Alice, check out Slim Potatohead’s ALiner videos. He’s quite a handy guy, soft spoken and a boondocker to boot. Glad to see you out enjoying the great outdoors, and I’m sure things will get easier with experience!

Nice video Alice - thanks. About 4 days ago, I bought a 2018 Aliner Expedition with wet bath and hard side dormers. Love it so far!

As someone else suggested, check out Slim Potatohead on KZbin. He's had a lot of experience boondocking in an aliner. I've subscribed to your channel too. We're looking to purchase an aliner in a few years and want to eventually try boondocking.

Thx for mentioning the trailer's prewired solar connection was weak for you. I have been asking around what people think of it & most folks are still just figuring it out. One guy did find a good connector that reverses the Zamp backwards wiring (he had an R-Pod prewired for Zamp, but is using a Renergy panel). I'll see if I can find his link for that connector part. I'm looking at an Aliner Classic without a dormer.

We just re-built our connector for the second time using Amazon parts again. Maybe we'll treat it more carefully on the next trip! Or we might build some kind of permanent junction box using MC4 connectors that we can plug into and not use the Zamp port.

All water tanks and lines are internal in Aliner which is a four season camper per Aliner. If you are using heat inside above freezing, no issues. Use your systems do not be paranoid. If you have dual 20 lb gas tanks that is enough two-three weeks off grid with your solar unless you are energy wasters. Get a new thermostat to control heat better.

We allow our trailer to freeze inside when we're sleeping (mainly because the Wave 3 doesn't keep up if it's 10 degrees F outside). So below the bed it's even colder than that (that's where the tanks and water pump and pex pipe is). I imagine Aliner's statement assumes you're not boondocking (i.e. have shore power) or you're running your heater all night. We don't like listening to the heater cycle all night so we installed the Wave 3. Also saves on electricity. Agree on the propane: since making this video we've found it does last a long time. One tank a week seems to be our max usage.

Sierra is always singular, as in the Eastern Sierra, per the master himself John Muir

Just worry about if there were small animals in you camp place? Do you need keep your fools in safe place?

chen wu Yes we keep any open packages or “smelly” foods in air-tight containers or in the refrigerator or coolers. Always in the car or in the trailer, never outside.

The correct name is Eastern Sierra. There’s no S on Sierra

JHold your camera steady or get one of those devices to do it for you. Your video was too bouncy. Real distracting! Also, get a dead cat mic to reduce the wind noise!

Your movement of the camera is too fast you should practice your filming techniques. You are not supposed to drain any of your tanks don’t you know that! The fine is big.

Bernard Shelton Our Aliner doesn’t have a grey tank and it does have a Thetford cassette toilet. Under no circumstances would we dump our cassette toilet anywhere other than an approved spot (restroom or a dump station ). You may want to see me more recent video about our DIY portable grey tank and what we are now doing with our grey water. To our knowledge it’s ok to disperse some grey water around trees and bushes at the campsite which is preferable to what we were doing a year ago in this video, although the amount of water we use each day is about the same- around 5 gallons.
