Headed out to the coast with a sunny forecast! This was our second time dispersed camping in the national forest on the Oregon coast and it did not disappoint. Our friends Donnie & Kristen join us and we have a chill time at camp before exploring some of the cool Oregon coastal features the next day.
Check out Kristen and Donnie's work: www.sunnysidecr...

When you slow the video down on Thors Well..there is a face in the spray on the right. Just as that noise like a groan happens. I see this in my art and it's not scary to me. I see eternity in it.

It's called a P-38 because it takes 38 "punctures" to open a standard K ration can. Prior to MRE's.

Fun to see your Prius origins! Really love the sentiment that "It doesn't matter what you drive". It doesn't. The Oregon Coast is indeed amazing really the best of the whole West Coast. We've lived in WA for almost 20 years now & still come down to the Oregon Coast annually. 2 out of 3 seems generous for a clearcut

Nice! I've camped at the lower spot a little closer to the water that you can see from the one you were at. If you bushwack down that ridge there are lots of beautiful old growth trees in that area.

Enjoying your videos. This June will be our first visit to Oregon. Getting very excited. We have 3 days to do some car camping - preferably dispersed - along the mid-northern coast. Any recommendations on where we should try to stay? We’re not totally opposed to campgrounds if they are beautiful and not densely campgroundy, but we won’t need any hookups or showers or anything. Would prefer locations more like this video. We can sleep in our Outback build, but we might rent a teardrop from Outdoorsy just for that experience. Any suggestions?

Invest in a handheld CB radio. We never go on logging roads without one. Meeting another car is nothing. Log truck, somebody's backing down the hill, and it ain't the log truck. Trust me on this one. Look for CH. # and tune to it. Its common courtesy to announce your approach so anyone listening knows whose coming up or down a given road.
@ScaleofTwo
@ScaleofTwo 3 жыл бұрын
We’ve definitely considered this! Though, common courtesy is also not coming down a single lane road at 40 mph 😅 they were cruising, and we pulled over for them.
@TheKPDX

@@ScaleofTwo Yeah, I haven't found the CB thing too usefull Most actively logged areas are readily identifiable. Side by sides and ever more competent OEM vehicles along with the Overlanding boom have made it much more problematic. My buddies and I now run with lights on all the time. Amber lights area particularly good at catching the eye through our forests.

This looks like a great camping spot. Me and my fiance are taking a 6 day road trip along the Oregon coast soon and we've never been tent camping. Been in a cabin without electricity available, but different then in a tent. Any tips on what extra items to bring or how to find good camping spots along the Oregon coast?
@ScaleofTwo
@ScaleofTwo 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! We're actually making a video that'll come out tomorrow about finding campsites. I would say make sure you have plenty of water, first aid kit, extra food, downloaded maps (forest roads n such). Of course make sure you have a decent tent and a backup plan if you can't find any dispersed sites, the Oregon coast is sometimes difficult to find dispersed camping.

Hey Rich, this is near Thor's Well in the national forest! Not a terribly exciting spot for 4x4 camping, but definitely a beautiful spot. If you take a look at the MVUM maps on Gaia or take a look at iOverlander this one is pretty easy to find
