Thank you Father Chris! I recently attempted to explain and defend the sacrament of reconciliation to non-Catholics. I'm pretty sure I did a poor job, and I learned what a contentious topic this is between Catholics and non-Catholics! At the time I prayed, "Please God we need Father Chris to talk about this!" My prayers were answered! God bless you Father!

I have 4 members of my family, including me that are very, very Catholic. We live on the same property with other family members. They have a total “block” when it comes to catholicism. Mainly because of the bad rap, of sexual abuse. They’ve made comments about this very subject. No need to confess, but only to God. We have explained it many times. Seems that nobody opens their ears or hearts. We have never say anything about their beliefs. Respect them. But they definitely make their snide comments. I pray all the time that they one day understand. God bless everyone. Remember the example of mother Mary, being humble and graceful. The Lord is the truth and the way.

Received communion and go to confession and do the next thing that really gives you a fresh start like you have never had a sin by doing a plenary indulgence. Just look up plenary indulgences for 2024 or whatever year it is and you get a brand new start. Read the things like confession, communion and praying for the Holy Father and then read all the different things you can do to fulfill the plenary indulgence things and you are as good as new. It really can change your life and thank God for being Catholic.

When I go to mass on a Saturday vigil or Sunday, and if I know I'm in a state of mortal/deadly sin(s)...& thereby don't go to Holy Communion...i know i miss out, and feel "the attendance" was just to fulfill the weekly Sunday obligation. Satan wants me/us to stay in this state...but thanks to the Holy Spirit, I am convicted and told to return next time after a good confession with true contrition and repentance, so as to receive the Holy Eucharist as early as I can. I believe in the sacraments and have to trust in God's mercy. Jesus, I Trust in You.❤✝️. Thank You Jesus for forgiving me always.

Thank you Father Chris. In the conservative Missouri Synod Lutheran Church at the start of our Devine Service we say “we confess that we are sinful and unclean by what we have done or by what we have left u done in thought, word, and deed. We confess our sins to one another for the forgiveness of our sins.” We then have silence to reflect on our sins and ask God for his forgiveness. The Pastor then absolves us from our sin as a called and ordained servant of our Lord, Jesus Christ. If we have the need or desire to confess our sins to our Pastor we can do so.
@jeromepopiel388Күн бұрын
According to scripture, that would be an expression of disbelief. We are not unclean. John 15:3 [3]Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Hebrews 10:14 [14]For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
@BeaDeCatalystКүн бұрын
@ Thank you for your comment. 1 John 1:8-10 NLT - If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. This is what we say every week and then confess our sins to God. Sin makes us unclean and we all have sin. We need to confess our sins and have them forgiven to be clean.

When me and my Dad used to go we would go in the Church and Neal and Pray and prepare for confesstion ❤😂 now days there all just standing there in line not Praying and sometimes talking. There are Churches where you can confess all week long and that's what I did at Stanley Rother Shrine in Oklahoma City until my Van broke down. Private confession as we have it was unknown in the Church for a very long time. The early Christians had no doubt that the Lord Jesus had left with his community the power to forgive sins. What was not clear was the form that such forgiveness was to take, and it is clear that the understanding of the sacrament has evolved over centuries. So this sacrament has gone through much evolution in Church history. As The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, “Over the centuries the concrete form in which the Church has exercised this power received from the Lord has varied considerably.”

This is indescribable story of mine this year during lent holy Saturday. Jesus cast out demon ( curse or occult from my ancestors, mortal sins,) in my body…i don’t know hot to describe it. It was like a huge vomit that i have to vomit but nothing disgusting coming out of my mouth while praying The Holy Rosary. Then when i was or about to be done PRAYING the Holy Rosary i heard Jesus said, “Go! See the Priest.” It’s like i understand what he meant is to confess my sins. The next 2 days ( because there’s no confession here on Sunday) went to the church and did my confession to the Priest.
