Insane Actors are KILLING Hollywood

Hollywood movies and Streaming TV series Like Rings of Power or She-Hulk demonstrate the quality of the entertainment industry today. Actors like Jennifer Lawrence saying she was the first action hero, or Mark Ruffalo always supporting the latest thing, no matter the damage it does. I think the actors are doing the most long-term damage to Hollywood entertainment, with people like John Leguizamo doing it seemingly out of pure self-interest. What does this mean for the Mario movie?

Jennifer Lawrence is back in an interview with Viola Davis about how they're so special and she was the first woman to do everything in the world :) But this is far from a Jennifer only idea, Disney, Rings of Power all love to preach about "firsts" and actors everywhere are constantly pushing to try and limit casting so that coincidentally, THEY have to be cast in that role, or more roles in general. Isn't it coincidental how it their ideas always seem to benefit them? Do actors care that their ideas are damaging Hollywood? Is there a way to stop it? Let me know what you think of the topic down below, and as always, thanks for watching :) Willow Review of Episode 4 will be out tomorrow. Cheers :)

Ever since the new x-men trilogy, I haven’t liked Jennifer Lawrence. I blame her for ruining that franchise. After the first movie, she refused to wear the makeup of mystic because it was “uncomfortable” (even though she gets paid millions to do the job) and forced the writers and director to work around her. She is the cause of the failure of that series, to the point where she wanted to die first in the last movie because she didn’t want to do it any more. Very unprofessional

Losing weight for the role of Katniss was not just about being fit. The character comes from the poorest district where everyone is starving, her included. She was so good at archery because she was illegally hunting to provide food for her family. The day she first met Peeta, she was there to steal burnt bread so they have something to eat. All these she would have known of she had read the book

Lawrence made me sick with this one. She came out after and whined about how she had to quit school in middle school, so she is lacking in intelligence and communication skills. She’s rich and privileged af. She can afford more education if she wants. She is privileged, she just doesn’t want to put in the effort required to improve her intellect. It doesn’t take much. Legit, you can read fiction and as long as you analyze it a bit as you go, you’re exercising your brain. She’s just admitting to being lazy.

Personally i love the historical background about the dwarfes. I mean, in medieval times, there was a great need for coal, a need for metals, a need for gems, and what was the type of person tasked with retrieving these things from underground? Normal people, mostly minors (pun intended) because of their ability to get through small places and the widespread inability to properly secure the mines. They got send into the shafts day after day after day, inhaling the stale air, coaldust and gases leaking out from where they had occasionally unwillingly/unknowingly nicked a bubble while following the veins of ore. All the while wearing big, strawfilled hats to protect them from falling debris, because it is better than nothing and the medieval times were not known for their adequate equipment for workers. So they worked underground, day in, day out, neither getting sun, nor proper meals, because, again, just backwards times. In time, these men stopped growing altogether, may it be because of the toxins, because of missing nutritional value or because of one to many cave-ins above their heads. So peter dincklage speaking about misrepresentation of dwarfes as miners is just so funny to me, because in todays world, third-world-child-workers or generally people from places with equivalently harmful working conditions would be my best mental equivalent to fill these roles, with a political context and a message about repeating history while forgetting it even, but the man just wants some recognition and more money for himself and sees himself more marginalized than these poor souls ever were.

In the old Hollywood system, actors/actresses were never allowed to make off-the-cuff remarks or remarks that reflected any of their personal views. They made "comments" approved by the studios or actually scripted by the studios. Actors/actresses were held aloof from Hollywood reporters and their public personas were developed by the studios and acted to shield their real, possibly stupid, personalities from their adoring fans. Current actors/actresses are now free to jabber to anyone who will listen to them and foist their idioitic observations on the public. There are still actors/actresses who are smart enough to avoid this pitfall but Jennifer Lawrence and whoever played Captain Marvel are certainly not among them.

Weirdly, all of this reminds me of the movie Singin' in the Rain. Lina Lamont is a silent movie star, with a horrible speaking voice. The studio goes to a lot of trouble to protect her image until her ego gets too out of control and they basically let her show her true self to the world and it tanks her career. Actors were better off when they didn't have the ability to instantly tell people what they thought, especially after years of having people stroke their egos about how amazing they are. Much like talkies killed silent movie careers and video killed the radio star, social media has destroyed the movie star.

The biggest reason Jennifer Lawrence needed to lose weight for the Hunger Games is because the people of her district were starving. Katnis risked hunting illegally to be able to feed her mother and sister after her father died. The first chapter of the book explains how she had a permanent hollowness in her stomach from not being able to eat regularly. Anyone who played that role would be asked to lose weight, to fit the look of the character they're portraying. I think actors going for a role based in an IP need to be tested on that IP and character before auditioning. It would help if the people who played the roles were actually familiar with the source material.

Actors are nowhere near as significant as executives, producers, directors, hell even writers. As the era of the movie star is coming to a close, big name talent is more and more expendable. Oh sure, you have your old-guard actors who still garner respect and put bums in seats, but they're a dying breed. The new generation of actors are forgettable starlets and pretty-boys, for the most part. If management changes they can all be replaced overnight. Hell, a good purge and some fresh blood might improve the average level of acting in Hollywood.

