@@mrconroy4672 I dunno... BlackRock have had a pretty bad time recently. It was that China business they are being investigated for and they also put a lot of money into failing companies like Ubi Soft for instance which they are major stock holder of. While they move around huge sums of money, almost of the money isn't their own so there is a limit to how many bad investments they can make. If the people who have their money invested in them start to notice how a lot of the companies they invest in keeps failing, they can fall apart like a house of cards in just a few days. As long as the majority of their investments went well and they didn't annoy the federal government by illegally invest in China, that wasn't a problem but things have started to shake for them now. So my bet is that they will try to keep their heads down, at least until things look better for them. They basically own stocks in all the failing western media companies (and are certainly involved while many of them are in trouble in the first place). More then 90% of the money they invest are other people's money, that is money that require some confidence in them to stay in their portfolio. Hollywood and the gaming industry crisis are rather likely to hit BlackRock badly too. I mean, their Ubi Soft portfolio is basically worthless now and it isn't the only place they lost money in.

Nor will the Helios hotel be that affordable. Since it is being advertised as a luxury resort. Universal erased that price for a reason, as it was clearly not real. The ticketing scheme is ridiculous. I was excited for Epic Universe, until that leak. There is not enough to at Universal Studios, even with Epic Universe, for more than two-days. Epic universe is going to make a lot more money on merchandise from epic universe than Disney probably will by the extra crowds heading to Florida. Harry potter always sells well, Nintendo sells well, I’m sure dark world will also make a lot as will the how to train your dragon stuff. Then celestial park itself will sell a ton of merchandise. It’s a whole new park and it’s going get a ton of traffic and it’s going to sell a lot of merchandise just for the fact that everything is new. And I completely understand the whole multi day pass thing until the overcrowding situation calms a bit because I’m sure the park is going to be wild for a while because all types of foreigners and people from across the US are going to be traveling there to go visit but I believe epic universe will dominate in merchandise sales and that will be what pushes universal to overtake Disney in Florida.

We have season passes to Universal and we don’t live in Florida. We’re just there the week of Milton and it was PACKED OUT. The upcoming hurricane did not seem to dissuade guests in the least. We stayed at the Portofino hotel which is Universals TOP tier hotel. They’re undergoing renovations right now so we got a deal. It wasn’t even $400 a night and that INCLUDES front of the line fast passes for everyone in the rooms for the entire duration of your stay. There was also no limit to how many times you could ride. The hotel itself was beautiful. (Even with renovations if felt very much like a top tier themed resort in Vegas). Food was great, staff was amazing- we had a good time as always. I CAN tell you though that most of the people we encountered in the parks did not seem to be locals. They were either from out of state or other countries all together. I spoke with a woman whose family had long since been Disney fans, and I once they changed the DAS system, they could no longer go. Her daughter had epilepsy with episodes brought on by standing for long periods of time. So the new DAS system DENIED her daughter the pass even though they had always had a pass for the last TEN+ years of going to Disney as a family (they were a family of four- so it’s not as if they had tried to scam the system and get ten people through the front of the line). She was disgusted with Disney and how horrible the new system was. They switched to universal. Had the DAS system NOT changed at all, they still would have done Disney. Even with the crazy prices and even more insane stressful pass apps on the phone. So even the die hard fans are having a hard time sticking with Disney. And when it affects your child or loved one’s health? Heck no. Epic is going to smoke Disney. From what I saw on this last trip people are NOT waiting to go to theme parks. Maybe the locals are, but the parks were insanely busy. Even in the pouring rain with a hurricane incoming, all the rides were open, nothing was down, nothing required maintenance, and all the food stands and restaurants were fully stocked and open. If we hadn’t been concerned about driving back in the mass exodus of traffic, we would have stayed the whole week of Milton. As it was, our room was able to go to another family who needed it as shelter from the storm. We love universal. Have for the last fifteen years at least when we could see the direction Disney was headed in California. We grew up a Disney family, but no more. Until they completely change their leadership over there and begin to make good decisions with the company, we will stick with Universal, SeaWorld, Dollywood, and six flags.

So, as an adult who lacks a great deal of disposable income and has no kids.. I can speak for only myself, but I have no interest in going to those parks. I mean, I won't lie, a modicum of curiosity was piqued when I heard about the Dark Universe stuff, but.. thousands of dollars, only getting to go to the one park for a DAY? I don't like that.. it's vacation, the more hoops you put in front of people, the more they'll get irritated. I mean, I remember going to Disney as a kid and it was hilarious, in hindsight. That drained look on my dad's face when saw the bills; I swear his hair started to go gray that day. To his credit, he tried his hardest to have fun with us there. But when I was shown the prices as a teenager, 'cus my parents were considering going back, my eyes went wide as saucers. I remember, back when we used to do rollercoaster parks, usually we'd go for Hershey Park or Busch Gardens. Why? Because they're closer, for one, because a lot of the rides blew Disney's out of the water, for two, and for three.. Hershey we can make in a handful of hours, while Busch Gardens is a full day's drive, but there's some REALLY cheap hotels out there. Like.. I only have my own perspective, so I probably am not qualified to speak on this. For me, I'm not particularly interested, but I am a homebody, but I have been talking to my friend who has a son, around 4 I believe, and he said they're considering going to Disney. Oh god, we wound up bitching about the finances together, and it was hysterical. We always have a good time, and he said he wants to bring his kid out there in a couple years. When I asked him why, he said, "Well, it's for him [his kid]; he [his kid] only gets to experience something like Disney once from a kid's perspective." And you know what? I'll give him that. I have zero judgment for that. Anyway, I have no real point here other than, my fat ass ain't going on any rollercoasters anytime soon.. which is a shame, I was a total coaster junkie when I was younger. It was SO FUN.. man.. The Great Bear back in the day was such a smooth coaster, and Apollo's Chariot genuinely made you feel weightless for a second before it launched you right at the ground.. but oh well. It is what it is, and I'm happy my parents wanted to go there. It was fun.. and I guess that's the whole point, huh? Alright, well, take it easy everyone; I wish you all a pleasant day and I hope for the best for all of you. I'm off to do... I dunno, something. Probably watch more youtube videos or something.

Not to mention, Universal botched the opening of Islands of Adventure. There are already rumors that “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry” is not going to open with the rest of Epic Universe.
