Fr chris I am returned to my faith after many years away. And all i can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart. All your talks have been instrumental in my relearning our faith. They have been a literal God send for me. They give me knowledge, hope and definitely have expanded my faith. They alkow me to connect in a greater way to the scriptures in a way i would never have thought possible. Ty from a housewife and mother. Pleaes help me pray for the conversion of my husband, kids friends and wider family circle all of whom have sadly also fallen away from our faith 😢 Ty love from Ireland 🇮🇪

What an amazing seminary lessons we gather in your topic today in explaining the faith, Fr. Chris, and thank you so much. You have increased our knowledge and understanding of the events in the Bible that without you helping us, we would remain void and unable to respond effectively as a Catholic. What we learned, we have to share. If we haven’t learned, we have nothing to share. May God’s graces, blessings and wisdom continue to pour abundantly into the MIC Community, that we may also become recipients and witnesses of His divine life and spread it to the world. Prayers for us all.

I did a paper on a comparison of Jesus and Moses in my religion class in college. I was flying by my own understanding, but I got an "A+" and a note "see me in my office". My instructor was a renowned expert on Middle East languages and studies, now deceased, and he was asking me if he could use my ideas for research; he had never heard my line of thinking before. I don't know what he found, but Fr. Chris, you appear to be thinking like I was back in 1980.

Congratulations to the LDM Team on going to prime time Fr Chris. I loved this talk today and all the Moses/Jesus typology. When I was a young student reading the Children’s Bible in Catholic School, I loved the story of the 10 plagues. Makes me want to crack open my Bible and read the book of Exodus. As always, you do such a thorough job in teaching us the abundant connections between the time of the Israelites, the life of Jesus, Mary and Joseph for example the Baptism comparison, and most important the LAMB and the culmination of the Old and New Testaments in Liturgy of the Mass. I did not know the significance of each of the 10 plagues, so that was great new information today. God didn’t do anything without a plan. I think in the episode of The Chosen, when Jesus gives St Matthew the Beatitudes, He mentions 10, but I’d have to check with Fr Angelo or Tanya to verify that nugget of information. Scott Hahn gets it right when he teaches New Testament is hidden in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New.

Father,your talks are very interesting and I enjoy listening to them. Thank you taking the trouble. I found that you have given a wrong information. The pharaoh had ordered all the Hebrew boys and not only the firstborn sons. And later ordered that they be thrown into the Nile .
@janeyount841212 күн бұрын
Fr. Mike Shmitz explains that in Bible in a Year. Pharoah killed ALL male newborns because the Hebrews were becoming too populous and potentially powerful. So, in taking only the firstborn sons in the plague, the Lord showed restraint and mercy towards the Egyptians.

There's more than one way to be an author; some author's tell their story to a writer who is a "ghost writer". Plus, the teachings of Moses, how he taught them and how the teachings came about, would still make Moses the author. This is my humble opinion which I highly esteem, to quote my late husband. 😊

Fr. Chris- all respect! I’ve learned so much from you! But, Moses did not cross the Jordan River because of his sin at Meribah getting impatient at God and having a temper tantrum striking the rock twice. Joshua crossed the Jordan with the water being held back just like God did for Moses at the Red Sea.

Father mentioned the debate about who wrote the first 5 books. It is unanimous among scholars that they were destroyed during Babylonian captivity. The version we have was authored by Rabbis who after the return from exile. It is known as the Priestly source and is intended to be different than the original for specific theological reasons.

I really enjoyed listening to this talk, Fr. Chris, but a certain question popped in my mind when listening to this talk, which might be a little weird, but I think you'll understand where I'm going with this. The question has to do with how it's mentioned in the Bible about "The time the Israelites had stayed in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years," (Exodus 12:40). What was considered, at that time, to be a year? For example, was a year in the Biblical sense considered to be what we, in this day and age, would refer to as a month? It sounds like a weird question but it's an example of how an atheist could use this example to be convinced that God doesn't exist. I found the comparisons to Moses and Jesus rather interesting. God bless you Fr. Chris, now and always.
