I'm surprised they give tours for this, they seem to be so strict about the "magic". Thanks for sharing all you do, it's so interesting.

CraftySingleMom thank you so much for watching! I know! Disney's funny that way, I think they know that there's a burning curiosity and this allows them to capitalize on those who truly want to understand it all fully. The tour that always seemed most fun to me was the behind the scenes at epcot tour. but epcot is also my favorite park... but they always seemed like the most satisfied tour group to me. 😁
@sherylperry3308 жыл бұрын
CraftySingleMom They do have restrictions on ages too. You have to be 16 years of age or older to attend the tour. They also tell you that you can share your experience with other people but be mindful of little ears and make sure the people you are speaking to want to know what your telling them. For me personally seeing the magic happen is part of the magic, to see the work and dedication the cms have as well as the secrets it doesn't ruin anything but it gives you a new appreciation. Nothing in Disney happeneds by accident everything has been given so much thought, it allowed us to see some of the details we have overlooked by trying to make the most of the day.

I used to work at the Magic Kingdom in 2006-2007 as a Jungle Cruise skipper. That was actually when I started my KZbin channel. For those who are curious all the skippers would end up right in front of the Pirates of The Caribbean ride when we entered the park. Don't know if that's still the same route. But it was a good solid walk underground. It was about a 10-15 minute walk to the break room where they served food so breaks were pretty tight time wise for when you went on break to the time you had to be back due to that if you wanted to eat or take a break in the cafeteria's. There was also a good chance that you would end up getting the crap scared out of you on more than one occasion from walking by the trash pipes right as the main system made a very loud and echoing "BANG" sound from time to time. Even when you know that area's coming up during your walk, you never knew when that sucker would go off as you're walking by it.

The keys to the kingdom tour does the tunnel; however it is the last thing you go do. You go down there and stop at a couple stops to see some photos. Not to really tour all over the tunnels. It was cool for me but some people didn't like it. We saw some characters with no heads on and we were told not to bother them because they are of course trying to get ready for the day. I still recommend the tour because it's awesome

I'm changing my questions since I saw a few of them answered in another video: Once the initial training was complete... did you have to go back for training of any kind? Are the face-characters that you meet at meet and greets the same as the "same character" in the parades and in the dancing-singing shows? If so... did you actually sing or was it all pre-recorded and you only lip-synced? If you WERE in those types of presentations (or if you know)... how much time is spent learning, rehearsing and practicing for those performances? and where does that practice happen? Under the magic kingdom? a remote sight? on "stage" but in the middle of the night? (I am so interested and happy to learn these answers!!)
@OakesPrincess6 жыл бұрын
sorry to only be replying a year later!!! the only training I ever went back for was dance training.. or if there was a new character one would be taking on, that's the only time it was done.. the characters were different that you met verses ones in the parade, at least at Magic Kingdom as there just wasn't enough time to run around that far from place to place, but at Studios, it was the same, though don't quote me on the studios characters.. but I'm 90% sure... it just depended. In the parades, it was all lip synced, but in the shows, it was generally their real voice! And the performers that use their real voice got paid a heck of a lot more! :D as for how much time was spent learning all that stuff, it just depended on the show.. no more than a month at most.. a couple days at least, for simple parade routines, but the big shows, they could start rehearsals about 6 weeks in advance to prepare.. hours and hours were spent, I was never one of those people but I watched my friends and I recall some nights they literally slept on a sofa at Disney overnight because they had to work crazy hours just to rehearse. The practice happened in dance studios that were anywhere and everywhere on Disney property.. one off the top of my head is behind Main Street in Magic Kingdom, near where the parade costume stuff is.. or actually in there, I forget, lol. But it's over there.. there's the one by Animal Kingdom lodge, a random building that has a dance studio as well as cleans cast member costumes, etc. Sometimes on the actual stage after park close, yeah.. thank you for waiting so long for a reply! :D

They all have helpers , so it's very magical , and I'm 16 I'm madly in love with Disney, so yes these are their helpers. Jen is definitely a helper of jasmine 😁❤, thankyou fo helping jasmine or any other disney princess to meet their fans! Awesome video! Great seeing the tunnels at WDW. They must have really helped CMs get around on high capacity days. At Disneyland, we'd have to do some backstage jumping to get around quickly, but even then it was very tough to get through the crowds or parades. We were always asked about the tunnels, and always had to correct guests that they were in WDW, not Disneyland, though we did have one underground area in New Orleans Square, which was kind of neat too. :)

