Thanks for doing the reviews as they are helpful in deciding where we should try. I've been hesitant to go to Mama Melrose's, but they seemed to enjoy it. Not sure I'd want such a heavy meal and then go on rides. Maybe at the end of the day before leaving though.

We stopped by here for the first time on our most recent trip and we were very pleasantly surprised. I went in thinking it would be a glorified Olive Garden, but our experience was much better than that. I also appreciate that it is a bit out of the way. It’s a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the parks. Agree with Craig, I went in not expecting to eat everything yet that’s exactly what we did! 😂

Love this place! If you go for supper, ask for Joanne for your server. She is a hoot! I went with my cousin and her husband and she was hilarious with my cousin's husband. My daughter and I went a year later and she was a good sport and we called him and she gave him a "hard time" about not coming to see her and said something like "I'm looking good you missed out!" Also their flatbreads, OMG so good!

Thanks guys on a good review especially Erica’s on the plant based options. We have always found the restaurants at Hollywood Studios our least favourite out of all the parks. So last time we were there we made a reservation at Mama Melrose as it’s one we have never tried and was pleasantly surprised. Food was very good and it has a lovely ambiance Will definitely return here on our next visit.

The first time we went was 20 years ago back in the good ole days of the dining plan. Loved it but it was a 90 degree day so I was a slug around the park that day after eating so much Italian.

Good review crew. Everyone got an equal share of time. Mama Melrose’s used to feature brick oven pizza, and it was excellent. We used to go there for lunch regularly and get salad and pizza for a reasonable price. The current menu is a bit heavy for lunch on a hot Florida day.

I had a great meal there last week. Fantasmic dining package. We had the NY Strip and fried mozzarella appetizers. My brother said the 4 cheese Mac was the best he ate and he ate Mac and cheese everyday. I loved the glaze on steak! I subbed regular pasta marinara as I don’t eat cheese. The bread is boring but it’s not bad!

A three course lunch at Mama Melrose was a brave choice. I’ve always found it incredibly reliable but we’ve always done dinner because it is not a light menu. It has always been one of our favorite moderately priced in park sit down meals (moderately priced relative to Disney, of course). I’m usually not a steak person at Disney but the charred strip steak is a great dish. The seasonal chef special pork shank they often have around the holidays is also a winner.

The reviews have been really good lately. Keep it up. We enjoyed Mama Melrose but had issues post meal. The lasagna was really good and despite my first statement I'd probably get it again. The decor of the restaurant really pushes the line of dated versus nostalgic. I have to go with the former because it looks like the same decor from MGM days. I'd love for them to keep the memorabilia but spruce the place up. Keep the theme but clean it up. Loved the permanent Christmas store that was near it.

I clicked on this video so fast. My first and last time at Mama Melrose was around 17 years ago. It was our first trip to Disney World with kids. It is safe to say, that it was not a good dining experience. The food was extremely disappointing and the atmosphere left something to be desired. I vividly remember cheese hanging from the ceiling. We vowed never to return. It does make me happy to see that things have drastically improved, both with the food and atmosphere. I’m glad that you all enjoyed your meal. Panda, as soon as I saw your thick cutlet, I knew it would be an issue. I like my chicken cutlets thin. Great review from a great trio!

I will look at their menu next time out there but I’m kind of like Ryno about Italian cuisine: homecooked is best (actually, I had the best in CA at a fancy restaurant with head chef from Italy). I am 1 of those who doesn’t like marinara on pasta, but love pomidoro sauce (yes, a bit of a sweet sauce).

Great review. I always thought that this was one of the better "One Credit" TS Restaurants back in the day. One note: If Erica was reading from a notation on the menu that said that the Spaghetti Bolognese was dairy-free, then I will absolutely take her word for it. But traditionally, a true Bolognese sauce is made with some milk added to it so it may be worth double checking if one has a severe allergy. Before posting this I checked some recipes that I have on hand and re-confirmed this. And once I got to Marcella Hazan's recipe that showed the inclusion of milk, I stopped, because she is always the last word when it comes to Italian cuisine. It is entirely possible that at WDW they omit the milk. But that would make it "Meat Sauce" instead of a true Bolognese.

I wish you still showed trying the courses for the first time. Facial expressions add to the level of food likeability and interest of the video. I understand the point of not wanting to show people your chewing but there has to be a way. You can even add the little graphic back as you chew. 😁

People did not like the chewing or the graphic. Honestly, it’s a pacing thing. With this meal, we didn’t finish our apps long enough to even talk about them before our entrees came out. It would mean us taking a table for way too long by not ordering until each round was finished. I prefer that way too but it’s a lot more polite and efficient to do it this way.

