Water utility stocks should at least be considered as part of a dividend investor's strategy. American Water Works has provided consistent Dividend growth yoy of around 10 - 11% and may continue to do so going forward.

Thanks for all of the support everyone. I've owned this utility stock in my portfolio since 2014 and have pretty happy with the overall performance. I currently have a 20% gain on my position as I have purchased additional shares of this company overtime. Divided yield for this stock ranges between 2 - 2.5% and they continue to grow their dividend 7 - 10% every year. Like I said in the video performance hasn't been the best the last two years compared to other stocks, but the utility sector has been under performing the market this year. Considering the future of water I think this stock has potential going forward. As 7/8/18 this stock is now at $88.48 per share.

Hi Andi, a Roth does not allow for a tax deduction in the current, but a traditional IRA does. However, I still chose Roth, because although I won't get a tax deduction in the current year the money I pull out of it in the future will be totally tax free.

Hi Eden thanks for leaving a comment. What is an "AA Child?" Unfortunately I am not familiar with the tax laws of the United Kingdom. My knowledge is limited to U.S Federal tax law and California tax law. Tax is such a broad and specialized subject it is best to ask someone near where you live. Each country, each state, and each city has their own tax laws that may be similar or very very different. If you have any questions re: Federal tax laws of the U.S. I might be able to point you in the right direction. Have a nice weekend.

Hi Lukas, I agree that PE ratios are rather high right now for most companies. The stock price of this company might dip at some point, but the underlying business is still solid. What is the ticker symbol for the Hong Kong company you are referring to?

yeah, i am holding my cash for a 5-10% dip in the water industry. its called Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited (0371.HK) HKSE - HKSE Delayed Price. Currency in HKD on yahoo, PE still at 9

Seems to me like something in the money is funny. Like they need more customers or like some of the infrastructure they have is really not holding up well. I’d love to read their plans about fixing certain areas. Water will be big when somebody creates a way to drink sea water.

American Water Works has been one of my best investments over the past 5 years. It just broke new highs today. I don't see the demand for water being "quenched" anytime soon ;)

T Boone Pickens also talked about the importance of water as an investment. He also said buy as much as you can b/c it is scarce. Boone Pickens is retired from investing now due to his health.

Hows it going Stock Investor Guy? Great to hear from you and thanks for commenting. I didn't realize T Boone said that about water. How funny, I used always listen to what he had to say every time I would see him on TV. He seemed like sharp guy and he must have been to amass the fortune he made. I think he talked a lot about oil as investments as well if I remember correctly. Apparently I have "Boone'ish" investing philosophy without realizing it 🤑 AWK has been good to me so far. I usually add more to my position each year. My average cost per share at the moment for AWK is $73.10. Each time it takes a big dip I will add to my position if I have cash on had. The bad part is when I drink water now I think about investing more in AWK lol (that can't be a healthy thing) Thanks for all the support.

Hi Rosie, i'm not sure what brokerage platform you use, but I would think as long as you know the ticker symbol of the stock you are looking for you should be able to purchase it. Keep in mind though I'm not familiar with how the EU stock exchanges work or if there any restrictions on purchasing U.S companies, but I imagine there has to be away. Some popular US water company ticker symbols include AWK, WTR and AWR
