Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power episode 7 review breakdown of Amazon Prime Video's tv series. Galadriel survives the eruption at mount doom while Elrond convinces During to help him mine the mithril against his king's orders. Númenor goes back home with Miriel being blinded by fire. Elendil thinks his son Isildur is lost to a building collapse, and the Harfoots continue to be Harfoots. Bronwyn and Arondir turn up out of nowhere and do nothing. Before the Harfoots set off after the wizard to help him against the witches hunting him. How can they help him, who knows? But this episode confirms the answer to the question, is Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power worth watching?

Well this episode of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power simultaneously nothing happened, while EVERYTHING awful happened. The plot didn't move on but BOY did the characters change, so many people are evil that at this point how are we meant to see this as an optimistic hopeful show? Insane. But what did you think of the show or the clips from the review. Let me know your thoughts below, and as always, thanks for watching :)

compared to the last 6 episodes , this actually has some neat bits. also some weird bits . "Killing" Isildur , dumb fake out for those in the know .The start plays out in a harrowing sequence for this show . felt bad for the flaming horse even though its cg . the queen is somehow blinded , that in itself is a double edged sword . so she just stared at the blast ? the way characters find out the Queen is blind now is written and acted just right to give a sense of dread. What was Gandalf doing giving everyone the silent treatment after last few episodes where was beginning to speak to them . The tree getting fixed and the branch break was completely confusing . The random appearance of the cygics of magnus or femimem just to set the harfoot village on fire. ok then. The balrog at the end when the dwarves delve too deep , ok thanks for the Chekov's gun.

I literally saw people try to justify how all these people survived the volcano exploding by saying "Sam and Frodo survived being surrounded by lava after destroying the Ring" as if the situations are remotely comparable. Not to mention Sam and Frodo were dying and were hospitalized IMMEDIATELY afterwards where as everyone here seems mildly inconvenienced.

Orodruin was the only place in Middle Earth where the ring could be destroyed because the temperatures were so high. The whole quest of the fellowship literally hinged on this fact. But now they're saying a whole group of people can survive an eruption from the same volcano without issue. How could the show writers overlook this? We all know they're stupid, but wow. I guess Sam and Frodo didn't need the eagles after all; they should have just swum through the lava to safety.

It's a good thing they never tried to take the ring to sunlight, which can actually burn skin as opposed to what a volcano can do. Meaning that sunlight is hotter. Fire is obviously cold because fire is evil. So the black speech on the ring is only revealed in the cold fires of evil.

As someone that lives in California, where we have these huge megafires once in a while- that bit in the beginning looks like pics from the very worst of those fires, with red everywhere. Everyone's expected to have fully evacuated by then. It's these pics that are the ones that make the international news, since they're so dramatic and serious-looking. And, the smoke goes to many, many miles away, making for poor air quality for everyone (and for good business for the air purifier sellers). But of course our Girl Power deity and her Plot Armor Posse are walking around like it's no problem.

An appealing soundbite, but is it actually true? I don't believe so. Every story ever written, including Tolkien's LotR, was written according to the writer's ideological rules, and came from their beliefs and their world view. Tolkien's world isn't an ideology-free, amoral anarchy. It adheres very particularly to his ideas of right and wrong, even good and evil. Perhaps if you dislike or disagree with a writers ideological rules, that would be a reason why you might dislike their work, but I don't think even that is the reason RoP is so bad. I think its bad because its nonsensical, infantile, clichéd and boring. Its amateurishly slapped together and internally inconsistent. Ring of Power's silly Hollywood politics clumsily forced into a fantasy world certainly don't help it, but neither are they its most significant flaw. That's the fundamental fact that the people who made it are bad storytellers.

@@-yeme- yes, it’s true. If you set yourself a bunch of arbitrary rules about what you can and can’t do before you even begin writing, the end result will always be bland and predictable at best. Some of your character will have blatant plot armor, some plot possibilities will just be obviously off the table…. The audience will never reach the point of proper immersion. The queen is "blind" (yet somehow has become a master of interpreting facial expressions near-instantly, and can navigate around without tripping over anything while walking through a devastated forest), Not-Sauron got injured "badly enough to need elven healers", yet he's up and riding away in the next scene, looking none the worse for wear, and that's about it. Oh, Isuldir got trapped under some burning rubble. Oh no. I'm totally fearing for his life. Oh wait, no I'm not, he's a named character. He'll be fine. Oh no, Bronwyn might be dead. Oh wait, no she's not. They don't have the balls to kill off one of their Strong Female Characters(tm). Oh, but Celeborn is dead. Because he's a man, so he's expendable. Don't worry about him being one of the most important elves in the third age. Don't worry about the fact that without him, Celebrian can't be born, which means no wife for Elrond, which means no Elladan, Elrohir, or Arwen. I should point out that there literally cannot be two Durins alive at the same time. Durin is not a name one can simply be given even if they are the son of the current. Durin is more of a Title than a name as the dwarves believe Durin reincarnates, hence why he's known as Durin the Deathless. Some time after the current Durin dies, a dwarf will be born who bears a remarkable resemblance to Durin. Not just physically but his voice, his personality, mannerisms, etc. I believe at one point in Tolkien's writings he suggested that they even inherit some memories from previous Durin. It isn't usually until they are many years old that it becomes apparent to the others and he inherits the name of Durin. Durin the 3rd who is currently King was alive when the rings were forged as he was given one of the Dwarven Rings, but Durin the 4th and 5th who ruled between those times did nothing really of importance (which is probably why they have the 4th in here because then they could have him do anything they wanted and it wouldn't break the lore and canon, which is odd given what they've done to literally every other actual character they didn't make up) Durin the 6th was the one who ruled when they awoken the Balrog and was slain by it hence it becoming known as Durin's Bane. It's not until into the 4th Age the Durin the 7th (also known as Durin the Last) rose to power.

