same thoughts here. For us who are in a very dark place those songs are (even though just a little bit) helpfull because it feels like someone understands. For "normal" people that may be too much because they think this songs try to push them somewhere they already are or even are above

So Glad you did this song... Not many positive heavy metal/rock songs out there without being preachy...as much as Vin says it is... it's not. People in general go through a lot of this stuff all the time....Yourselves included and sometimes they need someone else to tell them they are doing a good job. It's funny Vin says what a corny line for "Don't let Hope become a memory" when too often that's exactly what happens. They give up and lose all hope when that was all they needed.

I know what you mean. Sori tends to define uplifting songs as from god and there's no way to prove that it does. It's an uplifting song but that doesn't mean it's a god moment or anything. That's what different types of music does. Big , powerful choruses tend to make us feel empowered and dark slow tones such as a lone violin, makes us feel darker , almost to a sad state. It's a natural human tendency that we all experience unless someone is just brain dead or has an abnormality in their Brian that prevents this process. There may be something in it that comes from a god but we have no mechanism to test and prove that.

@@HellSpartanZ actually I'm an atheist so I understand your reply. Although I don't know for 100% certain that there are no gods at all, I do believe it is highly unlikely. As for the Christian god, that my country worships the most here in the u.s, even if he was real , the amount of atrocities that he has cause , as said in the bible , are horrible. Allowing children to be raped and starve . I was molested as a child, but they always told me god was with me , bullshit. Also my mom has had cancer 3 times the last 20 years , it keeps coming and going. If god us so powerful, as they say, why won't he heal her , or heal anybody? Why not end world hunger, wars, stop child rape or rape in general. If we ever found out that a god was real and that they couldv3 stopped all this heart ache but didn't, if I was able to , I'd spit right in their goddamn face . And for all those reasons I say fuck god and I'm an atheist

I do not think Vin has ever had to deal with memories he's repressed... fyi I play these songs every night, including this one, so that I can keep hope alive knowing others are still fighting their own demons too. The only time I ever switch the playlist is when the memories are *too* real and I have to allow myself to not face them. Sometimes darkness can show you the light and sometimes it can swallow you whole leaving you in need of another reason to fight. Thank you for the genuine reactions, though. Keep it up.

It is NOT preachy to tell you to face the darkness within yourself because the fire is the only thing that will fuel your fight, Vin! Whyyyyy...?! The message is positive BECAUSE it tells you the negative is very real and you can't let yourself run from it. You can't heal from your trauma before you accept it. It's gritty. It's harsh. It's brutal. And yet facing it is the only thing that will allow us to fight through it to brighter days. Yes, truth is easier to deal with than not... but some truths most people can't face and won't face even if they didn't happen to you. This is about truly traumatic events and recovering from that trauma. I absolutely love when artists manage to convey an entire argument spanning every possible scenario with their lyrics without ever making it into an actual metaphor no matter how many individual metaphors they thrust into their lyrics or limiting it with specific themes. lol I'm getting so riled up and I just now hit 17:00. Oops...

As a Christian, this song speaks to me as an answer to “why does God allow bad things to happen people?”. When Job needed a renewal, darkness fell on him. When we need to be reinvigorated in the spirit, God will allow us to be tested and have the opportunity come out the other side stronger if you follow the light out. This is encouraging to those who are lukewarm or even questioning God a la “Judith” by A Perfect Circle. In that, it sounds like Judith succeeded in keeping her faith through the darkness but Maynard couldn’t see it himself.

It's so hard to tell if vin likes a song... he's so into hearing and reading it or watching the video that he doesn't show his life or dislike obviously. But always the breakdown at the end is amazing.
@digitalis29775 жыл бұрын
The song is Draiman coming to grips with his own life and all the despair and anger. His girlfriend committed suicide when he was 16, and it affected him to the point that he almost did too on several occasions, and he struggled with love for most of his life. His relationship with his father wasn't great for a couple decades. "The Light" is him learning to be happy with who he is and what he has, as well as coming to grips with how his past shaped him.
@lunartears67614 жыл бұрын
It sounds different because disturbed moved past much of the crap they’d been dealing for the last 10 or more years. That’s why it doesn’t sound as angry in general as their previous stuff did. This song and it’s album immortalized came out during the first semester of college and helped greatly with my depression. The light is one of the best songs to play when you’re down.

I like how Vin is “nah, I don’t like it” then goes on to break down how true and great the lyrics are 😂. I’m guessing this type of rock just isn’t his vibe. Which is why it’s cool that we have lots of different genres to explore. Gotta say I’ve never (respectfully) disagreed more with some one though, I absolutely love this song. I also love that you two disagreed with out it becoming snotty. Sometimes people get weird about peoples music choices.

@Christine Farndon I couldnt have said it any better myself!!!! I was taken by surprise with Vin's facial expressions and how Sori had the complete opposite reaction to him. I had to stop and realize our personal choices can be so different from one and another. Like you though, I respect how both Vin and Sori have such a respectful way of doing their reactions and are not rude about it. The lyrics in this song are quite powerful when you really listen to them. I guess some of people are surprised by the lyrics when the band has so many songs that can come off as angry. I love how the message in this one is simply saying that some dark clouds have a silver lining. In that silver lining is "The Light" Awesome song 💖💖🎶🎶🌞🌞💖💖
