epic Universe opening in May, this may well all be academic as everything may be a walk-on a year from now for those still patronizing this awful company.

to me, it's a last ditch money grab before EPIC opens. They're scrambling, but they can't even muster expansions or new parks as fast or cool enough anymore.

I totally agree with all of the points that you brought up. Let's go back to regular standby lines, free people up from constantly looking at their phones (this is taking away from quality time together while at the park) and get rid of the little upcharges everywhere. I agree with your point that the pilot project might not work out well if they are keeping the old with the new while testing, though...

We were there a couple of weeks ago (during Milton, for crying out loud). Even on good weather days very light crowds and a lot of walk-on rides. Disney has a big maintenance problem, imho. Lots of broken/ barely maintained items in the parks that have existed for quite awhile; too many to list here. Loved Disney in the past, but they are so greedy and it keeps getting worse. Starting 25-26, Universal is going to eat Disneys lunch, big-time.

I’d rather Disney have $300+ tickets and people go less. It used to be a 1x in your life experience to go (maybe 2-3 if you were rich). I’d rather take my kids 2x in their lives with less people/lines vs going every single year, stuck in line 7 hours each visit, which is so not magical. Similar to the $250 Mickey Christmas event back in 2021, where we ran through zero lines for 6 hours. It was amazing and I’d rather pay out for that experience every single time.
@NickInSanDiego2 ай бұрын
Now that they’ve started it I think they’ll never get rid of Multipass unfortunately. Perhaps one thing they might be able to do is find a sweet spot for the price of the multipass. For example if they tested and found that if they tripled the price of multipass, then only about 1/3 of the people end up buying it than previously. At that rate Disney still makes the same money, LL is much shorter of a wait for those who purchased multipass and premier, and standby moves more smoothly because there is drastically less people to have to let through LL first. Win-win-win. If that change makes the benefits of multipass too close to premier pass then make premier pass unlimited. With its crazy price, I don’t think the number of people willing to buy premier pass will affect the length of LL much. Also, in my dreams the parks go back to how it used to be. Such Sweet Dreams.

If Disney carry on the way they are going, then their parks are done. They should drop all this madness and just let people queue normally for a ride. At least you know how long it will take. I remember visiting the parks in the 90’s. Visiting during the off peak season most rides were a short wait even though the parks were busy. They are just ripping off their customers to try and get money back for bad business decisions made by the board.

You can fly to japan and come to our parks for way less i reckon. its less than 100 bucks to get in, food is cheap, ok the hotels arent that cheap but they're not as much as America. A family of four trying to go on a peak ride has to drop 100 dollars for LL >>>wtf ! And after they just spent , what 200x 4 for entrance. thats almost a grand for a day. We were there just before Milton hit and we purchased MPLL for all but AK. My observations: not needed at AK so I’m glad I didn’t buy it and for the other parks, it didn’t seem like a ton of people bought it. Maybe I’m wrong but it seemed like it was only a handful of people at a time. What surprised me most - that 30 minute early entry actually was handy. It enabled us to ride the “extra” charge LL rides before they got crowded. I just don’t see a whole lot of people forking over the big bucks for the premier, but who knows…

I'm really interested (and quite afraid) to see what Universal UK does to European theme parks in general re skip the line services. You're absolutely right that this crap doesn't generally fly in Europe, it's there for the people doing a once in a blue moon special trip, but it's priced so it doesn't affect most people's experience (Merlin manage that perfectly well on their own with poor operations 😅) I'm scared that Universal will copy the USA model and it'll work financially, and other European parks copy it, resulting in a worse experience for everyone else. Hopefully it doesn't happen.

They're charging significantly more for less. Universal's includes unlimited rides, sets you back $110-115 and is included for free with deluxe resort stays. Disney's is up to 4x the price, one ride on each ride per day, and deluxe resort guests still have to pay for it. Also I agree that this isn't going to work well with the lower priced tiers, but I also think in its current form, if they got rid of single and multi pass, they'd have no one in the LL queue. Who can afford this? It's going to be a very small minority of guests. I also wonder from a profit standpoint if more expensive LL passes, but less of them sold will equal more money than single/multi pass that sells more per day, but at a lower price point. I also wonder how many people are actually buying single pass when multi pass is basically the same price for 3x the attractions. Seems like a waste of money! I know there is some rube out there purchasing it though or Disney would have gotten rid of it.

The issue is that they had a healthy amount of people in the fast-pass lanes on the old fastpass timeslot system where it was first-come-first-serve and that was all there was to it. Once they started charging money for it, they went "Hey, if we just increase how many people can get fastpass, it'll make us more money!" but now that's ruining the lines for everyone, and people are paying to stand in line for the same amount of time they would have before the system was implemented in the first place, despite having to pay more. On paper, the entire new system is literally just a scam.
@corylieder14522 ай бұрын
I see your point, but I haven't experienced that when I buy MP LL for my family. We have used the system to give us incredible experiences and definite value add over the standby guest experience. I wouldn't blink at paying $50 per person per day for MP LL. I'd hold my nose and be annoyed between $50-$99 per person per day, but still pay it. After that, I wouldn't go to the parks.

I haven’t been to wdw in almost 10 years now. I’ve been wanting to get back but things like this disincentivizes me to do this. Not that I’m the market for it. It’s the principle of nickel and diming. And the regular lighting lane is pricy and complex too, and I’m a planner type on vacation too. But I did go to Disneyland over the summer for the first time and still spent the whole day looking at my phone. Was close to dying around 4 so had to stop what I was doing go back to the hotel, charge, and come back to a a bunch of closed rides and being herded like cattle around main st cause of the firework demand and not being allowed to stand idly anywhere. It’s just distopian.
