What's This? - Nightmare Before Christmas - WORKPRINT EXCERPT

Here's "Jack's Lament" as it appears in a workprint of THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS made sometime during production.
Though the song is a mix of final vocals and demo instrumentals, the scene's animation is pretty final with the exception of a few missing shots of Zero.

Danny's singing voice is so beautiful that it really stands up even against the silly demo vocals. Exquisitely beautiful. You can just see him recording it in a soundbooth!

I love how these were the original voices.. so.. odd to hear them after hearing the finals. Especially without the gasp before seeing the Christmas door. I'm guessing Jack yelling while falling into the portal was also a part of the song itself.. Cool! That probably saved a bunch of re-takes.

I’ve heard that this demo has Danny’s original vocals as Jack’s speaking voice before Chris Sarandon was brought on, is this true? Since the spoken lines are so short I’m having trouble telling.
