Scott here, June and Jean's brother. When I was 11 a friend of the family gave me a fighter pilots helmet with a dark pull down visor. It also had a set of very high quality headphone speakers which I figured out how to hook up to my stereo. From the 6th grade on and for years I would come home from school every day, put on Fanny, pull down that visor and disappear into Fanny world. I did this for years. Alice is ingrained into my DNA. I bought my first kit in 1980, and although I've never played with a band, I still work out on the kit almost everyday, channeling Alice. Love you Alice -Scott BTW, I went on to be a live sound guy, ending up on the Big Island. I supply a drum kit for almost every show I do as most people I work with fly in. Alice's influence and inspiration has given me the ability to really understand a drummer's needs, my trap kit I provide reflects this.

As a 73 year old fan, I have turned on so many younger people to Fanny. I show them clips, highlighting June’s raw guitar work, Jean’s “dancing-swirling” bass and Nicky’s near Joplin-esque voice… but, what always seals the deal is when they watch Alice go beastly on the drums! She’s mesmerizingly incredible!

Interesting about music played by humans, small mistakes made which you can feel/hear, but its not even near ruining the music, just a signature of live material. Great woman, great musicians, great stories about their lives. I am born in the 60ies, but came over Fanny 2020/21, I think, well passing by a song or two, and then some more months later. If some really interested rock erudite can make a documentary about this band, MUST place this Alice's interview as a special feature bonus PLUS the 35 minutes Beat club footage, remastered and cleaned up. Alice is very knowledgeable. Down to earth personality and in the beat club footage, she's a ravishing beautiful kick-ass drummer: I agree with her that the rhythm section, in any rock band(Alice, also in any jazz, R&B, Funk, soul, etc.)is the truly foundation for a song/composition/track to breathe and live. I was blown away the first time I watched that beat club footage. For the ones who might read this little comment, check that footage first and if don't fall in love with them, something is wrong with you.

@namcat532 жыл бұрын
@@threynolds2 I don't buy that. If they're in the same room, who is filming the interviewer? Another guy with a shaky hand held camera? The best would be 3 steady cameras for all centered views (subject, interviewer, both at once) and careful editing in post production if a split screen image is considered. Besides, what kind of a TV show interview would use very amateur video from a shaky hand held camera? How hard is it to get a camera tripod or a shelf/stack of books/box to put the camera on? This was poorly filmed.
@threynolds22 жыл бұрын
@@namcat53 What kind of TV show? A local access cable show. A KZbin video.
