I went to spirit of Aloha in 1994 on my honeymoon! It was really fun. This summer will be our first time staying at the Polynesian in celebration of my son's high school graduation; his choice when we said we could go anywhere. A full circle sort of feeling.

It’s such a stunning and fun resort. We’ve never had the $$ to stay there but we always do the “free option” Of riding the monorail 🚝 and visiting there, pin trading and getting food via mobile order. So it’s not as good as staying there but it’s free and fun to enjoy the interior and just hanging out there with the kids! I pray one day to be able to stay there for a few days, winning lottery would help LOL 😂

I stayed in the Rarotonga building several years ago. It still had the 1970’s vibe and I LOVED it! It also was extremely close to the Great House. When I was tired at the end of the day, getting back to the room from the monorail was so easy.

I loved the spirit of aloha dinner show! It was absolutely amazing as a child! I learned to hula dance and saw the best fire dancing ever. Also food was great and I was a picky eater so that’s saying something. 😂 It will forever be a favorite aside from character meals of course. I’m so sad it went away.

I am rewatching your hotel stays as they are so good. The mural is Maui’s tattoos which is so cool. If I ever have a honeymoon (unlikely 🤣) that’s where I would stay. I used to say the Contemporary but no I think the Poly has taken 1st place in my heart. 👍

My Mom...and her Sister did a Poly vacation (without us kids) in the 70's. However. "Eastern Airlines" (the wings of man) lost their luggage. And they had nothing to wear for the Luaua they booked. Being Children of the depression. They made due. using the sheets from the bed and asking the front desk for safety pins.(and band aids...ahhh...it's a nipple thing) Anyways...they proudly walked in the Poly Lobby and requested a flower for their hair...wearing the green floral print poly bed sheets. And tennis shoes.

It's set up just like the remodeled rooms at the Contemporary in the main tower. We were at the Contemporary in Dec that same week my husband hollered at you on the Monorail from where you were doing the Monorail crawl.

Wow, this is bringing back memories. We just went to the LUAU right before the pandemic came out. It was unfortunately cold because we did in February of that year. We were laughing because we had to hula with our winter coats on. It was like a fluke cold weekend, and then we we had to leave it warmed back up.

That's a nice view of the tree you got there lol. I wouldn't be thrilled about the bathroom sink area being so tiny and awkward but everything else about that hotel and room look absolutely great! You're right though.. I think I would also have preferred the older 1970s decor and vibe, darker woods and kitsch bamboo everywhere. So cool! John Lennon stayed at the Polynesian Hotel the week before the Beatles broke up. A lot of history there (and good food from what I hear!).

Hi Nate!! Poly is my absolute favorite resort. Theres just something so unbelievably special about it for me. I was there with my mom in November and stayed in one of the new rooms (the remodel really was needed looking back at the rooms before these. My pictures in the rooms all look so dark) and I'm with you - I LOVE retro WDW so I was a little nervous about the room redesign but I ended up really loving how bright and clean they were! Every little detail at the resort helps create little rituals while we're there. We loved walking home through the little pathway from the TTC back to our room after long park days. The flowers smell absolutely incredible through that area. I also just purchased that spirit jersey! It was a must have for me. We're switching it up a little this year and trying out the Beach Club for EPCOTs 40th anniversary stay but I'll definitely clear some space in our schedule to pop over to my beloved Poly