You are wrong. LOL The chick parm looked like it was out of the freezer airline tv dinner food. I've had it there in the past but what happened to it and what are they doing now and the prices were bad before but oh my God now ? A few new things that looks good . The polenta looked amazing though...this video reminded me why we never ate there as a cast member...way over priced for what you get though a few things were ok... but Disney really didn't think some of this through despite the charm of the place, charging almost $30 for a plate of something you can make better for $5 at home is disgusting. And honestly $13 for a single meatball?!? I get having to pay higher prices for food when at Disney World, but normally they do something to make up for it and I just don't see this here despite the atmosphere which honestly while very cozy is if it were real not a place that you would ever pay anything close to those prices which ruins the vibe.. And by the way that tiramisu is exactly the same thing we used to get in pre-made and frozen when I worked at an Italian Oven back in the day. It's actually one of the better tiramisu that I've ever had despite that it's mass-produced and it's off a truck, but again for those prices they could make one to order right out of that kitchen that was even better. They're charging Boutique Italian restaurant prices but the atmosphere and the name and the food they're actually serving it's more like a local mom-and-pop that's incredibly funky and cheap. Comfort food place. I could see paying $8 for that meatball at Disney World and perhaps in the mid-to-high teens for those entrees and at the highest around 21 or 22. Of course at a real place that serve this kind of food with that atmosphere none of those entrees would be more than 12 bucks and that meatball would have been three or four. I am currently planning a family Disney World trip though we're putting it off because of the politics in Florida kind of scares at the moment, however I was thinking this is one of the places I wanted to take my picky simple food family cuz I remember it fondly. My palette is way more adventurous....I forgot how ridiculously overpriced it was and there's better Italian to be had at Disney World for similar prices even if that means giving up the atmosphere. I do remember the lasagna being quite good though but again I think I could actually do better at home for those prices way better or at some local hole-in-the-wall. Polenta is something that often gets overcharged for in any Italian restaurant, and in this case it actually looks somewhat justified. It actually looked like more of a gourmet or beautique restaurant food as did the ingredients. They didn't have the polenta at least in that form when I had eaten there in the past. My suggestion that people is if you want good Italian food and you still want to pay those prices go to Epcot. Save the Cozy atmosphere for your actual local hole-in-the-wall and save yourself a lot of money. Having also eating there myself I strongly disagree with Craig that the overall price was reasonable. As I said I do admire the place but it's not one of the better deals at Disney World nor is it compared to other Disney Studios restaurants. For those prices you should have been able to feed a family of four or five for what you were getting or had much larger shareable family size portions would actually would be the gimmick that would sell it for me in an atmosphere like that. Like I said sometimes I don't think they completely think things through as they could completely take care of the value problem by making it an all you can enjoy and shareable which is something you would get in a restaurant that looks like this in reality. Oh and don't get me started about the cannoli that's a total rip-off like I said go to Epcot. Those are mass produced cannoli shells with pre-made dessert fillings that you can buy at your local grocery store.

I have a differing opinion on the cannolis. The original was okay. The orange was not great. The butterscotch was awesome. I would rather they stick to one flavor, probably classic, and do it as a big cannoli with extra cream.

Nothing against thicker chicken. Just for this dish it would be more authentic to use cutlets or breast sliced in half. However, authentic means nothing because it's not really Italian but American Italian, so it is what it is. I just prefer this dish or schnitzel pounded as thin as possible so it's nice and crispy.

I would say it's on par with Italy. Italy's problem is they try to push their authentic Italian food which is mostly Americanized just like Mama Melrose's. I'd still put Il Mulino at the top and I'd probably put Trattoria al Forno above anything inside EPCOT.

I don’t go there for Italian. I’m Italian n like the stuff I make better. I go there for their mac n cheese. I have celiacs but even with that, there gluten free Mac n cheese is the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Can’t believe you all did by not get that. The gluten-free tastes just like their regular version. It’s the only reason we keep going back.

Erika eats Vegan all the time ....but she ate Calamari ??

She is primarily vegan but she can have seafood and chicken as long as dairy isn't involved. Eating vegan makes her feel better.

I'll try to explain as far as I know. Erica has a dairy allergy and in the past she thought her allergies extended to chicken and beyond, but it's more likely that it was because of cross contamination and she can eat chicken and seafood based on the preparation. However, she feels better not eating meat.

This place is one of the worst full service restaurants in Disney. The pasta is cheap and overcooked. Just not a great option.
