From the beginning ACC leaders stated you can buy your way out of the league, but we'd have to have a discussion on you media rights. The idea has always been this would be negotiated, just how much pain and damage will need to be done before they agree on a number. We are in the "he beat me every night" part of the divorce settlement process. FSU is trying to avoid full freight and the ACC is trying not to lose custody.

Frankly, the best option for ACC may be for ESPN not take up this option. This does NOT end the GoR!!! It opens the ACC up for negotiating a new media rights deal. CBS/NBC? Streaming? If this happens, the ACC really needs a good 2-3 years on the field, court, etc. to increase value. I am also curious what happens to the ACCN if ESPN walks... Does that make it an ACC property exclusively? I have maintained that one of the reasons SEC/B1G are pushing hard now is to keep rising programs down. They must create an exclusive club to maximize their standing and profit. We cannot have new blood start winning regularly (even those with deep tradition). This is a gangster kneecap move.
@A1Googler9 ай бұрын
The Big Ten is not trying to subjugate The ACC or Big 12. And the Big Ten did not kill the Pac12. If you believe otherwise, you are giving Big Ten COPC more credit and power than they care to wield. The Big Ten is a slow moving measured traditionalist beast. We only expanded in 2010 to protect existing assets. And this recent move was simply part lifeline to USC/UCLA and part media partner pressure. The Big Ten needs the markets and recruiting ground due to population shifts. Not sure the Big Ten wants a noisy FSU.
@MercerKnowsBall9 ай бұрын
ESPN is NOT going to Walk because ACC Value is RISING in part due to the PLANS the ACC and ESPN have put together to increase PROFITS for BOTH. ACC Revenue will be within $5 Million of the B1G in 7 years. ACC Revenue goes up 4 times by more than $10 Million each time in the next 7 years... starting with a $16+ Million Increase NEXT YEAR.
