You didn't do any research about this at all. You're allowed to have your lightsaber out you just can't run around swinging it for safety reasons. You can have it out and carry it. In lore the first order will come and harass you about it because jedi are supposed to be a secret. -A woman who was just at galaxy's edge and made a saber and walked around with it out and played with it.

I have been to Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland several times especially at night and everyone is walking around with their sabers out, lit, and proud. They just don't want you fighting with them

Its just apart of the act. They weren't trying to tell you to put it away, they were just staying in character because light sabers are "contraband" to the first order. You can walk around with your light saber all night if you want its fine, just be mindful of other guests if you are planning to swing it around or something. I brought my light saber to the park on two occasions in July and when I first built it I carried around with me quite a bit with no issue. I feel like this IGN guy just got the wrong impression from the cast members. OF COURSE they want you to play with the thing just stay safe with it.

I don't know, our group of 5 had plenty of moments where we either brandished or fought with our sabers in the park, and no one asked us to cease or sheathe them. Granted, it was more on the side, so if we were doing it in the middle of the pathway I can see an issue? I get Disney's perspective on it, and get the "200 bucks lemme swing" argument. Honestly from what I saw in the park, as long as you aren't just walking around with it out in the main pathways where you could hit someone, no one really cared. At night we saw like 5 groups of adults / kids with sabers around the Falcon having a blast.

I did the same for my 8 year old daughter this past Halloween. We were at Disneyland for 3 days, and did Savi's workshop on the 31st. She chose a peace & justice saber with a violet crystal. My wife and I found that the best place to take photos with her using it was actually at the Launch Pad over in TomorrowLand, where you can do meetups with Rei, Vader, and Chewbacca. At the Launch Pad, they were very accomodating and allowed her to brandish the lightsaber about, they just asked that she not swing it *at* anyone or any of the displays.

I was encouraged to swing the sabre around for "action shots" and pose like I'm doing Force Powers. Two quick points: 1. Disney World's version allows you to have your lightsaber out for photos and interactions with walkaround characters. 2. Having hidden interactive elements activated by your lightsaber (like the wands at the Wizarding World) wouldn't make sense for Disney because with the wands, a guest merely points at an object, releasing its magic. A lightsaber isn't magic; it has to come in contact with something. Disney doesn't want people whacking it's props with lightsabers to interact with them.

I was at Disneyland a few days ago and we built our own lightsabers, and there was no problem when we had it out. We also saw a lot of other people walking around with their lightsabers. I don’t know, maybe the rules changed or maybe we were lucky they didn’t see it.

I remember going to Epcot with my high school marching band and several people had lightsabers (not the $200 one, this was before Galaxy’s Edge opened) and while we were waiting for illuminations to start two people started to fight with the lightsabers. No one seemed bothered by it though, no cast members came and told them to stop even when a crowed of people gathered around and started watching the on going battle. So this is making me wonder if the people at Epcot just didn’t care or if there are different rules for different parks.

I've been Galaxy's edge in Disney world multiple times with my lightsaber blade active and out and never had an issue the employees at Galaxy's edge role play the part they're supposed to they'll also say stuff like "bright suns"and so when they see you have a lightsaber out they tell you that you should hide your scrap metal if you see the first order I went there one day and had my red crystal in and had a cast member tell me that I need to hide my lightsaber in case the first order sees it I smiled and said I don't think they'll mind ignited my lightsaber when she saw the blade was red she hid her face and walked away and would not talk to me anymore

Idk how it is in California but in orlando when the cast members give you hints like hide the scrap metal or whatever it's just them being in character warning us about the first order and how lightsabers are illegal. We are still able to walk around with them ignited and everything just no fights or excessive waving.

What they meant by “illegal” isn’t that you can’t have it out, it’s that by the theme, jedi weapons aren’t allowed there, so “illegal” means not allowed by, like, the storyline thing

Lightsabers are a bit more destructive. Wand can do magic and cool stuff. Lightsaber just lights up a dark room and melts open blast doors until destroyer droids make you run.

I get your point dude, but a wand is small, compared to a long, metal hilted saber. Its Disney, 'safety' is a concern to them, especially given how much that costs, im pretty sure they wanna make sure you dont break it, and try to get a replacement. Even if you're gonna grip it fine, they do not take -any- chances if it flys out of your hand, and hits someone.

The hilt isn't metal, it's all plastic. But yes it's an economical decision and not a safety one.

Cast Members are staying in character. They say it’s “illegal” because they don’t want storm troopers to turn you in to the First Order. There’s been incidents where guests have been hit by the “scrap metal” and for the most part, it’s by “younglings” that are the ones hurting guests by swinging it around. Light sabers ARE ALLOWED in Galaxys Edge. Just watch how your kids handle your pricey merchandise.

Well to answer ur question we are not quite on that lvl of tech yet but there are various engineers on youtube that replicated something like the movie light sabers just not exactly how'd you picture it to be in compared to the movies.

This pisses me off. I was there at WDW opening day for Galaxy's Edge, built the lightsaber, built my own droid and partook in everything the park had to offer. Galaxy's Edge is different from all the other parks. They designed and trained their cast to treat this as a role-play. To engage the guests to act along like they are actually on an alien planet in a fictional universe. In this fictional universe, the First Order made Lightsabers illegal hence referring them as "Scrap Metal". While there is also the safety aspect of swinging a heavy rod around and potentially hurting other people, their goal is not to ruin your "fun" of being able to play with it, they want you to engage in the story setting they have set for you. In Savi's workshop they even tell you that they are illegal and to be careful not to show them in front of the Stormtroopers. This is an immersive world that engages guests far better than anything that has been done before. It is one giant D&D session. I have a Mandalorian tattoo on my arm that was visible to the cast members and they would engage with me because of it, urging me to come up with a character and backstory and play along. So before you complain and cry about not being "allowed" to swing your toy around in a massive crowd, look at where the hell you are and the story that is being told all around you and go with it. That is what made the park (as lacking as it was) so much fun and better than the rest of the themes of Disney World/Land.

Galaxys edge interactive item is the droids like universal your encouraged to use it around the land it interacts with the land and you can even take it out at a mat in Disneyland and move it around
