Hi great video! I have been car free years now, and commuting on ebikes since Spring of 2021, three full years on ebikes. My daily commute is 28 miles round trip. Yes you have to deal with flats every 4-6 months depending what run into. Nails are nemesis and NOTHING can stop it. Get a kit and carry with your bike all time: spare tube, tire lever and electric mobile pump, and 10” adjustable wrench for rear nuts. All can be in backpack. Starting changing tubes during commute will get you better prepared and no fear. Best of luck subscribed!

I have Tannus armor on my rear tire. I had my local ebike shop install it. I didn't bother with getting a tier liner on the front since I could change a front tire on my ebike with relative ease, it was the rear one that is a real pain to change. I love using my bike for errands and stuff, way better than driving

Tannus looks like a good product. These are low cost bikes though and I've decided to try the more affordable liners first.

whats the most common cause for your flats? goat heads? glass? nails?

I did 5 days on my pedal assist eBike, video on my channel. Biggest commuting hassle is rain/bad weather where I drive. Have a cargo trailer recently for bulky luggage. Have Tannus Armour tyre liners, one puncture in 4 years & that was a large screw!

I'm lucky there's not much rain in the desert 🌵 but lots of thorns can make punctures a challenge. Day two completed and Mr Tuffy liners doing their job so far.

i used to have something very similar (aventon aventure) and after a year and a half decided against throttle for commuting in exchange for a significantly more nimble and light bike (32 lbs vrs 60+ lbs) and its been a dream. when things don't go as planned and your outta battery/decided on the long route you can ride it like a normal bike.

What brand/model did you switch to? My electric mountain bike does feel great even with no throttle. I can see a lightweight pedal assist only commuter bike working great.

Why do you need to remove the battery? I never need to … I do keep the bike inside my condo so always climate controlled.

@GGg-ic9ku I like to remove the battery and bring it in to the office for security, to get a free charge, and to keep it out of hot summer weather.

Does most of your commuter route offer decent cycle lanes, separated from traffic?

Only about 2 miles have separated bike lanes, 3 miles have paint marked lanes or shared bike lanes (with buses) and the other 3 miles are a madmax free for all on sidewalks with lots of obstacles.

@@LectricGo not great; I live in the UK away from major cities, and have lot of bike lanes around me. Not keen on sharing with cars et al. Love visiting bike centric places like Amsterdam.

How far is your commute?

Round trip is 15 to 20 miles depending on route but the way back home is mostly uphill which really drains the battery quick.

For the 20 mile r/t commute How fast do you ride, total weight - you and cargo, and what PAS level? Forgot which battery you’ve got? I charge my extended XP 3.0 battery to 80% most days up to 12mi in a day max usually with plenty left, using a walking heart rate PAS 1/2 mostly - more for hills in my hilly town. I do 100% for a known high mileage day, and every 10th charge do 12 hours AFTER 100% reached for battery rebalancing via the BMS. I really love the bike, delaying getting a car had planned to get one this year but Dec 2023 LECTRIC working very well … got a cleverhood rain Pancho for rain … find I can ride all year. I’m in central VA Piedmont area.

I have the longer range battery. Ride in PAS 3 to 5 to maintain speeds closer to surrounding traffic and minimize my commute time. With my riding gear, laptop, lunch, cargo baskets, I probably have 200lbs on the bike.

@@LectricGo I’ve got the same battery but much more weight, 240 minimum up to 260 if I am carrying a backpack or groceries on the return trip. And please it can lug my weight around so well I am getting more exercise so I hope the weight will start to drop a bit. 🤞 amazed it gets me so far with all that weight!

@@LectricGoYou can choose a lower PAS on the way home. One new thought. Budget for an Uber or Lyft for your next flat to get you to work / home … will still be dramatically less than car costs! Also, new poster described their success with Tannus liners … consider those over Mr.tuffy …
