This is a new location of a very upscale bakery based in Indiana. The Indiana prices are the same as the ones at the Boardwalk location. So the prices were set by the owner, not Disney.

This was our first trip to Disney World, we live in California and often visit Disneyland. My kids and I have watched so many of your videos preparing for our trip. We were staying at the Boardwalk and walked by while you were filming, my daughter spotted you and we were so excited when you waved back!! I know ya all in the comments are mad about the prices but whole cakes from real bakeries cost $75 to about $300 for just a large round cake nowadays. Bigger more artistic ones are in the $400 to over $1000. All the ingredients are more expensive than ever and it takes time. I’m not disagreeing that $22-24 a slice is expensive but just saying…not as overpriced as you might think. That said, for that price it better be smack you in the face good 😉. I’m so torn about the prices. My first reaction is the same as many others that it’s overpriced. But I used to work at a custom cake shop that made the best cakes I’ve ever had and I miss it so much. Many people thought they were overpriced but there were reasons for the price. The way Tim and Jen described the cake sounds like those cakes and I would pay $22 for a slice because I’ve never had it anywhere else and it’s a rare treat.

I still think $22 is too much, but I think I would pay for it the rare chance I get to go to Disneyworld. But anyway, the shop I worked in was closed to the public, we didn’t have slices someone could walk in and buy. It was owned by someone who was both trained as a chef and was an artist, and her custom cakes looked better than what you see on tv shows about 3D sculpted cakes. It was located in a big city and they used the highest quality ingredients they could. For example, they always used real vanilla extract, which is expensive compared to imitation extract, and they didn’t use box cake mix (which I was surprised to learn some custom cake shops do). Anyway, those are just a few examples, it’s been years since I’ve worked there so I don’t remember everything. But again it isn’t directly comparable because the cakes they made were custom designs that were often ordered weeks in advance, not like a little bday cake someone could just pop in day of and buy.

I just saw Book of Mormon for the first time in May and LOVED it. Might have listened to the soundtrack 100 times since then. So cool that both of you got to see it!! Insidious:Face the Fear live performance looks like it'd be pretty amazing. If I lived closer to where it was showing in Iowa I'd go for sure. As for The Book of Mormon it's playing at a community college about thrity minutes from me but for a single ticket it would cost $500 to $600. I just can't afford that.