@tkps

That is the problem. They're so ignorant about the world in general or what's gone on before, some really do think they're inventing the wheel. When they only surround themselves with those who won't correct them, they go on believing their own nonsense. But it's their choice to remain ignorant. With the internet there is no excuse. So JL's clinging to 'I left school early' won't wash. Anyone who believes they know all there is to know are arrogant in their ignorance.

She actually repeated the statement in other circumstances (when claiming that men are way more emotional than women even though women are supposed to be 'too emotional' to be action stars). So she certainly does believe she's broken some kind of barrier.

I know exactly what you mean because I get annoyed as well but they have been ‘taught’ these things ‘brainwashed and confused’ . I thought it very telling when she repeated parrot like - “ we were told that girls could identify with a girl or a boy lead but boys couldn’t identify with a girl lead” . Now what they hell does that mean? She obviously didn’t comprehend . To me it means that you can never have a strong male lead . Which is fucked up because most of the men I know are strong men , real men , fighting men and if they punched just once in the face one of these girls or women they would kill them . They don’t hit women it would be too unfair and they don’t need to but the young men today believe this crap . A friend of ours a 30yr old 6ft 1” boxer was at a party with a new girlfriend who attends university and a young man about 22yr was expounding on the fact that girls can fight for themselves and his girlfriend was with him. Well this ex boxer couldn’t believe it . He knows the difference between the physical strength of the sexes and was disgusted , so he asked this kiddy if a man walked in and went to hit his girlfriend would he do nothing and the kid said no he wouldn’t . Oh the boxer gave him an earful . He tiold him that was the wrong answer , he said that if a man walked up and tried to hit his girlfriend that he would stop it and break the guys neck and that he as a man should be ready to try to defend his girlfriend because women are weaker than men and it is not fair. Needless to say that his girlfriend finished with him on the spot , it got around and the other girls won’t touch him with a barge pole either. It worried and disgusted the boxer though. It makes it very dangerous for girls with men growing up believing this woke crap. Women are just getting hurt .

I have always been a supporter of separating the art from the artist. I find it especially foolish to try to judge people by our modern scales who have been dead for centuries. It is more important to me, what the art means to me, than what it means or meant to the original creator. That has been increasingly hard to do when the 'artist' won't stop screaming in my face... Often about a whole host of things that I don't believe they are qualified to have an opinion on, or at least not a definitively 'expert' opinion that is worth screaming to the whole world!

Yes the art itself should speak for the artist . However what the viewer takes away is their own . Like the question of death of the author in English literature.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we have to remember from time to time that a lot of these kids were the theater kids that sat on the ground at lunch in the hallways. They finally get some popularity and maybe some looks and they don’t know what to do.

Very well said. Regarding scaring the audience away. Ezra Miller did that to a T with the flash movie. His orientation probably wouldn't had effected the box office. However his criminal activities has definitely been a cannonball sized wound in a pre 1914 conflict.

My guess is that the market research guys spotted a sub-culture and hoped that they could craft a star who would become an icon for that sub-culture and bring in viewers. It relies on a series of flimsy assumptions. 1. Just because a sub-culture exists, that doesn't mean they need an icon. 2. Just because a subculture has money, it doesn't mean they are hurting for options. Chasing after a group with lots of options is a high risk. 3. Catering to a subculture by trying to craft an iconic actor has risks which may harm revenue from other audiences. 4. Just because a subculture is vocal does not mean they would have spent money on your projects. These are all stupid assumptions than just a little caution would have identified but which Hollywood companies seem to have ignored for about a decade. I strongly suspect they are suffering from many of the same analytical flaws a lot of other companies are suffering where there seems to be little skepticism of business methods or market research. A lack of due diligence has been observed by accountants as well so it seems to be a general mindset problem that takes in a political form since actors are treated as if they drew in demographics categories.

To be fair, every industry has people at the top who aren't there because they knew how to play the game, not because they're best at what they do. I predict studios are going to be having actors sign air tight contacts forbidding them from doing media or talking about the who does and who doesn't see the film from their politics. I think what's happened with films and shows over the last year with pushback and low viewership due to actors making veiled threats about people who don't see it.

I used to follow John Leguizamo on social media, some of his criticism of Trump was legitimate. I I let it ride, but then when Biden got elected and kept talking about Trump and would ignore Biden on policies that were the same as Trump's. I figured that he was a partisan hack, nothing more disgusting than that imo. The ruling elites should be criticized, regardless of party.

I remember when movie stars were real actors and not just someone hired fir their looks or the boxes they ticked. Some were even actual war survivors and heroes who actually left thriving careers to fight in World Wars. Sure some were screwed up just like now and had secrets that would have scandalized the public but at least they had real talent.

They don't even hire them for looks anymore. They can't have any pretty ladies or you'll make Drew Barrymore Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence feel bad. I can't believe the bar is so low that she is seen as pretty by so many. Her and Kristen Stewart. Neither of those girls would have been going to prom at my school but I guess I grew up in some kind of lala land or something.