Do you remember if there is an specific Area inside the Tunnel that only Princesses can go into?
@OakesPrincess Жыл бұрын
The only places I'd say were like that was the cosmetology room, fur characters were never expressly forbidden that I can recall, but because your time to get to set was limited, there really wasn't time to waste looking around or bringing people in? I remember everyone rushed in that area...lol but if a friend who "didn't belong" really wanted to go, I like to think I'd of brought them.. there were areas where face roles tended to cluster around, but that was mainly because they needed a "break area" or hangout close to where they needed to run on set if time was an issue... but if you had friends who weren't face, always they were welcome. Hope that helps! 😆

It's funny... I was familiar with both Aramark and Ben Nye makeup from my college courses. And the pictures of the utilidors look exactly like backstage at an arena, which I worked at. Maybe I should have done the college program, but I didn't want to be that far away from my family for a whole semester. I don't regret it, but I do wonder what it would have been like. The more I hear about it, the more fascinating it is! It doesn't break the magic at all for me.

Excellent video! I was wondering, when a character comes up from the tunnel, where do they enter a guest area from? I mean, you don't want some kids hanging around, and Snow white comes out of a door for example.
@OakesPrincess7 жыл бұрын
Right.. whenever I came up from a tunnel, it never appeared as though I'd come up from the tunnel, because there were usually at least a couple of doors I would come out of before finally entering the "stage/guest area".. so they conceal the tunnels very well, if that makes sense. :D Guests often saw me come out of a cast member area, generally though, if that makes sense.
@Gomek27 жыл бұрын

I just went to Disney in October and we did the Keys of the Kingdom tour. The tunnel system Is cool but you don't see to much of it even with the tour. I kinda feel bad for the cast members we met along the way at the tour, they work so hard onstage I'm sure when they see these groups and there on break they don't want to have to deal with these groups and I can't blame them. the keys tour was awesome, but don't do it just to see the tunnel system because your don't spend a lot of time in there. It was about a half hour out of a 4 hour tour.
@OakesPrincess8 жыл бұрын
+Sheryl Perry oh wow! Great info for those looking to do the tunnel tours! How did the cast members look to you? Do you remember seeing any particular characters? I think, having been a character, it's just...Disney works so hard to get you on the same page with them about the importance of keeping the magic, but then they go and let people see you with your head off, lol. And you feel almost like you've done something wrong, you've failed at your job or something. Lol. Hard to explain, even I don't get it. I had to write a paper on the "religion of Disney" for a humanities class I took, lol. Kind of eye opening. I hope the tour was fun, despite not spending more time in the tunnels. Thanks for watching the video! ❤

Jennifer Oakes We got to see the Mad hatter doing a dance routine and Princess Aurora had her makeup on and was holding her wig but wasn't in wardrobe yet. It was really awesome to see, the tour was amazing and our guide was awesome. You can definitely tell it was a labor of love for her. I talked to her a bit while other tour members were using the restroom and she had taken the month of September off to go to Disney in Paris just to learn about there park. I think she really made the tour special for us. The tour was a few days after our wedding that we had in Disney and the day before the tour we had an early morning park photo session to have pictures in front of the castle. That almost felt like a personal behind the scenes tour also because we got to see all the work that goes into making the magic for the guest and the hussle and bussle of the parking being power washed and rides tested. The cast members really do create the magic. I do have a question for you, my husband is going in a business trip to Universal in January we are AP holders for Disney and I am going to fly down the last few days of his trip so we can enjoy the parks for a little bit, I will be alone the first day. What would you recommend for someone who is spending a day at Disney by themselves?

