Can’t believe Disney would get so Pooh-litical, this is un-bear-able!

Another great video! Love seeing old Disneyland footage!

Weird, as much as I love Disney, this little known campaign history I don't remember. Excellent job narrating this classic Disney Pooh history.

Hey Mark, I’m having a hard time getting people to click on this story because it is so different and off the beaten path. If you have the time please let me know what you think the videos about or what you took from it. Was there anything shocking to you that you were unaware of and the video surprised you? Your feedback could help me reverse engineer your thoughts into a possible cover or title. Thanks!

@HeyBrickey I really liked the look at such a quirky part of Disney history. Fans like me get a lot of content about imagineers (which I do enjoy), attraction development, and the like, but marketing campaigns like this one hit the nostalgia button. I have vague memories of this from when I was a kid in the late 60s/early 70s. (Shit. Did I just age out of a desired demographic?) For me, this was nostalgic, a whole lot of fun during a very un-fun current election year, and a quick lesson in tie-in marketing. (Pretty sure I had some of those Sears/Pooh clothes) Disney and marketing are peanut butter and jelly. They go together and I think people may need to see that it has been around Disney since the very, very beginning. Disney is a company that wants to turn a profit while providing quality family entertainment.... and has been since day one. Keep the quirky coming. We love it!

I remember all this just like it was yesterday. We have been going to Disneyland "and still do" since before the Matterhorn was built. The stories I could tell.....

This is great stuff. Loving the old footage. Thanks. 👏- and thanks for the “what you talking about Willis” throwback. “Hooked on polyester” 😂 My brothers wore “Tough Skin” “jeans” from Sears. Ahh, the fashions! 😱😂

It's interesting to think that a character and franchise that is Canadian born would be considered and represented for the United States of America marketing. Pooh must have been super over with the masses back then. Great video and thank you for the fun content! ❤

Originally instead of a tour by train, Disney asked Oscar Mayer if they could hitch a ride. But they said "No, we don't want Pooh on our wiener"

Brocket, nice report! That’s a lot of archived news 20:43 and film that you had to view to pull this story from the past. I don’t remember how much an ice cream cone cost in 1970, but a plain hamburger cost $0.25. A cup of milk in a tetra-pack cost $0.05 -that’s at school. A comic book was $0.15. And a dozen eggs cost $0.60. Cheers

Thanks for the fun video, perfect for a Saturday morning. I can't stop laughing at how ridiculous the Winnie the Pooh character looks with the honey pot & bee on his head.

Ok, this is hilarious and genius. I love the quirky bit of history that is perfect for this election year. Sears totally played the long game and their bootleg Pooh was the stuff of nightmares. As much as I dislike Pooh (orange or not), I might be convinced to vote for him if we really could have 5 cent ice cream cones. But I'm generally in the same camp as the kid that punched him in the gut.

Disney wouldn't be able to get away with this today, given how divisive politics are. There's enough controversy over the Hall of Presidents in Florida as it is 😆

If Pooh had actually ran for president and won, the white house would have definitely been renamed to the Sears House, owing to Sears involvement in the “campaign”. Also Sears Pooh looks flat out cursed.