to be fair. the cloud was caused by the interaction of water with the volcano which likely created a "pyroclastic surge" as opposed to a "pyroclastic flow". a "surge" is usually around 200-250 C. it is fully as deadly as a "flow", the only difference being you have enough time to feel extreme agony for 3 or 4 seconds before your brain boils.

I’m feeling for: 1. Snow troll who was just defending their home, ruthlessly murdered by the home invaders 2. Balrog trying to sleep through hibernation, waking up due to people disrespectfully throwing trash into their bedroom 3. Celeborn who so wanted peace and quiet that he faked his own death for a 1,000 years to be free from Guyladriel, and was in such a hurry to do so that he raced through the armour fitting at the smiths (I mean, who wouldn’t) 4. The homeless, outcast and oppressed orcs who just want a home to call their own, being met with threats of genocide at every turn … 5. Guyladriel who genuinely has the look on their face of someone with an eternal tempest within their bowls (I’ll forever be using “there’s a tempest in me” whenever I need to excuse myself to take an urgent dump)… That said, I really enjoy Elrond & Durin. Their banter and Durin’s appropriate and deeply felt emotional tone is awesome. He’s certainly the heart of the show.

The main respon why Legolas shield surf was awesome, was because it was an act of enginuity, him being creative; the means to an end; saving his friends and making the space needed for the recovery of the broken wall, it had meaning, it was improvised, and selfless, not to show off or to be 'skilled', but to use the skill to complete an act of desperation, gracefully and successfully.ø, while saving ammunition. Og i think in the book he actually runs out of arrows a few times 😉. While it's pointless in the movie and invented for the screen, it does sell that he is a fighter who uses his experience and skill to get the kill. But Galadriel here in RoP looks like an amateur poser doing a weird move out of arrogance to the threat opposite, risk her life, and flips for the sake of elven awesomeness, not creativity, selflessness, or desperation. Instead it's painfully obvious it's done to make her look like an awesome acrobat fighter. It's like IP-MAN or superhero landings, it's like watching a kid with no grace trying to pull off some cool in his head move, but failing catastrophically, making it all look awkward. Legolas stunts were cool because they had propose and served a function. They were believable acts of creative fighting. Galadriel's is the polar opposite. At least they could have joined a local dojo or something and practiced a bit, and seen how teachers help them correct moves and stances instead of the previous fight with your feet' shit advice scene, which is evidently there to empower Galadriel as a strong fighter, but she looks like a kid with 2 left feet, up against kids who have been told to let her win. Why the fuck do they just stand and watch when she is open... It makes her look spoiled and entitled not skilled. Imagine Boromir going full arrogance on the hobbits... Oh wait 4 hobbits overthrew him while training in PJ movie, in a small Brawl. Fuck that was believable. It has nothing to do with predetermined opinion.... It looks awkward and shit, and it's made worse because previous scenes also were bad and unbelievable. The problem is that the agenda forces into the story isn't just misplaced, it's also poorly executed to the point it has the opposite effect.

Yes, his shield move wouod have been something people criticized if it had ended with a long slowmotion segment showing him looking cool doing a backflip off of it at the last moment. As was, his moves in battle both break tension while also being in the context of dead serious circumstances. That is a very hard balance to strike, but the Jackson films got it pretty well spot on.

Harfoot: Not walking away from Not-Gandalf when he performed dangerous magic. Also Harfoot: Blaming Not-Gandalf for being evil (which is VERY rich coming from them) after 2 of them got hurt thanks to their own stupidity. The writers are unable to make any character that we are supposed to like not evil and they love to create artificial conflicts in a situation that is extremely avoidable. Not to mention that they made “hero” characters lie and manipulate each other in a story that is supposed to be about moral compass.
