The best way I can describe this is the cover that Disturbed originally did is a canvas, and they created a beautiful piece of art that had never been seen before. What Myles Kennedy did was take that flat canvas, and created a 3D object that no one had even thought of. It truly added a depth to this song that I did not believe was possible. Simply incredible.

Wow! At Thanksgiving, the husband of a dear friend of mine and I were talking music. We both play guitar. I asked him what he was listening to these days and he mentioned this great song that was performed on Conan. Dinner started and I forgot about it. I was kind of surprised when he sent me the link to the Conan version the next day. As you know the song starts slowly and builds in intensity, emotion and power. By the end of the song, I could not believe it was that good, that touching, that heart wrenching. And (I am embarrassed to say this), I had never even heard of Disturbed. Then something unique happened. I listened to the song again and again, and finally found this superb version with Myles Kennedy singing the high Art Garfunkel part. I grew up with Simon and Garfunkel, and Sounds of Silence is one of my top three songs from them. It is just amazing that so late in the game I have discovered this new version, and my eyes, ears and soul have been opened and touched. I think I have listened to this song 10X now in the past few days. It just mesmerizes you. Thanks to Disturbed, Myles Kennedy and everyone who contributed to this great piece of art. This song is a revelation!

Patrick Di Chiro I hear ya! The same happened to me... I grew up with Simon and Garfunkel’s songs, and love, love, LOVE “Sound Of Silence ! I’ve always loved Rock and am a bit of a “metal-head” by heart...; but when Disturbed came out with this cover, I fell in love with David’s voice, and Disturbed’s powerful songs. Didn’t think, there could be a better “modern version” of this song.... BOY WAS I WRONG!! Who is this Myles Kennedy-kid..!?! Davids and his voice, work MARVELOUS together!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi Patrick, I too had never heard of Disturbed until last year 2019. I heard the band's cover of The Sound of Silence during an episode of Into the Badlands then searched it out on Google. First I came upon the official video for the studio recorded version. I cannot tell you how many time I watched the video and listened through headphones. I am a crier when it comes to moving stirring performances which means I cried. On KZbin's suggestion I next watched the live performance on Conan which I also watched multiple times. Metal is not a genre of music I typically listen to but Disturbed is so gifted that I subscribed to their KZbin channel. Then yesterday May 4, 2020 I was watching a photography related video when the song was mentioned and one of the photographers stated he likes the version by Disturbed best. I paused the photography video to listen to The Sound of Silence three or four times. I later performed a Google search for the lyrics and that is how I came upon the live version with Myles Kennedy, who I had never heard of until yesterday. It is accurate to say I have now watched that live recording 10 or more times. I put on my headphones and pressed them against my ears to lock in every note, tone and emotion.

Please, I ask no hate responses, yes disturbed did it better and then tried to one up it but in my opinion and its just my observation as everyone is different but I thoughts the notes for miles Kennedy should have been slightly different....higher or lower during certain parts because there was parts that just didn't sound good at all but the rest and for 99% of the song he kicked ass....by the way did they just wing this with no prior practice?? I think I read that somewhere about this concert but can't remember the source, sorry.

@@matthewcarlon7122 interesting statement. First of all, everybody's taste is different, and that's absolutely ok. Nobody should get any hate comment as long as he talks in good manners. As for Myles vocals: it does not sound "pure" (in lack of a better word) all the time, but I think it's because of the mixing. Perhaps that's it what was "annoying" you🤔 It probably would sound a little different as a studio version ... idk. But anyway, they did both a fantastic job!

Bryce Birkinbine : Yes Maria Brink has come a long way since In This Moments first album. She can sing and scream better than ever. I unfortunately feel like they went a bit too far into over dramatics with 'Black Widow'. There are some good songs on that album, but they went to far in the wrong direction 'Blood' started. That doesn't take away from her vocal ability, but hoping In This Moment return a bit more to the heavy for their next album personally.