I only found one video about the brazilian tour groups. Are they really that bad?
@OakesPrincess6 жыл бұрын
hahaha, I think Americans found them quite annoying. I mean, they were only "challenging" for me during the dining experiences, because their culture is so different, it feels, with all due respect, chaotic, lol... every culture is different, but I mean, I love Brazilian people, it's just when you're trying to be fast and efficient, you need order to help keep things streamlined and that's not the way everyone operates, so it was just challenging, which.... can irk some people. lol, I have a Latin background, so maybe I'm more empathetic? haha
@johannahv.4848 жыл бұрын
Okay, maybe this is a weird question, but I've been really curious about this. What kind of undergarments do the face characters wear?? I know some princesses wear bloomers, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. Like for example, the girls who play Cinderella can't wear a normal bra with the bodice, so do they all wear company approved strapless ones? Or is there padding in the dress itself?
@OakesPrincess8 жыл бұрын
I know what I wore.. but I can't say for sure what the other girls wore.. this is a question for my good friend, Rachel who portrayed Snow White---though I will say, I definitely remember the bloomers. LOL xo

yes, often enough that I remember, but not so much, thankfully.. it was more if a parent forced a child to meet the character, or especially if Jafar or Genie was around.. I always wondered if it was because maybe the kid hadn't seen the Aladdin movie yet or something..

No, from memory, the no picture backstage was a pretty strict rule :D

Jennifer, I mean this as no disrespect at all but you're obviously VERY UBER gorgeous. And I think it would be nice to see you without the makeup, no frills, just regular Jennifer. Now I'm not suggesting you do a video with your hair messed up or anything, just a little less glamorous. LOL. I can tell from your videos that you're breathtaking inside and out and the info you give through your videos are very very useful for whenever I'm going to Disney World. I just feel that it would be nice to see you as you would look like around your house, that's all. Anyway, if you take my suggestion, great, if not, that's cool too, it is a suggestion after all. ;) Thanks for reading and keep them Disney videos coming. :)

+GQMofo thanks for being so sweet!!! I have another youtube channel dedicated to beauty and I'd just filmed a "thanksgiving makeup" video right before filming this one.. so that's why my makeup was like this...however, the "what's in my mail" video uploaded after this video shows me looking "less glam" and more like myself... honestly I don't usually have time to glam up, though I prefer to be glam if I can, haha. It's just not realistic for all my videos at this stage in my life. What's hard is that when I'm not glam and look more "normal" then I get comments sometimes that are critical about that..even less views on videos where I look "normal," but going glam isn't always relatable either. Thanks for the feedback though, it's nice to hear and is encouraging because of course I'm self conscious being on youtube (even back in my princess days, I was self conscious then, probably just me being a girl, comes with the territory, no matter the age) but thanks for sharing. I'll try to remember that! 🙌😅💫

can you have interviews with other retired princesses like yourself?
@OakesPrincess7 жыл бұрын
I could if I could find someone who was willing!!! That's the hard part.. Have you seen the videos I have done w/Rachel Hankle?! who used to do Snow White at Disney? I have also done a series w/a guy who was a fur character, Matt.. have you seen those?? I keep in touch w/some from facebook but most of them aren't interested in being on KZbin for various reasons. lol. I know! so hard! though the girls who have gotten cast after having watched my videos seem to be the type that might eventually also do the KZbin thing. :D I have to say though, having a KZbin channel is not w/out its challenges! xo

AWWW! where is the fun in that?! lol j/k Yeah, I honestly felt like the fur characters, in particular, didn't like people seeing them w/their heads off.. it just depended on the person. xo

i worked for disney and at the magic kingdom for a while. Let me tell you the truth the tunnel stinks like their are dead bodies under there and the aramark cafeteria is horrible. The food is disgusting. they have unisex changing rooms so men and women are changing together. in order the get to your area you had to take elevators to get back up to the park level, and when you got a break you never had time to even go down to the break room. it's not that great believe me. Epcot was much better.

So given the high numbers of children that go missing each year from there, how don’t you know the actual, deeper map the rest of us have seen that seems different than what you’re describing? Do you recall any sketchy (doubt it) packaging passing you by? How can none of us know about the Disney cruise ships packed full of countless little ones that went directly to Epstein Island?🤔💔Continue to pray for our country and the awful events that have come to light.

The Keys to the Kingdom Tour is really fun! Though the Utilidor just looks like a regular old basement, just with piles of food in random places, and the occasional glass case of pictures.

Yeah, I hope so! It's so worth it. Though hopefully I didn't annoy the rest of the people on the tour by asking a million questions :). I wonder if the tour guides talk about "OMG that guy had questions about EVERYTHING!" once the tour is over. One of the Floridians on the tour assumed I'd been to the park tons of times because I knew stuff- I had to tell him I was just obsessive and it was my first time at WDW ever.
