Another situation from Friday The 13th is the snake scene. One of the people working on F13 owned a pet snake, who he loved dearly, and the director or someone working there as well (don’t fully remember) asked him if he could lend his pet snake for a scene. That snake was chopped in half on camera and the final shot is in the movie. They had to hold the snake’s handler back after they killed his pet and he could be heard off camera crying after the snake was killed. I feel horrible for the snake and his owner. Imagine you give your pet to help this production, and they murder your pet, record it, and post it in a massive film that becomes a pop culture staple.

I can’t have any reptiles or pets like that but my other part but I have to lizards and frogs and stuff so I like reptiles exam but now there’s a lot of movies in the 70s or 80s where they didn’t have the technology to specially computer but they didn’t have the puppetry for somethings. They didn’t have ways of making molds of of things like that so a real animal or a sub situation wasn’t used. I’m sorry that that happened to that person‘s pet even if some people don’t like snakes are still messed up they probably should’ve used a puppet or some kind of other way of doing that scene but I know exactly what you’re talking about.😢😢

what you said around the 24 minute mark "they will only ever do the right thing when they are forced to do the right thing" reminds me of something a guest at a bar I worked at years back told me. His job involves educating about safety regulations in the trucking industry, one day some of the people in his class or whatever were laughing at a rule that said something along the lines of "drivers can not be made to sleep in the cab of the truck with nuclear materials in the cab too" or something ridiculously obvious like that. The man piped up and reminded them that there isn't a job for making up these rules. Absolutely $0 of company money is being wasted on pencil necked bureaucrats sitting in an office imagining all kinds of common sense rules to codify for them to follow. All safety regulations are written in human blood. When you see a rule stating employers can not force drivers to sleep with nuclear materials in the cab, that rule was written in response to a driver who suffered and died because his boss decided to save a few dollars by making their drivers sleep next to nuclear materials, and that driver needed the money too bad to say no. They stopped laughing real quick.

The last story is so sad. From escape from drowning in water to drowning in sand, just an awful fate. I’ve also realized that I don’t actually know how quicksand works
@hieithefox Жыл бұрын
It works because water mixes with the grains of sand/dirt and it turns it into a thick soup the more movement made in it the more gaps between the grains are filled by water so it’s easier to sink the less movement the more water in forced out so it holds onto you luckily it is usually not deep and you usually don’t sink to far but it can trap you and you are in danger of other things

19:24 Most silent movies were lost during the 1930s to the 1960s, from fires, like The FOX FIRES in the 1930s, supposedly it is estimated that 75% to 90% of silent movies are lost. Which is a tragedy because there is a list of movies which are highly sought after. From the Marx Brothers first movie to the patriot. This and many reasons why the national film registry exists, Hewitt Packard Foundation, and many others🎉

9:45 no, this is just like the other accidents featured. i work in automotive collision repair and we use chains/cables to help correct structural damage and working around them is INSANELY dangerous. when a dent is being pulled using a chain/cable, NO ONE can be on the shop floor. the shop i currently work at will immediately terminate you for being on the floor when a pull is being done. very rarely do these chains/cables or their anchor point snap, but when they do, it’s catastrophic. having a third of the head taken off is some of the least bodily harm done to someone in the way of a snapping towing chain/cable.
@misseselise3864 Жыл бұрын
for context, you need about 10 tons of force to move a bare frame a couple millimeters. bare frames weigh MAYBE 300lbs (136kg) max. now imagine how much force you’ll need to pull a 2500-3000 pound (1134-1360kg) vehicle several feet with a similarly sized car.

The reason that they company during the Transformers didn’t wanna pay her medical bills is that in their mind and businesses minds. The first use of Photo-flo (to my knowledge) was by Dick Smith, who Tom Savini studied under (I myself used this formula, but don't anymore). Smith thought of using it after getting frustrated with the way other "fake blood" formulas - generally some combination of water, corn syrup and food coloring - would bead up on prosthetics and "clump" unrealistically on clothing, rather than "flow" over makeup and into the fibers of costuming like real blood. Adding the agent alleviated this... but nobody ever noticed any significant reactions to it from cast it was used upon until _Friday the 13th_ was shot. Nobody ever considered what would happen if it got in somebody's _eyes_ ... because it had never been intentionally put around an eye before. While in theory the prosthetic should have kept the blood mix away from the actor's eye anyway, one can never be sure something wouldn't leak through, which is what apparently happened here. Lesson being: Always be extra careful when dealing with over-eye prosthetics and makeup, people. Lots of things that are just fine on plain skin don't play well at all with eyes...
@kenrickkahn11 ай бұрын
Why do eyes have a different reaction to thing that doesn't affect the skin?? I'm just curious and learning as I go..
@MrJest211 ай бұрын
@@kenrickkahn Probably because they are a direct mucose tissue pathway to the brain, and are more sensitive. Our skin is kind of evolved to be a sort of "armor" against the outside world; eyes not so much.

I feel like using a freaking wetting agent for film reels as fake blood was kinda stupid. It looks cool; but the corn syrup and chocolate syrup red food coloring method of blood was invented in the 60s, so it was around for 20-something years by that point. So they honestly could've just done that and not risk one of their actor's eyesight. Sorry if this may seem like a disrespectful rant towards tom savini's work(it's not meant to be) i just had to point this out as it's a much safer alternative than using photo-flo and ending up temporarily blinding an actor

The beginning of the silent movies industry was extremely experimental with almost zero infrastructure, sets almost didn't exist nor laws and policy for safety conditions, the radio and theatres were at it's height and diminate the entertainment field so not a lot people would invest in movies, the Cinema industry was nothing like the movie industry in the early 40's when sound was introduced and refined as technique, as well as the use of sets, screens, props and stunt professionals and safety regulatory working laws specifically for the moving motion pictures ( movies and later on tv shows) Now a days would be invincible to put an actor/actress that is not trained to deal crossing a boat in a river real river, not a set and without security measures and rescue teams on sight. But at that time it was very common practice to send actors to very unsafe situations all in name of the Cinema Art.

That few extras were jumping on a bus that's floating‚ the extras were inside the bus and the windows are blocked with limo tinted windows. They don't even know when they need to jump safely. A guy got his head cut open‚ a guy cut his arm and more. This is why I think Michael Bay is a devil director. He's making people to do stunts more extremely painful or do something worse.
