A lot of naysayers here, but for myself, wow, I really love this boat. I grew up on and admire classic monohulls but they are dark and I love that this is bright and clean and open. It's just the size I want for my family. The price is certainly reasonable and in line with other boats this size. Hoping to buy something in 5-10 years time. This is definitely going to be high on my want list.

Thanks for the review - they are always appreciated - and the boat itself warrants a second look simply by virtue of being so different. However, I take issue with the categorisation of "cruiser" - maybe day cruiser, or weekender - but I cannot see myself warming (so to speak) with a number of aspects: the very exposed helm position, the funky controls for the running rigging, the pilot station that's surely seamlessly superfluous on a 39', the restricted headroom that would definitely result in copious amounts of swearing, and most obviously, the polycarbonate coachroof that would be a disaster in terms of thermal transference, both allow far to much sun/heat in during summer, and all the heat out during winter. There are some aspects to the interior that are certainly interesting, and she looks a fast boat, but it's all just a little try-hard isn't it..?

Pluses: Boat seems to go upwind well, pulling 8-9 (but at what TWA?) Downwind, I would have expected perhaps a little more than 12-13 with a big gennaker and 20knts Boat looks cool and I love the lighting and interior colour scheme. It has a modern and welcoming clean look. Finish appears top class. Nice to see something different. Negatives: Split navstation /comms and switchboard. That little extra galley bench will fill up with crap and the radio will be hard to get to. I hope there's a mirrored AP control at the Helm/s. Seems to have space/arrangement issues inside. Toby's not a big guy, and for him there's limited headroom. Wet locker looked small (but heated? so that's ncie) Sharp corners inside as noted. Galley bench/fridge becomes useless if you're cooking. "Oh I just need something from the fridge...oh, wtf am I gonna do with all this prepared stuff on the bench? How waterproof will that main hatch be in a knockdown or rollover situation? horizontal line recess in the bulkhead will weaken the bulkhead, but i suspect it's still plenty strong. Complicated rig for 2 handed (couples) cruising. If one of those constrictor jammers gets fouled, how're you gonna get to it in a hurry? Heavy: it's 1m longer and 5cm wider than my boat but nearly 3tonnes heavier...(not everyone sees that as a negative, though)

LOL. I sailed a boat with a pilot house across the Pacific in the 1970s. It didn't have a fat stern, so no twin rudders. No jibs or genoas, so no reason for twin cockpit helms. Full headroom for me, at over 6' high. Rig that could be reefed or furled on any point of sail, at any wind speed, with no electric motors involved. Helm in the pilothouse, as well as in the cockpit. Huge sail area for a 34' boat, with no sheet winches. Disruptive? It's still going strong, 50 years later.

I think the design is fantastic. But they should have spent a bit more time / money on the interior, this is the type of boat people will take to sea and spend some time sailing, at the moment every edge down below seems to be a right angle. Nothing worse than being thrown into a hard corner when the boats slamming about in rough weather. Could very easily injure yourself. Finally, a yacht for Little People. No, that round thing is *not* a Jacuzzi, it's called a 'head'. The stove only has two burners, one for tea, the other to keep your pot of porridge on the boil, mate. That stainless steel bucket built into the counter - *that's* the Jacuzzi. It doubles as a lap pool. This is the only yacht specially designed for Little People, which is obvious when you see that the dinghy doubles as guest accomodations for the in-laws and the tribe of squatter neighbors. But it doesn't have a Jacuzzi, just a bucket and a rope, so the nasty neighbors can tie the in-laws by the heels and give them a good dunking on Saturday nights. Don' t worry about the cost, it comes with its own TV show, Little People Meet The Nasty Neighbors and Sing Italian Opera.

Indeed. For me the crisp 90 degree corners of the joinerwork alone disqualify it. I have acquired enough divots in my skull just from being thrown around a conventional cabin with rounded corners, thanks! This looks to be designed by an architect (rather than a naval architect) who has spent any sea time either above decks or in the horizontal position.
@cordobes5 жыл бұрын
I love how youtube experts think that the ikea furniture corners is what defines or not an offshore passage boat (or one designed for that purpose, people cross oceans in rowing boats or dinghies). Not stuff like tankage, stability, AVS, hull built method, sail plan, storage space, electric system and so on, that people who actually do passages look at - it's the freaking galley top corners. And someone must tell all those guys designing the VOR, Vendee Globe, Transat, etc, boats that the loonies on youtube who never set foot on a boat have decided all that stuff isn't seaworthy. Forget all the algs and naval arch and the decades of experience. Every single performance or performance-cruiser boat is designed like this but apparently, they're all wrong. There are some aspects on this boat design that I don't like - like all boats design, it's all about trade-offs- but to say it's a racer/weekender just shows you know absolutely nothing about sailing or boats.
@Gottenhimfella5 жыл бұрын
@@cordobes They don't disqualify the boat, they disqualify the design process. Firstly: someone who could sign off on such an obviously unworkable detail cannot be trusted with the stuff which cannot be seen: they're announcing that as far as they're concerned, it's all about the sizzle, not the sausage. And secondly, I've already explained that it betrays them to be disconnected from the practical realities of getting on with life on board, even though the weather is not cooperating. Nobody who understands those realities will need convincing, and you seem to demonstrate that a portion of those who don't understand them have no interest in doing so.
