Divi 5 And The Move Away From Shortcodes

Moved away from Divi due to the old shortcode system a while back. I have to applaud Divi for not launching a brand new builder/theme and allowing the backwards comparability/updates. That is quite an undertaking, and users should appreciate it. Anxious to see the 5 update.

Divi 4 websites that you’re not actively building or changing will probably not need to be migrated to Divi 5. I bet they will continue to support Divi 4 for a year or more.

Really hope Divi 5 has the ability to do VIDEO banners, you currently cant integrate a youtube/vimeo video in a banner. Plus Text on Image hovers, (currently have to use custom CSS)

Hey can you fix your performance with large woocommerce sites. Your cache system is trash. I love having to reboot my server daily with only woocommerce and divi installed.

Did you set cronjobs in your server to clean the cache?

@@davidmesanoack635 if there needs to be a scheduled cleaning of the cache folder that divi creates, I would expect that divi would create those chrons. Otherwise don't automatically create a system meant to fail if someone else doesn't interact with it. It's pretty well known around hosting circles that the "performance" options in divi, don't actually work and most times break more things than they help. At this point I think we run divi on about 50-100 of our sites. The builder is great, the flexibility is great. But we've found recently that the speed on those sites is getting worse and worse. Woocommerce sites especially. And that's with builder disabled for posts, products, projects and only enabled for pages. Running new relic on any divi site or checking any slow logs, and the first thing you see dragging a site down is the divi theme. I get that it needs to be heavy to do all it does, but whoever is "optimizing" it should probably find a new job. We have had some success using wp-rocket on Divi sites, but we shouldn't need a premium plugin to help a premium theme hit basic levels of acceptable load times on a vanilla install.

Please release the public Alpha version as soon as possible. We are paid customers, and we can't test anything. That's not fair. If a few of us can test it, maybe we can also identify some problems. This will be a significant help to you, developers. The final product is for the people, not just for the developers. Developers can solve problems if there are any, but they can never determine what people like or dislike.

You pay for a complete product not the software in development. Most software houses will not release a potentially problematic Alpha to end users and if an Alpha is put out you can guarantee the version is almost at a Beta stage , and as for your desire to test that is precisely what the Beta stage is for.
